So yesterday the most amazing pony animation I've ever seen was released after two and a half years of work. Incredible animation quality, especially during one scene I won't spoil, many feels for the princesses, especially Celestia, and a beautiful song. I found it especially fitting since my current Celestia-focused story has her resulting grief as a major part of the plot.
Do yourself a favor and watch it. This is some high-quality stuff, up there with Children of the Night. Enjoy.
Very nice. I'm in school for animation (3D) and I'm still impressed (and a little jealous).
I never did like the rather simplistic neglect angle, though it is apparently canon. Mostly because I don't think that even back then Celestia was capable of the level of neglect that would lead to Nightmare Moon if that was the major factor. I feel that there had to be others that really led to it, but it was the percieved neglect of Luna's issues that brought everything together.
Just, just.... damn man. That was one of, if not the best, animation I have seen to date. It was just... beautiful is the word, but not good enough I feel. I just got up 20 minutes ago, and I just shed some tears.
Why Drefsab? Why you make my cry by watching?

the background art reminds so much of Legend of Mana in a good way
The fact that this guy spent two years, TWO YEARS, doing all of this animation by hand, not 3D, not flash puppets; 100% hand drawn old school animation!
I think the best part for me visually was the midair fight and Celestia tucking in Luna hit me right in the feels.
