On Adjustment: Important News and Changes · 10:10am May 10th, 2014
Adjustment is now on Hiauts.
Why? I'm not happy with it, at all. I have a lot more experience under my belt now, but adjustment continues to be bleh for me. The rubbish pacing is by far my biggest problem, a problem caused by my initial lack of ambition when it came to writing it. I know a lot of you might not be happy about it, but I feel like I should deliver a story that isn't just popular because of it's niche appeal, but because it has a strong story and good writing.
Since I started writing a year ago, I've grown in technical ability in all areas. Adjustment no longer represents what I can do as a writer, it acts like a strange side project which I'm unwilling to work on with any substantial amount of time. I've gotten increasingly un-satisfied with it, it's my first ever serious attempt at writing anything, and it shows.
As a result, from this point onwards all my effort will be focused on completing both my other stories. After that, I'll give Adjustment another crack, a significant one, with wide reaching changes to the story and structure. Chapters will no longer be one thousand words long with significant event compressed down into footnotes. Toffee will no longer simply accept the changes within the first chapter, or jump Mac's bones within a moments notice.
The original chapters will be kept up for now, but when the time comes they will be removed. If you really do like the story in it's current state feel free to archive it.
Honestly?
I can definitely get behind this. Your writing, with effort and time, has definitely come a very long way. The King and I definitely has potential, and I haven't read Crash Course yet.
Good luck writing, looking forward to your next updates.
