Been a few years, as it seems my interest is staying for now, I'll stick around. I've been writing for almost ten years now, with a specialty in Adventure/thriller.

T

Equestria, the land of Magic and friendship. While other lands have to make do with one dungeon core, while also delving into their depths to prevent an outbreak, Equestria hosts hundreds, who work for the benefit of the land, creating gems in the ground to mine, shaping the land as they wish, and making it easier for the ponies to manipulate their surroundings...

However, nobody, except perhaps the princesses, understands exactly what dungeon cores are. Nobody except one desperate researcher, the griffin Xaviar. Inside a gorge in which he had discovered the remains of an inactive core, this adventure was his last... Until he came back as the core. With no guidance except his own knowledge and his proto-magic rich environment, Xaviar will have to resist all the forces that wish to make him theirs.

Going by the description is this in anyway inspired by the divine dungeon series?

👀
Hellooooo

You were right, there is demand. I read a dungeon core manga once and then never went looking again, but it was a brilliantly fun experience! This seems interesting - especially since its an internal reincarnation, rather than HiE as a dungeon core
Looking forward to reading more!

Ave Imperator,

Sincerely, Ms. Bland

Seems fun, loving the graphs! Gryphons are going to have quite the shock if a search party comes looking for our dear thaumaturgist friend...

One of the first I read years ago. Only got up to about book three before it lost my interest. Most dungeon core books only keep me interested up to 3 before the notion of them directly teaming up with direct communication ruins it for me. Unless they team up in the first book.

The gorge is just outside Griffonstone. If they haven't sent one by now... Well, two chapters later might clear that up.

On this topic, hope everyone loves the simplistic system design and stats. Graphs are literally made in word then screenshotted and uploaded. I pretty much just edit over previous ones if they're for the same character, hence why Xaviar's mana is off when he's a griffon lol. Didn't catch it until I was done with Chapter 2.

i wonder if xaviar will eventualy reach a point where he can have a griffon avatar. probs going to take a while but would be interesting to see what could happen. my current guess as to why things are in their current state in eqestria is that either discord or the princesses are actualy avatars of a dungon core or sevral and that is why they can deal with the cores so well. or that they eat them

i wonder if his brother will find a book in there that could be similer to the one sunset has and will allow him to contact his brother

I understand a lot of this chapter is worldbuilding and that may put some people off, believe me, I actually cut out a full 25% of the stuff I was gonna include in this chapter!
---
Please add it back :pinkiesad2:

11330394
A lot of what I cut out in this chapter is included in the next chapter, don't worry!

Well damn... He died and got restored to be a thinking place... If i ever become a place than i hope to become a spacehip...

Being a dungeon is fun... I wonder if he had chicks or died a Virgin...

His monsters were thrilling conversationalists. Or at least he liked to imagine they would be if they could do more than make wooshing sounds. E was unsure if they were actually... 'alive' in that sense, but they at least made decisions on their own. If he willed them to move towards an area in his domain, they'd take the fastest route instead of the most obvious.

He

What is Xaviar trying to do? A mutual benefishal symbiotic relationship?
Like the Changelings have with their emotion producing target?

Why do they want to destroy the Dungeon?
I am confused about this development...

Will brother become Pen Palls? :rainbowkiss:

A story i like
That makes 10 likes already so congratulations :yay:
I wonder if the Alicorns know of the sapient nature of Dungeons and their Cores.
If they have a deal with the Cores eatch than that would explain a lot.

11330491
Don't worry. that'll be addressed later. But I suppose I didn't get across that Bjaltair isn't a nice griffon enough?

11330514
Actually i am more shocked a so fine made Dungeons that seem to be surprisingly flattering to the Nation it Is in would destroy a very lucrative opportunity.

11330624
It's explained in the first chapter that any nation that has more than 1 dungeon will have a dungeon tide. Equestria comes in and confiscates the Dungeon Core and brings it back to Equestria before that happens. Bjaltair is being petty here. He'd rather destroy it so that Equestria can't have it.

11330730
Why no trade in the old for the new one? Or is it so impressive that it makes it to Valuable?

Hopefully this doesn't go too horribly now, that would be a shame after he went ahead and built this beautiful library. :(

Anywho, can't wait for the new form of spellcraft to completely break some wizard's brains.

YEAH!!!!
FINALLY A DUNGEON STORY IN EQUESTRIA!!!
I HAVEN'T SEEN ONE IN EONS!!

11330827
Do you can recommend some? I like to read them.

11331233
None here, I do most of my reading on ROYALROAD.COM now. They have a similar structure to fimfiction but they do original storys and fanfics.

11331233
If you search dungeon in their search engine, they've got tons.

Awesome chapter. To sad he could not become a
'Pen Pal' with his brother.
So getting his monsters defeated by others levels him up? Nice way to have a win-win scenario. Would explain Equestria riches! Alicorn have a mutual benefishal agreement with their Cores. They respect one another and support eatch other.
I guess if control is given outside dungeon limit than the Dungoncores could make up a great defensive military force if Equestria is ever in danger.

I wonder if Xavier can create a chat room.
Add a Monster-Book and a Monster-Quill to Chat with adventuring Guests.
Example:
A small room enough to fit 6-7 Creatures in it to sit or stand.
The Book has written:" Welcome to the Chatroom, I am Xavier former Griffon and now Dungeon-Core.
This book is able to interact with me. It can be awful lonely outside creating decorations for my Dungeon- area and monsters for your training.
What would you like to talk about?"

Once Celestia sees the Book she probably comes personally to save this Dungeon Core. Knowledge is power :ajsmug:

Greedy ad pety... What a sad combination for a leader.

I hope Xavier can hide long enough for Celestia's or Luna's arrival to save his Core...

Brilliant as always! Love the way the library is set up, and the graphs certainly make this whole thing clearer.

Hope the story continues to go alright for our Core, he only has so much he can do.

Lost me half way through chapter one.

it's just bland and stats.

Maybe he can build a mobile Dungeon? Many other storys give me the idea...

Mobil fortress/Dungeon to travel the world and let all Nation enjoy its ressources and let them level up while leveling it.

You should probably mark it as crossover then; that's what that tag is for.

Here some humor filled stuff, might get your laughing muscle excercised and get th creative juices flowing :raritywink:

Enjoyed what you have written so far, I'm a big fan of Dungeon Core fics, so I was pleasantly surprised to find one over here. So far so good, I am liking the world-building and monster variety so far. I hope this one continues.

And for anyone else looking for Dungeon Core fics, I recommend 'Dungeon without a System', 'Thieves Dungeon', 'Yagacore', 'There is no Epic Loot here, Only Puns', 'The Dungeon Calls for a Sage', 'Dungeon Life', 'Dragonheart Core', 'The Heart Grows', 'Eternal Spire', 'Lucid Core' and 'Island Core' over on Royal Road. These all range in quality from Amazing to Enjoyable/interesting. (The ones in Bold are stories I would recommend more confidently.)

On Amazon you can read Bone Dungeon series, Dungeon Heart series, Any of Johnathon Brooks Dungeon Core series and Cat Core.

so he got a permenent debuff for abusing the librery books? fair enought. he should have read the room and thought about how this dungon worked.
Maby it should be a case of he is banned and debuffed untill such times he dies or donates the ammount of books he damaged/ destroyed through his actions but ones that are not in the librery yet. send him on a real self reflection and fetch quest

Great chapter overall. Polite behavior cost you nothing, impolite behavior costed them deerly...

Nice to see the Griffon ruine themselves because they would not stay open minded...

Looking forward to the next chapter in the story.

Pretty niffty idea, i like it.
But after the team just died, i doubt we see that one Griffon anywhere near the Dungeon ever again...

Nice chapter, a little short but still a good read.

A few small suggestions for additions to the Dungeon.

  • Inkwell Slimes - Slimes that use a hard bottle to retreat into to avoid damage. The bodies are made up of ink which the quills can dip into to write in the books? They'd primarily focus on blinding or trying to engulf and suffocate intruders.
  • Totem Lecterns - Inspired by the Ghostbusters Video Game, these lecterns levitate and move around, generating shields to protect boss monsters or allied monsters. Perhaps providing a bonus to attack damage for book-based enemies who can sit on them? Name inspired by totems, sometimes seen in Dungeon core novels, that provide buffs and debuffs to Monsters and Invaders.
  • Tome of Madness - A book written by a Mad Griffon, the book could be gained by a donation of a book absorbed by our Core. Or through some unique perk/achievement? The Book is one of those gamble rewards, with a chance of it becoming a hostile boss monster, inflicting negative status effects/madness or providing a boost/boon?

By god, It lives.

I really need to get better at arriving to these on time, however. Great chapter, I really missed this story.

Maybe with a mobile boss enemy as carrier for the dungeon core we get a mobile dungeon?
