1,000 years. A mighty long time for Equestria to be without its most valuable source of protection: namely, the Elements of Harmony. Leads one to wonder how Equestria could have survived for so long, with no real way to protect itself from darkness or hatred and the like. Cerainly Celestia could not have single-hoofedly protected a land with her magic alone. And she didn't.

Equinox. An underground organization of infiltrators, assassins and the like, dedicated to keeping Equestria from plunging into chaos. This story does not seek to explain the origins of Equinox. It simply seeks to relate a rather complex time in it's- and Equestria's- history.

A collab betweenAles Flamas, writing for Deadeye Sureshot, and

Maneiac(writing for Sugarcane)

and BattleDamage (writing for Mini-Kat)

Jaeger Donutt for Fake Out

A special thanks to everyone who let us use their OCs for this story. Not all of them will appear right away, but all of them (that were accepted) will make an appearace at some point, and some may even play crucial roles in the plot. So keep an eye out for yours!

When a Necromancer is hurled into the place between places then escapes to another world at the cost of his life it is not the end. Being a Necromancer he returns to life with ease, but is skirting the edges of consciousness, and unable to truly wake as a mysterious figure uses magic to put him on the back of a horse to carry him away into the night.

To make matters worse the phylactery he used to save his own life recreated him as a member of the dominant race with... some errors. His injuries are still present and he's now in a much smaller body with his magic drained to nothingness.

So now he's horribly injured, held captive by an unknown force, in an unfamiliar body, in an unfamiliar world and completely exhausted. He's had worse days. He just can't think of any off the top of his head. So familiar territory then, nothing to worry about.

(Thank you again Tulip for the amazing piece of artwork.)

It's been a thousand years. Princess Luna is returned, and the castle staff must scramble to see that she has servants to attend to her needs, and just as importantly, that they look the part. Of course, it turns out that it's rather difficult to find competent servants on such short notice. A hooffull of servants are chosen based on their appearance and duties, and are assigned to serve the Moon Goddess as personal retainers until more suitable replacements can be found. When coloring, Cutie Mark, and chance coincide, one of the castle's junior stewards is thrust into a role any loyal servant ought to jump at: Lunar Hoofservant. Unfortunately for Nightlight, Princess Luna is far more demanding than her older sister, and being her servant means contending with an unforgiving goddess who demands nothing short of perfection. Furthermore, somepony must be responsible for the inevitable failure. The duty of "Royal Hoofservant" just might be synonymous with "Royal Scapegoat."
Saddled with responsibility far beyond his post and expected to fail, Nightlight has no choice but to quit his post or to become the servant that Luna needs. This is the story of a pony's development from colt to stallion, and from servant to leader.
Thanks much to DirePony for the editing and story direction he's graciously provided me.
Rated 'Teen' for alcohol use, mild innuendo/sexual references, and pony-swears.
Not based on the (excellent) sci-fi novel of the same name by Robert Heinlein.

Out of unnamed circumstance, a strange pony has arrived into Equestria with no memory of his former self. When discovered by the Elements of Harmony, will they aid him in re-obtaining his memory or will they teach him more about friendship for him to start a new life? One last question remains is why his cutie mark is an ominous looking '4'. Stay tuned to see what happens.
