Adagio Dazzle, Aria Blaze and Sonata Dusk are at the top of their game after having regained their singing voices. With high-charting albums, a growing fanbase, and minutes away from playing their first headlining show, they have nearly forgotten about the incident at Canterlot High.

But when Rainbow Dash and Sunset Shimmer confront them backstage, the incident is brought back for them, along with the pain and hardships they had to go through in the months afterwards before getting to where they are now.

As Dash asks the Dazzlings questions and Adagio tells their story, Dash ponders in her mind whether the once-villains truly deserve forgiveness.

Adagio and the others accidentally knocked out Sunset Shimmer. Now they have to masquerade as her to avoid another rainbow blast.

Since they are the closest in hair color and Adagio is a sly fox, she must pretend to be Sunset on the free day of the Mane 6.

Meanwhile, Sonata and Aria are trying to revive Sunset as time goes on.

Sunset has had the same jacket ever since she came to Canterlot High. Rarity and the girls want to treat her to some new clothes, but some things are too important to be replaced.

The first chapter
During spring break, Sunset, her friends, and the CMC decide to go on vacation to the beach. However after Sunset has a small clothing malfunction during a surfing lesson with Rainbow Dash, she finds out something very important...NEVER wear a bikini when surfing.

The second chapter
After a day at the beach alone, Twilight and Sunset discover something they have been oblivious to since Twilight transferred to Canterlot High

SciTwi is on her first date with Sunset Shimmer. Everything seems like it's going well...until Twilight notices that her friends from Crystal Prep have followed her, and seem intent on spying on her date. Can Twilight hide them from Sunset Shimmer? Can she juggle having a good time on her date with keeping the fact that her friends have absolutely no sense of personal space?

Feeling a little down and deciding to go on a walk around Canterlot, Adagio Dazzle reflects on the past months since the Dazzlings' defeat at the Battle of the Bands. It's not really so bad, except for the fact that everyone in town still holds a grudge for what she and her fellow sirens did at CHS those months ago.

Everyone except for the Rainbooms, of course, but Adagio isn't exactly keen on having them teach the magic of friendship quite yet.

It's only when she runs into Sunset Shimmer later in the evening that Adagio realizes that the start of a true friendship is exactly what she needs to brighten her mood.

Adagio thought she was the best there ever was. She always thought and assured that she brought her sisters to victory, or at least got close to it, and that her sisters always screwed up. Well... she was wrong. And now, she thinks differently...

It's been a few months since the Battle of the Bands, and the Dazzlings are slowly but steadily walking down the path to redemption. Sonata has gone back to school, Adagio has gotten a job, and Aria... well, Aria's trying her best.

One day, Adagio comes home from work to find that Sonata has decided to "embrace her inner darkness" and become a goth. Neither Adagio nor Aria are amused. Now, it's up to them to find out just what's wrong with Sonata, and why she thinks she's destined to wear too much mascara.
