Soarin' with Apples ending author's notes · 5:50pm Jul 14th, 2014
It's finally done! After two long years it's finally done.
Thank you for all of the faves, upvotes and comments. They really helped me stay motivated to finish.
Below is some information about the story as I was working on it.
When trying to find a stallion for AJ, I looked on the wiki and scrolled through all the earth pony stallions. I was looking for a stallion who would be perfect for AJ. Originally wrote a scene where Soarin teaches Scoots to fly a little and then asks Rainbow to do it. Thought it would be better for Rainbow to teach her
Ch 8.
There were several ways that I could have broken Applejack and Clover up. One alternative to how I broke them up was to have Clover break up with Applejack when she told him. I felt that was too out of character for him. Another thing I could have done was have him agree to stay with Applejack and then eventually break up with her because the baby put too much strain on them for him to handle. I thought this option would drag the story on too long and I had no idea how to write that kind of conflict. The option I went with, I thought, was the most emotionally tugging and built the most suspense.
Ch 13
I had planned for a scene involving going to the gala and selling out, but had to cut it for length constraints and overall plot relevance.
Ch. 15
