3/14/24 Still Alive Edition

There's only one pony in Ponyville that the Mane Six have never met. Pinkie Pie has never thrown him a party, Applejack has never sold him a mug of cider, and Twilight has never seen him check out any books. And as far as that unicorn, Lapis Print, is concerned, that's exactly how it should be.

Lapis can't risk them knowing where he lives, what he does for a living, or even what his name is - if he gets his way, the Mane Six won't even know he exists, and nopony in Ponyville will miss him once he's gone.

It should be a piece of cake - after all, it's not like the biggest magical power in Equestria is about making sure everypony looks out for each other, right?

Magnetic North and Paprika Blues were the best of friends since foalhood. They took on Manehattan together and were prepared to be friends forever. But after a night of drinking, Paprika disappeared with hardly a trace.

Convinced that Paprika is still alive, Magnetic convinces a great and powerful unicorn to help find her whereabouts - and maybe rescue her from an alien world that is killing her artistic soul in the process.

Nowadays it is a quiet, isolated community nestled within the forests of the Pacific coast. It's the kind of town where everyone knows everyone, and folks look out for each other. Those bonds of friendship and community are tested when some of the inhabitants begin to turn into colourful ponies with strange powers and abilities...

A story from The Canary Files

Disturbances in the magic of Equestria causes rifts between worlds. One unlucky hiker stumbles into one such rift and finds themself in a new body and in a new world.

A virus that transforms the infected into ponies swept over the world. Despite her best efforts to catch this disease and go pony, Ari was not among those transformed. With transformation magic banned forever and demonized by most of society, it appears she's stuck as a human permanently.

Only one group is in favor of turning more humans into ponies: the 'Shimmerists'.
...But they are very pro-ponifiation.

This story more or less takes place in the Pandemic universe. However, it's been updated to take place in the real 2023 and I haven't read the sequels. It's essentially a non-canon spinoff from the original.

Change can be a scary thing. The familiar is comforting, it’s something that we know to be concrete and unmoving. But even concrete cracks, and even marble loses its shine. Jo has learned this the hard way, dissatisfied, disillusioned, and with a secret that is bursting to get out. Sometimes, all you need is a little magical nudge. A healthy dose of inter-dimensional radiation never hurt nopony.

Six months ago, the world humanity knew had been irrevocably shattered in a way they would never have imagined. ETS -- Equine Transformation Syndrome -- had arrived, a powerful transformation spell attached to an otherwise ordinary flu virus. Only with the assistance of Equestria in the form of Twilight Sparkle and Starlight Glimmer had ETS been stopped from transforming all of humanity into ponies.

Humanity had been saved, but at a cost. Hundreds of millions of humans had been fully transformed into ponies, and many did not want to go back. The United States was hit especially hard, with over a quarter of its population as ponies. Friction between humans and ponies, Earth and Equestria, has been growing. Families torn apart by ETS had yet to reconcile.

The collision of worlds that the pandemic had brought had only just begun.

There once was a mare who's special talent compelled her to become a movie star. One day she met a stallion in Equestria, but the stallion had been born neither in Equestria, nor as a stallion, but on Earth as a man. Yet there the human screenwriter was, now turned pony and with an uncertain future. The mare became that stallion's guide in this new world, and their perfectly matched dreams and talents gave each other hope for the future. Then the time came for the human turned pony to go back to his home world, lest he suffer a terrible fate. The pair said their goodbyes, and that was to be the end. . . . . .

In a year marked by the greatest number of legal assaults on the rights of trans people to exist that has ever happened, this is my contribution to Pride Month for 2021 - my own, personal, real life transition story, ponified and coated in science fantasy. When the ETS pandemic started spreading throughout the world the south in the United States was hit particularly hard. The south had a culture all its own with a stronger focus on conservative political beliefs, religion, and a strong belief in maintaining tradition and culture.

Having the ETS pandemic come strongest here was one of the greatest ironies ever. Now all of what the south was is about to be upended. For Mathew, a teen from a town in South Carolina it means far more than that. It meanst re-examining who he is and who he is meant to be.

This story is considered an origin story for many of the characters in Pandemic: Picking Up the Pieces. This story is not required reading for that, but if you want to learn more about some of the characters this is where you'll find it.

Story is now complete and editing is underway. Many chapters are still pretty rough. I grew a lot as a writer as this story went on, and there is an increase in quality between the first half of this story the second half, and then the sequel.
