They may be princesses, but Celestia and Luna are still sisters. Sisters that don't get along too well. And, like most older sisters, Celestia finds Luna to be extremely bothersome.

Luna loves her older sister and wants to be like her. But she can't, because Celestia doesn't feel like talking.

History is written by the victor. What if the last battle between Princess Celestia and Nightmare Moon wasn't quite as clean cut as the history books tell? Could Luna have had a reason to turn on Celestia? Why was the Castle of the Two Sisters left behind with all its knowledge left intact, and seemingly in working order? Why do almost all ponies have an instinctive fear of the Everfree Forest? Twilight and her friends might just uncover more than they ever bargained for.

It's a quiet day with in the castle of the two sisters. Luna goes through the day as usual, carrying out her duty as the lone princess of Equestria after Celestia's mysterious disappearance. Her patience is tested as the castle's condition has dwindled since the vanishing of her more level headed sister. Many ponies have been thrown into the dungeons in the wake of her new found role. The princess of the night can only help but feel down about her situation and miss her elder sibling. She doesn't have time to mourn now, for she must run the kingdom even with the lack of knowledge or experience.
Not like she needs it though, for thing aren't what they really seem...

Twilight did pass her exam, but her magic did not flare up. Hatching a dragon egg was more of an optional test the parents could agree too. Because her magic never flared, Celestia’s attention was not caught by her. Twilight was left to enter the best academy in the land, but not as the personal student of Princess Celestia.
Only a few months later Twilight sees how alone she is in it, surrounded by unfriendly mares and stallions who were at least three years older than her, she begins to struggle in her studies. Shining is no longer there to help, and neither are her parents. She is convinced she is in this alone.
When one night a mare visits Twilights in her dreams. Nightmare Moon offers to teach her, and help her study, for one thing in return. Travel to the the abandoned castle of the two pony sisters by the thousandth sun celebration.

I just put the two together

Princess of the night and Nightmare Moon; two names used interchangeably in the Canterlot castle.

There was always a piece missing in Luna's life since her return from banishment; a sense of belonging, of acceptance into the modern society. She could never tell her sister of such feelings, but she aslo couldn't keep them to herself. In a series of letters sent into Oblivion soon after completion, Luna spoke of her true feelings, of her true fears, aspirations and worries. But what if these letters weren't sent into Oblivion? What if they were sent to place where she had a reader?

What if this reader were to write back?

When Starswirl the Bearded follows Equestria's new princesses to build a castle in the Everfree Forest, Clover the Clever has little choice: she must follow her teacher to the Castle of the Two Sisters.

Clover has no idea what the Everfree and its princesses have in store for her, but she does know this: she will not die of boredom. Whether something else kills her remains to be seen.

Written to give a different perspective on Amy Keating Rogers' official version of The Journal of the Two Sisters. This journal will contain spoilers for the events in that book eventually, so beware.

Three days ago, the moon eclipsed the sun at midday before setting soon after. Three days ago, a series of explosions rocked the Castle of the Two Sisters and the surrounding village. Three days ago, Princess Luna disappeared without a trace.

Ever since then, the sun has remained fixed in the sky, and all of Equestria has already begun to wither in the resulting heat wave. Princess Celestia refuses to leave her chambers, and the only one who could reliably bring her forth, her sister, is nowhere to be found.

What will it take to bring Celestia back to reason and stability back to Equestria?
