From the mouth of Celestia:
"For we have defeated the Plague. The Pandemic that took billions over the course of 18 months, 13 days and 21 hours before it was announced by the newly formed world-government, The Hierarchy, that we completely eradicated the infected. But the Resistance still poses a threat. Dare we fight another war? A war that causes climates to shift, and millions to become homeless and driven to savagery? Where Harmony and law cease to exist? You tell me, my little ponies. Shall we fight a new war that's filled with mindless enemies like the last? We have lost 6.2 billion ponies worldwide. How will the 1.1 billion still standing react to this new barbarism, unless we do something about it together? My former faithful student, Princess Twilight Sparkle, destroyed the infected with the Elements Of Harmony, suffering heavy casualties...

Let us build a new world, one without fighting. Let us rise after this setback. Let us live!"

She spoke from the highest balcony in the old, worn-down castle that had become her temporary residence. Her imploring speech fell on the ears of 2 million ponies, protesting to halt a new war that loomed ominously in the heart of Equestria.

This is going to be a long story. With Pt. II and Pt. III in the pre-production stages.

Pt. I will feature harsh, gory and malicious stuff. And it's twenty to thirty chapters long. I haven't decided yet.

NOTE: Weird shipping is weird, but it will pose an interesting challenge. Who knows, maybe this will blossom into more than a simple one-shot/short story.

Teen for some gore, and likely use of language - subject to change in the future.

Chapters (2)

With everything going on in his happy life in Ponyville, the adventures, the fun, the lessons on friendship, Spike never took time to have any appreciation with his time with it all, assuming his life would always be this happy. Then that letter came... the letter that had it spelled out right in front of him that he was never supposed to happen, that he was never supposed to even live, and that Twilight must make the difficult choice of choosing her friend, or her princesses orders. As Spike finds anger inside him build up from seemingly nowhere, he storms out of the house, into the twilight of the night, tears streaming down his cheeks.

All the while, Rarity is there to comfort Spike through his emotions, his feelings, his fears that one baby dragon should never handle on their own. She begins to realize just how important Spike is to her, not just as a friend. As the days of his happy life tick by second after second, just how dirty is Rarity willing to get just to save a dragon's numbered days?

Sparity/TwiSpike Friendship

When Twilight was a filly, she studied non-stop. Spells, books, and Princess Celestia took up all of her spare time. She never had any real friends when she was younger.
...Except Spike, that is. This story is about their first day together and the ups and downs of it.

Chapters (1)
T

Spike is an unusual dragon, and a hard working creature. Dragon infants his age have never been known to speak or walk. Dragons of any age have never been known to show loyalty to ponies. And yet Spike is devoted to a fault to his motherly and caring pony employer. Head over heels for a fashonista pony who's very being goes against dragon nature. What is so different about the only dragon to walk among the ponies? What does his future hold? And why does Princess Celestia seem to have a vested interest in him? These questions have itched the back of Twilight's mind for sometime now. And she may not like the answers.

Spike has always been Twilight's number one assistant, many times fighting through lack of sleep (and interest) to help his unicorn friend achieve her magical goals. Be it research or experimentation the young dragon never thinks twice about aiding his best friend. Sometimes though, the two become blind to each other's weaknesses; Spike allowing Twilight to work herself to death and Twilight not realizing just how exhausting Spike's job can actually be. One day as Twilight concludes weeks of theoretical magic research, the library covered in chemical apparatuses all simmering, boiling, or magically stirring themselves an innocent fumble from the tired dragon leaves half the equipment destroyed, their contents mixing together to form a noxious cloud. Unable to react in time Spike inhales too much of the fumes and is thrown into a deep slumber, so great not even Zecora can bring him about. What's worse, Princess Luna arrives with the ill news that Spike has drifted beyond the realm of sleep into the wild dream lands where evil spirits and nightmares reign supreme. If only he could find his way back to Luna's moonlit domain he could be saved, but for now he is lost, and though Twilight is right by his side, utterly alone in this strange world. Spike longs to be home, and fear grips him as he witnesses nightmares fly about this new sky, but not all is lost for him. New friends are to be made here. New adventures. Even something close to a family he may have had if fate had charted a different course. In time he even comes to enjoy himself: the freedom, the excitement, the new bonds forged by danger and camaraderie, so is it any wonder that part of him wants to stay? Not to mention the trials he'll have to pass in order to return.
