I have written two stories about the exact same plot, but with radically different tones.
One, called "Twilight Sparkle is Paralyzed" is a comedy.
The other, called "Rainbow Dash is Paralyzed" is a tragedy.
They have both been submitted and approved at exactly the same time.
I wonder which will get more views, faves, and likes? Read them both and let me know!
>inb4 all your followers give the same ratings for both fics to piss you off.
When your muse is paralyzed, it's called writers block. Eager to see the results of this.
You know, it was rather obvious from the start that the comedy story would be more popular. People would rather laugh than feel.
Because feeling hurts.
When presented as an experiment, my first inclination is to read neither. Presented thusly, the funny story sounds like a serious topic being made fun of, and the serious story sounds so stereotypical and twist-free that I have no interest in reading it.
From this perspective, I'd be more likely to read the sad one if it were about any character other than RD, who has been crippled, maimed, and slain by authors more than anypony else. Fluttershy, say, or Applejack. In the same vein, I'd be more likely to read the comedy version if it were anypony other than Twilight Sparkle. In fact, of the 36 possible combinations of Mane 6 comedy-tragedy quadriplegia stories, you've found the pair I'm least likely to read.
That having been said, I follow you because your stories are enjoyable, so at some point, I'll read them.
You brilliant bastard.
It's comedy AND tragedy?
Bet it's written by St. Jimmy.
