Hmm, possibly not my best idea to date. · 1:47pm Aug 10th, 2012
So, at the behest (and indeed vicious prodding and poking) of several friends, I wrote my first attempt at a clopfic (or at least a light clopfic. What do you call that? A clipfic?). It was the result of insufficient sleep, and a sight gag in the last story I wrote.
Anyway, now that it's pretty much done, I'm too embarrassed to actually post it. I need to find a proof-reader or two to give me a little objective input on whether I should post the fic, or toss it on the 'The hell was I thinking?' pile and burn it. Burn it with fire!
I'd help, but I'm not too keen on clop. Stuff like "Green" is okay.
Had one of those ideas. It was called "M.O.O.C.E: The Most Overpowered Original Character Ever". It was a massive shipfic whereupon everyone in Equestria gets shipped with this OC Mooce because he got bored, began playing with his world marble collection, tore a hole in space-time, and decided to play with the inhabitants. Everything goes along smoothly until he meets the ever-smashed but over-philosophical-when-sober Berry Punch, who he can't even touch. I had plans to make Cloud Kicker, with personality borrowed from "The Life and Times of a Winning Pony", become enslaved to him and turn into a sort of villain / comic relief as she stalks him endlessly. The story would've ended with a ridiculously-long exposition by a stone-sober Berry Punch explaining why she was immune to his power, which then transforms him into a gray pegasus with a blonde mane with eyes that go in different directions and fries his brain. I had planned to end it with the line "And that's how Derpy Hooves was born".
However, my followers were abundantly clear - I got no views after the first chapter. Like, zero. Even from the subscriber.
So I dropped it from FIMFiction.
279174 Ouch, not even one view? Yes, I could see that smarting just a little. And it's pretty much the same thing I'm afraid of. Not that I exactly have a massive fan-base or anything, but you know what I mean. I've got plenty of idea's for stories, some more reasonable than others ... but I want to at least try all the different genre's (with the exception of the gore tag) as a way to challenge myself. The problem is, I'm a terrible judge of my own work. I just see the flaws and weaknesses, so I'm always hesitant to show things to anyone else.
Maybe I'll toss the story up later, after another self edit pass or two, and see what happens. If it goes completely pear shaped, I'll follow your lead and yank the thing so fast it'll leave friction burns on my profile!

Yeah. Not a single view. Normally, I'd write it just to spite 'em then, but this one... I don't know. It wasn't exactly a highly-motivated piece anyway, something I just kind of threw together. You can actually read some of my other ideas in the group "The Idea Factory". Some are just nuts. Others I just don't have time for.
Yeah, toss it up, see what kind of reaction it gets, then go from there. Can't hurt!
279189 It's pretty unusual to get no views on ... anything! Any chance it was glitched somehow, and wasn't showing up for anyone even after the site said it was approved? That might explain it.

I don't know. Regardless, I got zero views. Maybe I should've kept it for posterity. "I posted something on the Internet and got absolutely zero views on it!" Uploading and updating in the morning doesn't exactly bode well for my stories, either... Very few people are up when I get up, and peak time is after I've gone to sleep.
You are too bloody right about the early morning posting. Getting your story approved in the middle of the night or early morning is nearly a death sentence for views unless you have a huge referral network. And of course, it's hard as hell to predict just when your story's going to pass approval and hit the front page queue.
Not that I'm bitter or anything ...
If you still have a copy of your story, I'd say you should definitely try posting it again and assume that first time around was just a glitch.
I'll do it! I love clop!
279224 Masochist! Thank you, I sent a PM with the link. Hopefully I won't be able to hear the horrified screaming from here
