Review #28 Cliche, Tantabus Do Your Worst, Of Maids Memories & Mayflies · 7:25pm Dec 28th, 2016

On the 28th day of December, our favorite reviewer gave to me, another three stories:

Cliche by Calming Moon
Tantabus, Do Your Worst by Georg
Of Maids, Memories & Mayflies by NorrisThePony

Cliche by Calming Moon
(Comedy, Random)
After a strange pony arrives in Ponyville, naturally Pinkie Pie's his first friend. Although Twilight is now curious about his strange appearance. Written as a joke fic.

Review
Pinkie Pie brings Black Soot, an alicorn, to meet Twilight. She inquires how and why he is one, so he explains that Sunset Shimmer is his sister, he is from the human world, and Twilight is Sunset's cousin. This is about where it ends.

This one is actually pretty good for pacing; though it does end with a cliffhanger, no sequel is really needed. It, unfortunately, has a great many double spaces. Other than that, however, it has very few errors. It also does not seem planned out, but it uses that to its advantage by making it comedy/ randomness. The tags work well too.

Score: 7.5/10 Recommendation: Intermediate.

Personal Thoughts: It is a good joke fic, so don't expect something other than one.

Tantabus, Do Your Worst by Georg
(Drama, Sad)
Princess Luna ordered the Tantabus to torture her dreams every night so that she would never consider returning to the dark path she once trod as Nightmare Moon. Luna should have remembered just how difficult it was for her to obey rules before she used her own essence to create what was, in effect, a smaller, more headstrong version of herself. The Tantabus is determined to follow the true purpose of her command, no matter the consequences, large or small. Or very, very small.

Review
The Tantabus must find a way for Luna to be free, so it calls the Main 6 in to save her. But instead, Luna battles the Main 6, and it's plan fails. It must now find a new way to help her, so it decides to endanger the world to do it. It succeeds in making Luna free, and to make sure she does not imprison herself again, becomes her child.

This is so amazingly paced, I cannot believe it. It has very few errors within the text, which is very nice. It also feels extremely planned out, even to the minute details. The tags could use a little work, though, such as adding an "Alternate Universe."

Score: 9/10 Recommendation: Highly Recommended.

Personal Thoughts:

Author's Note: It seemed only logical...

Celestia helps Twilight remember somepony.

Review
Twilight cannot remember what the name of a maid at her castle was, and she is quite annoyed at herself for it. Celestia tells her that the name is not what matter, remembering who she was as a pony is the important part.

This one has great pacing, and probably could not be any better. It has very few errors within the text. And it seems quite planned out. The tag could us some work, though, I would recommend having a "Sad" tag.

Score: 9/10 Recommendation: Recommended.

Personal Thoughts: Gosh darn it FIMFiction users, stop it with the feels... (Me reading these sad fics again in order to review them just after watching Rogue One where my favorite character died. :fluttercry: :raritydespair:)
Anyway, this is a pretty good immortality fic.

Hey, thanks for the recommendation. I'm very happy you liked it!

Thank you so much. That was a lot of fun to write, and I'm happy that you liked it.

I've always liked the Not Evil, Just Misunderstood Villian trope. Soon, Luna will realize just why my mother laughs whenever I ask her, "I was never like that, was I?"

Ironically, if you ignore the off-by-one error of starting on the 25th, it actually is the Third Day of Christmas. :trixieshiftright:

I actually did not plan that, lol :pinkiehappy:.

The "Not evil, just misunderstood," villain is probably my favorite kind.
My siblings laugh more than my mother when I ask that.
