    Do not adjust your sets

Hey all, sorry but this isn't Rust.

This is Handyman speaking, for those of you who don't know, I'm that guy who writes that fic with that other guy who does the things. Those of you who aren't laughing at the fact I now have an account with a batpony avatar, you have no soul and your first born child will be ginger.

Why Con-crit is Better Than Flipping the Fuck Out. · 12:57am Aug 9th, 2012

"Any reviewer who expresses rage and loathing for a novel is preposterous. He or she is like a person who has put on a full suit of armor and attacked a hot fudge sundae."
-Vonnegut

With Kurt's words ringing in my ears, I realized that this applies to a great deal more than just novels. The world as a whole would do well to heed his words... There simply is no point in attempting to stomp down on something that is put out only for the intent of enjoyment.

Art (be it written, drawn, painted, sculpted, welded, etc.) is meant to be thought about, above all else. I suspect that some people are frightened about the thoughts they come to. Fear leads to hatred, eventually. According to Yoda, if I'm not mistaken. There are those who will attempt to destroy anything that frightens them...and there are those who attempt to make sense of it all.

I like to call these people "con-critters."

Those who take something they see fault with, and attempt to rationalize it a little. Guide it, if they can. Help it, if wanted.

You should listen to them.

Not sure where I was going with this. Almost out of booze, as it is. Anyway, cheers everybody.

deep man...

Avi

I enjoy your drunken ramblings, continue.... :pinkiecrazy:

Makes sense, though I have a feeling you wanted to write more, but couldn't think of it.

Rust can only be as deep as his bottle of booze.

Just messing with ya mate, It's definitely something to keep in mind.

I agree. It's definitely the right approach when explaining fetishes. :raritywink:

This line of thinking. I like it.

Sometimes the wisest notions are shared when drunk. Cheers, indeed.

:moustache:
One shouldn't even have to explain the difference.
the two terms are self-descriptive.

the foolish cannot see their folly for the addlement of their wits.

Sounds like you need more booze.

You can never have enough booze.

:fluttershbad:>:twilightangry2:, :twilightangry2:>:flutterrage:, and :flutterrage:>:pinkiesick: Yoda's words translated to ponemotacons. May require secondary translation. Don't ask were this came from, the innermost depths of my mind are a place even I don't venture into too often for fear of what might lurk in there. :pinkiecrazy:yayes

That was deep stuff, man. If getting drunk makes you that philosophical, you must be amazing sober.

*hugs*

Y'know, you've given me such enjoyment with Echo so far, I think I'm obliged as an Equestria Daily pre-reader to buy you a drink (and probably dinner) if I ever meet you IRL. Keep that in mind :ajsmug:

I have only met two "con-critters" on this site, i hated them both. Granted i do see the sense in having some realization in a fiction, i do, but they take it to extremes. I remember a person while back wrote a fic that was 1500 words long, it wasn't bad, it had its funny moments and it was even featured But a con-critters posted something in the commented, it was over 2000 words long complaining on how the fic didn't make sense. So i clicked on his page, lo and behold, he had never written a story before. Which is something that makes me sick about this site and whose people.

A story is meant to be shared and loved, not torn apart because someone finds fault in it.
Because of these types of people, some stories will never be read because of something they said about it, usually negative.
So Rust, I love you as a fellow adventure author "No Homo" but when it come to con-critters
i say shoot on sight. Before they breed and spread like a virus.

With love, Your Author KoS

Con-Crits - I respect these guys... unless they are way too detailed and nitpicky.
No Comment Haters - I HATE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU THAT DON'T SAY A THING ABOUT HOW MY STORY CAN BE IMPROVED.

Amen to that, Every author wants feedback, good or bad. comment are the lifeblood of a good story. For the author anyway.

Well said. I approve of this train of thought.

Almost out of booze? That's a tragedy right there.

Very interesting post...

time to read more fanfictions...
YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Your speech has a very intimate connection with the debate about fanfiction's legitimacy as an entertaining medium.

Vonnegut has the best quotes.

When faced with something humanity doesn't understand, they attempt to destroy it. The amount of trueness in this is incredible. A movie that expresses this is "The Day the Earth Stood Still"

Aliens! Let's kill them!

Best piece of knowledge I could ever be graced by. Thanks for the rationalized blog post and that Vonnegut quote, Cap'n Rust.

~S.W

Rust, I'm glad I can always depend on you for a bit of wisdom strangely relevant to my current situation. I'm not sure how that works, but like Twilight Sparkle, I have learned to know better than to question the nonsensical.

i think now your over-thinking juussst a liiiiiiiittle bit too much:unsuresweetie:

A cheers to you to sir:eeyup:

If I ever needed further proof that alcohol can be a writers best friend in the right instance, I'll show them this post.

I see where you're going bro. Just take another swig of Guinness.

If this is true, is hating the twilight saga pointless? Damn you, Rust... you just had to make my brain argue with itself and give me a frickin' headache... again.
But if it's all the same to you, I'll hate whatever the bloody hell I want. Thinking about stuff too hard hurts.
And on a side note, I actually have had a very bad experience with a hot fudge sundae.
It was not fun :fluttershyouch:

"... pony up the goods."

I found that phrase to be rather ironic. But still, that link should be clicked by all.

I can't believe you posted this! I just went on a rant about Griffon the Griffon's central protagonist. In hindsight, it's not something I'm proud of.

Better not touch my sundae, or shit is going to get real.

That quote made me laugh.
Also, deep thoughts, they are good.

Mistakes, Yoda does not make.

wow, this shits chill bro. I'm diggin these lines of thought
