I figured I should write something in my blog.... maybe on how I came up with 'A Pony out of Place'!
I have loved Pokemon ever since it first came out waaaaay back in 1996 (Wow I feel old). And ponies have been a love of mine since about April, 2010. I've written a few fanfics but have never really published them due to my inhuman standards of perfection I place upon myself as well as some self-esteem issues.
When I want to think, I put on my headphones and go for a loooong walk. For some reason, walking while listening to music really helps me focus and come up with ideas. The idea of a Pokemon in Equestria is something I've been toying with for a while but when I was watching Pokemon: The Rise of Darkrai, and then the idea really hit me, this would be a great plot device to get a Pokemon into the realm of pastel-coloured ponies! So now that I had a beginning, I just needed to flesh it out. I scoured my brain trying to think of a Pokemon to subject to my torturous imagination and decided on Ponyta... cause Gen 1 Pokemon get no love these days.
Over the next few weeks, I slowly came up with ideas for chapters and have scrapped a lot of them... but I have a storyboard and I'm sticking to it. I also plan to write a series of one-shot chapters after the main story is complete, so look forward to those!
One other idea that I'm tossing up with is starting a Ask Flare Blitz tumblr after I've done the main story. If I get a good enough response, then it shall be done!
