Bronycon, the Big 1000, Patreon, and General State of the Writer · 12:42am Jul 30th, 2014
Who am I? What am I? Where have I been? Wait, it's almost August already? Oh noooooooooooooo...
So I guess I have an account here or something? That's cool. I've been kinda using it. I mean, I post site blogs sometimes and even comment on things every so often. How about a personal blog, then? That sounds like a good use of time!
Bronycon
First thing's first: I'm headed to bronycon once again this year, and doing the same thing I've been doing for the past six conventions or so. You guessed it: Selling mousepads! I have fancy new business cards and three hundred mousepads behind me, which I will be eager to peddle out to all my fellow bronies. I'll be at booth 1118, along with fellow writer MidnightDancer and an artist acquaintance of mine, MXC. Come down and say hello, because we've got mousepads, art prints, and soap. You probably need all of those things in your life, so you may as well hit them all at once, right? Here's a little diagram for you:
The Big 1000
Now, if you've been following me for a while, you might know I don't really do too many milestones. I don't actually think I've done any, to be honest. Maybe 500? I don't remember one. I usually just do annual things. This time, though, it's different. I've actually hit four digits worth of followers, and that's kind of awesome to me. The only other places I have these kind of numbers are on YouTube (because of one video) and Tumblr (because I reblog other people's art). Having this kind of popularity here is really something else. I suppose my next goal is to get onto the Top 50 list, which seems to take more and more followers to get onto every day. I'm sure with dedication, though, I'll reach it in no time!
But really, though, ya'll are awesome and I'm glad you like my stuff.
Speaking of people liking my stuff...
Patreon
Now, first off, don't get too excited.
I'm not actually launching this yet, mainly because I have literally no idea what to do with the patron rewards. I mean, sure, I could offer things like stories for people, but that's more work to do and I'd be kinda forced into doing patron rewards until I finished them, and that's just no fun. I've been thinking of offering mousepads or something to people, or providing 'behind the scenes' info, such as drafts, idea documents, etc. Stuff like that.
And by all means, if any of you have an idea for something I could offer patrons, I'd love to hear it. That's currently the only thing I'm hung up on. I wanna give to people, but not so much it's taking away from other writing, y'know?
When I finally do get around to finalizing it, I'll put out another blog. I don't want to make it public until I'm good and ready... and y'know, writing more. That's an important one, I'm pretty sure.
And speaking of writing, that's a great sequitur into...
State of the Writer
Literally me.
So I don't think I've ever really done one of these before (except for early last year when I fooled myself into thinking I could write every day), and to be honest I just kinda stole the idea from NinesTempest when I saw his recent one. BUT WHATEVER LET'S GO.
You've probably noticed that I haven't exactly written anything new lately. I've done some commissions this year, but most of those aren't on this account for certain reasons. I haven't even added updates to my unfinished stories. I don't know what it is, but I've just been doing so many other things instead of writing. It's mostly video games, but there's other more productive things in there like managing EQAD and its tumblr, and just trying to improve my quality of life in general. Better hygiene, more activity, eating healthier, etc. All of that has come together in this big blob of not-writing which I'm trying to change, but it's a slow process.
I really do want to put out another chapter of Iron Mare before summer ends, but before that I need to finish up some commissions and probably drop others. Speaking of, if you've commissioned me at any point and haven't heard anything about it, send me a PM or something and I'll refund you. At this point I just feel bad about taking half payment and not getting to them. I'd rather you just have your money back, honestly. That'd be some guilt off my shoulders.
But yeah, writing! I'm working on a prompt fic right now, which I hope to release later tonight (even if I don't think it's very good). It's something, and I think that's better than nothing. Beyond that I have two commissions I'm definitely finishing, then after those are done I will FINALLY work on the next chapter of Iron Mare. Like, it's actually happening this time, guys. I swear.
Also I can't let Aquaman finish his story before I finish Iron Mare, because I have like a year head start on him. That would just be a failure on my part and I would have to throw my keyboard out the window. No one wants that, I don't think.
Whew... I think that's about it for this blog post. It got more wordy than I expected, but that's okay. You people like reading. But if you don't...
tl;dr: Going to Bronycon, selling mousepads. Table 1118. Be there.
tl;dr: Hit 1000 followers. Thanks kids!
tl;dr: Probably starting a Patreon soon. That means more content. Get excited.
tl;dr: Writing has been slow but I'm getting back into it. PM for commission refunds if you want.
Thanks for reading! Or not reading, if you just scrolled to the bottom. Whichever, I don't care. You're here and that's what matters.
Nicholas Cage has approved this blog.
Yeah, kick Aqua in the face! >:V

This is a challenge and I accept it gladly.
2327734
Actually, I bet you could take it. :O That would be cool.
I hope you never reach 1001

Kid I already passed that.
Is it possible to ban Knighty? Is it possible for a moderator to permanently ban other moderators? Just a few quick questions.

Theoretically, yes? But knighty has access to the databases and whatnot, so he could easily just undo it.
See you there.
Again.
