Every week around the same time, Skywrite the pegasus leaves his little cottage in the woods to “pick up groceries,” and every week around the same time, Petalgrown the pegasus welcomes him home with a few hours of cuddling and his favorite dinner on the table. Of course, not everything here is as it seems. For one thing, there’s the dinner. French fried potatoes? Who’s ever heard of such a thing!? For another thing, there’s the way Sky looks at his hooves sometimes, as if trying to will something else to be there. Also, as a footnote, Petalgrown is one of the hundreds of changelings thrown free of Canterlot during the failed invasion attempt, and has been living off Skywrite’s strange, fiery love ever since.

As time goes on and questions about the strange, loving pegasus start piling up, she grows determined to discover the truth behind the pony she finds herself growing more and more intrigued with. Of course, it could be something even crazier than “love-sucking, shape-changing bug-pony,” but that’s just speculation. After all, there’s no way a pony could ever hide such a strange secret from a creature born of secrets, right? Why, it would take something very unpony-like to pull that off, wouldn’t it?

This story is a sequel to Changing Expectations

When ages are segmented and divided in the annals of history, it is done so with great events as breakpoints. The Second Age of Heroes was unanimously declared to have started with the return of Princess Luna and the changeling Invasion of Canterlot.

For thousands of years, the changelings survived beneath The Great Tapestry, that which connects all living and nonliving things. Hundreds of generations worked endlessly to keep their existence a secret. With one command from Queen Chrysalis, the Masquerade was broken.

In a single night, the changelings waged war against Equestria and took the Kingdom by storm. Months later, the war between changelings and ponies has ended. A new tapestry, a new story, must be woven between the two species. Equestria and the Fifth Hive have gone through a dark chapter and have emerged stronger for it.

One war ends and another begins.

As The Sword of Damocles hangs above the heads of the formerly-human King Phasma and his Equestrian counterparts, the forces of light must work on an ever-shortening window before war once again brings Hell to Equus. Dark powers grow in the places that the light does not reach, and they bring one irrefutable truth.

Epitaph is coming.

Equestria, the land of Magic and friendship. While other lands have to make do with one dungeon core, while also delving into their depths to prevent an outbreak, Equestria hosts hundreds, who work for the benefit of the land, creating gems in the ground to mine, shaping the land as they wish, and making it easier for the ponies to manipulate their surroundings...

However, nobody, except perhaps the princesses, understands exactly what dungeon cores are. Nobody except one desperate researcher, the griffin Xaviar. Inside a gorge in which he had discovered the remains of an inactive core, this adventure was his last... Until he came back as the core. With no guidance except his own knowledge and his proto-magic rich environment, Xaviar will have to resist all the forces that wish to make him theirs.

This story is a sequel to Ponyville Noire: Kriegspiel—Black, White, and Scarlet

Zugzwang is dead, Scarlet Letter is in prison, and Ponyville is safer than it has ever been before, the once invulnerable crime syndicates in fragmented disarray. But Daring Do and Phillip Finder still dream of the red sky and the empty black eyes; Trace's dying scream echoes in their ears when they try to sleep, and they feel Zugzwang's ghost haunting them.

But even as they struggle with their demons, more cases come to the doorstep of 221 Honeybee Bakery. And as hard as it is, Phillip and Daring cannot turn away from those in need. Dragons in Canterlot, changeling intrigue in their own hometown, murder in the Crystal Empire, and treasure hunts in the Aushaylian Outback: these new, fantastic cases will take the detectives on strange journeys across Equestria, introducing them to new allies and friends. And maybe they will find peace along the way.

The third story of the Noireverse, this smaller series is intended as a sort of coda to the previous story, Kriegspiel. As I prepare to plan out the next major story of the Ponyville Noire series, I decided to write a few shorter cases to keep the gears greased. The purpose of this story is primarily to introduce some new characters and locales to the Noireverse, but also to show Phillip and Daring dealing with the trauma of what they went through in the last story: all things I wasn't confident I could do well in the next big story, considering what I have planned for that.

I hope that you enjoy this work!

Applejack wakes up in the forest, finds another creature called a human, and learns that the only way to escape this prison is to collect lumber.

Sounds easy, right?

Oh, how wrong they are. For out here, nothing is easy, everything takes longer than it should, most of the wildlife wants to kill and/or eat you, and there's no such thing as clean.

Mud, Misery, and Mayhem are the names of the game. Now, will they choose to play, or give up?

----------

NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE GAME IS REQUIRED!

So, if you're unaware, this is a spinnoff/crossover of a older game called Spintires, which some years ago got a remake called Mud Runner, which then got a sequel called Snow Runner. I've played and beat the first two, and I'm currently about 40 hours into the third. While this story is heavily focused on the dynamics of the first two games, I will also be borrowing some elements of the third (for our characters sake) and be implementing a few other things not in these games, such as more survival tactics of being in the woods.

Also, currently no pre-readers or editors, and while this story isn't meant to be something perfect, if this genera, story, or even the game are your thing and you'd like to help out, feel free to message me and you can be part of this!

This story is a sequel to Ponyville Noire: Tails of Two Private Eyes

When reformed thief Daring Do and private detective Phillip Finder took down Silvertongue, the reigning king of Ponyville's underworld, they hoped that things would get better for their city, and for each other. And with the dawn of a new year, and the honest if harsh Cold Case as the new chief of the Ponyville Police Department, that hope seems fruitful.

But nature abhors a vacuum. The throne that Silvertongue vacated has been taken by his former associate: Zugzwang, a cold, bloodthirsty sociopath who harbors a chilling obsession with Phillip Finder. But not all meet his rule willingly: the griffon Whitestone declares war on Zugzwang and his allies, and Phillip and Daring are caught in the center. Amidst the chaos, the mysterious Scarlet Letter manipulates all three sides as part of an unknown plan.

Ponyville is burning all around them. With a few friends at their side, Phillip Finder and Daring Do fight to restore order, but they and the city might not survive without a few scars.

Ponyville is one of the largest cities in Equestria, a center for trade and finance, a melting pot of many races, tribes, and cultures. It is also a place where corruption is a way of life. Here, the cops that aren't on the take are forever chasing their own tails, citizens live in fear, and gangs battle for control of the streets.

Daring Do has just been released from prison after a year-long sentence for thievery, and no one is about to let her forget her place. Phillip Finder is a local private detective and the bane of the Ponyville Police Department. The new partners quickly find themselves at ground zero of a city-wide gang war; surrounded by dirty cops, mobsters, assassins, and bizarre crimes, they can only rely on each other and a few honest ponies for aid.

They're hardly heroes. Which means they may be exactly what Ponyville needs.

A bit of background...

Three years ago, I introduced Phillip Finder in my first fanfiction, "The Pony in the Gray Trilby." Over the next many months, I kept writing and eventually turned my first work into a twenty-story series. I learned much and enjoyed the stories' moderate success, but unfortunately, I became dissatisfied with them over time. I realize that it's perhaps a bit of a cliche that many artists end up hating their own work, but for both Tchaikovsky and myself, it is the truth.

I initially planned to write this story as a prequel to the series, focusing on Phillip Finder and Daring Do. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I wanted to improve upon my work, but felt as though I was being held back by the original series. While I am proud of my first stories for what I learned and gained through them, I decided that the best course of action for me, what would make me the happiest, would be to wipe the slate clean and start again from the basic foundations.

That's where this story comes in. A semi-reboot of the original series, the adventures contained herein, set in a vastly different alternate universe and replete with a mixture of reinterpreted and original characters, are the culmination of all the experience that I gained writing the original series. This is Phillip Finder and company as I meant them to be.

I hope that you enjoy reading this story as much as I enjoy writing it!

This story is a sequel to Djinn Of The Everfree

Whatever you wish of me I’ll grant,
but not without its cost.
In order for something to be gained,
something must be lost.

The life of Damian Price has been complete and utter hell ever since he appeared in Equestria a month after the banishment of Nightmare Moon. Not only was he forced to take on the mantle of a Djinn, a nigh omnipotent being from Saddle Arabian myth who is bound to grant wishes, but he can't even grant the wishes as intended. Instead, he is forced by the curse he is under to twist the wishes so something is taken from the one making the wish.

For one thousand years, he has been trapped in the Castle of the Two Sisters, his curse forcing him to stay sane enough to cast spells. He lives in a bubble of frozen time, unable to see the changing of the seasons, unable to hear the wind blowing against his skin, and unable to interact with anyone unless they want to make a wish.

Then he met Celestia.

The conversation was brief, but it was one of the closest things he'd had to a proper conversation with another sapient being. He'd enjoyed it, but warned her to leave without making a wish or risk the destruction of the world from the consequences of the wish she'd had that subconsciously drew her into his prison.

A year has passed since that day, and Nightmare Moon's return is imminent. Celestia's plans for her faithful student have been altered ever since the day she learned that the Elements might be the key to breaking him out of his prison. As the time for the one thousandth Summer Sun Celebration approaches, Celestia plans for the hopeful, if temporary, release of the tortured soul she met one year ago...

...And inside his perpetual prison of night, Damian Price is none the wiser as forces from without of Equestria move to find him for their own personal agendas...

The idea for this came initially from yakopak, but I have since expanded upon the world. Rated T for the time being, but it might change to M in the future with the development of the story.

Also, if you're reading this and confused by the new names of places, I edited my first story to reflect these changes. I was using a fanmade map as a reference, but even though they said it was okay to use it as long as credit was given, I decided to make my own world instead.

This story won't be updated as much as my main story, A Cloaked Heart.
