Okay, so, I finally just updated Morrow again. After the gorgeous comic FruitBloodMilkaShake made me for this chapter got featured on EQD I just had to put Bechdel's Law on hold for a bit and finish writing it.
I'm currently working on three other projects right now, and I'm not quite sure yet how I'm going to divide my time! First off, I'm going to be helping Steel Resolve write a short side-story for his lovely story Green. And obviously I still need to put the finishing touches on Chapter 3 of BL and get that published ASAP.
But on the side I'm also working on some other random idea I had for a one-shot, purely for the lulz (and clopz). I even threw money at Spittfire to have her make me some cover art for it! (Yes, purely for the story, and not at all because AJ with glasses is like the hottest thing evar.)

I've spent time around horses, and even being behind one for extended periods, you don't really see the naughty bits. Unless they lift their tails... and that's not usually a sexy thing... ever. If a horse flashes you, it usually means "back up or get splattered".

279901 Well... we are talking about cartoon ponies with no visible naughty bits and prehensile tails... I think the anatomy is potentially different from what we know. Logically they do have naughty bits... because babies have to come from somewhere.

I don't actually strictly compare Little Pony anatomy to terrestrial equine anatomy (other than general positioning which is intuitive for quadrupeds).
Was more a humorous musing regarding conditioned interpretation of general equine body language.
I mean, it's not like I'm saying the Little Ponies void in public...
291146 obviously not, pinkie went to find the outhouse. but actually the outhouse leads me to believe this... in generic positioning mlp anatomy for females is likely to favor biped. that outhhouse would be very difficult for a species which cannot sit in the biped fashion. mlp are functionally both biped and quad, nature would have adapted accordingly with positioning.

Actually, human style toilets would be vastly more suited to quadrupeds than biped females. For a quadruped, sitting upright would position them perfectly, as would simply standing rump first over a bowl. Human females, on the other hand, piss all over themselves while sitting on a toilet as squatting is the natural position for voiding for a biped. Even most semi bipedal primates have anatomy more oriented sensibly rearward. Orangutans being the notable exception. In fact, the only mamals with as or more frontward anatomy than us are marine mamals.
In addition, predator quadrupeds tend to squat to do their business, herbivores only remain standing as a survival trait. For sentient ponies, the benefits of squatting would surely lead to upright sitting, with only balance issues being a hurdle. A hurdle that the much more versatile and flexible ponies could easily overcome.
The only reason the ponies walk with such lift in their tails is to immitate "parade ponies" who's necks are tied back and tails are tied up to make them look like they are prancing.
291776 You've clearly put a lot of thought into this. But I would argue the ways in which ponies lie on their backs in the show is completely impractical if not impossible for a body designed to act only in the quadruped. More to the point, the placement you refer to makes missionary style sex fairly impossible. And that's not a position I want to be an issue. So for the purposes of sexy, pony genitalia follows the biped model.

Completely understandable. Rule of sexy and all. However, it should be notedthat:
1: Missionary is entirely possible as long as the hind legs are vertical or naturally folded along the body rather than sticking straight out parallel to the body. As long as phallus placement and orientation is comparable to traditional stallion. Requiring a back and forth motion rather than up and down.
2: Equines actually cannot spend more than about 30 minutes (semi sure on the time) on their backs before muscle atrophy rapidly sets in.
3: I actually never put much thought into any of this until the issue comes up, then my brain starts retreiving and correlating otherwise irrelevant info and knowledge I have ammassed.
