The Sisters Doo - COMPLETE After 5 Years · 4:49pm Oct 24th, 2017

Finally, it's done. Took me long enough.

The Daugher Doo: Honorary Cutie Mark Crusader is complete. At 70,000 words, it proved to be quite a "missing chunk" from The Sisters Doo narrative. I had a blast writing it, revisiting the universe and its characters, creating new ones, and filling in a gap that many complained about back in 2012 when The Sisters Doo... sorta finished.

Now it's really over. With The Sisters Doo, Through the Looking-glass and What Pinkie Found There, and The Daughter Doo: Honorary Cutie Mark Crusader all marked as complete, the story is told, and a great weight is lifted off these literary shoulders of mine.

Thank you to everyone who read The Sisters Doo back in 2012. I apologize that it's taken so long to tell the entire story, but I'm happy to announce that I have, and I hope you'll be happy with me.

Of course, there's yet more story to tell. In 2012, I had six total books planned for the legacy of Daring, Ditzy, and their dad. The Sisters Doo 2: Absolute Blank may yet happen. I'd like to finish My Little Xyloto before I start that project, and like I said in a previous blog, I'm going through a major life shift. It's all good, happy stuff, and life is looking bright for Ponky. I hope to share that with you soon in the form of sequel-y horsewords.

Thanks, Wonderfolk. Talk with ya soon,
Ponky

Congrats!

What a milestone, eh?

Goodness, have we all really been here that long? It doesn't exactly feel like yesterday, but certainly it doesn't feel like five years.

Was worth the wait if you ask me

whew das a lot of words

Congratulations. Starting something is easy, finishing is the hard part! I can't wait to re-read everything in one go, and have the whole story together. Is there a thought to the reading order? If the stories were all one big book, how would you organize the chapters?

I can't wait to read the last bit of TDD... once I finish my work for the day. :twilightsheepish:

The Sisters Doo saga as a whole is, I think, one of the most important narratives I've ever read, not necessarily because of the content but because of who I met and befriended as a result of the story (by that point, I was reading Austraeoh, but didn't know who SS&E actually was). I'm glad to hear The Sisters Deux may be in the works; any chance to explore more of this world you've created is a good thing. And I'm super pumped for My Little Xyloto; I loved that story in its initial form and can't wait to see where it goes.

Best of luck with everything happening in your life!

That's a good question. I actually think I'd have to do some heavy editing to turn them into one story.

I had originally (like, WAY originally) planned for Dinky's story to be part of The Sisters Doo all along, but the chapters were getting too long just focusing on Daring, Ditzy, and Rainbow. The first 12 chapters of TSD bounce between the Sisters, Twilight, and Dinky+CMC a lot. Then Dinky+CMC go on their own adventure, and apart from a tiny Twilight blurb at the end of Chapter 14 that leads directly to Through the Looking-glass, the rest of the story focuses on the Sisters (until they all come together at the end).

So I don't really know. The stories run concurrently, and it'd be hard to go back and forth. I honestly think it's probably the most fun to read all of TSD, then go back and read Looking-glass for lots of fun reveals and world-building, and finally read Daughter Doo as a sort of recap of both stories/filling in the gaps.

I'll have to keep thinking about it, though. Good question!

Congrats on finishing, Ponky! I hope to find the time to read it through in a sitting or two some time.

Good show, Ponky. i'll gladly wait for a potential continuation of the universe, if this is what it looks like. The world you made here was whimsical enough to stay within some of the theme we expect, yet serious and adult enough to work with the themes. It felt whole, and you really do excel with making different narrators appear as such. I'm not sure how many people can write as a jaded adult and a child forced out of their depth with competence, but you are one of them. ... I swear, that's a compliment.

Keep on keepin' on. Thank you for the experience you've given us all.

That was extremely kind and well-worded. Thank you.
