King and I: afterthoughts and what I'm doing next · 2:18pm Mar 20th, 2015
Just a bit of a post story blog post to talk about what I'm doing, now that I no longer have the obligation to complete my longest story. (It's a good feeling, by the way.)
First off, I'd like to thank everybody once again for reading the King and I, your comments and reactions really made it a joy to write. I feel proud having pushed myself to write something so long, and it's my first real ambitious attempt at a larger story.
Secondly, let's talk about what I'm doing right now. Writing, in case you were wondering. I've gotten a bit tired of doing longer stories for the moment and have decided to do myself some quick and dirty one-shots. As I write this blog post I have a 4000 word griffon TF story in the oven (which isn't even to the actual TF scene yet. So it'll probably be a long one.) I'm also planning on dusting off Crash Course, because I've left that for far too long.
A gentleman contacted me recently to do a piece of commissioned work for him, so I'm also working on that too. I probably won't be posting that on fimfiction, (I haven't asked really; and the first chapter was written by somebody else.) I have a lot of ideas tumbling around right now, including a changeling focused one-shot and another diamond dog one. But even then I'd like to hear some ideas from you guys. If you have a cool, TF based idea post it down in the comments and I'll think about writing it.
And just to nip this in the bud.
"Are you doing commissions?"
Maybe, I'll have to think on it. I'm only really doing that one request because he was kind enough to get in contact with me directly. It seems like a nice way of making some extra money, but I'll have to figure whether I like writing under constraints or not before going further. So please don't send me PMs asking to do it, if I do eventually open commissions, I'll be sure to tell everybody about it.
"When can we expect these one-shots?"
Soon, I've really blasted through writing this which means it's something I like. The griffon story is coming along nicely, and after that I'll focus on putting out the changeling one, after that I'll probably finish a diamond dog story too. You can expect the griffon story in a week or two.
"But I want to read more now!"
Then check out this guest chapter I wrote for my good pal TwistedSpectrum's TF anthology thing. It's pretty old, but a lot of people aren't aware of it.
What about the Adjustment re-write? How's it coming?
2894109 I haven't even touched it yet to be honest.
My main issue is that as a concept it's quite boring and not really "long story" material. I'm going to take the core idea and change it to make it more entertaining. I think I tried to go between clop story and serious story too much, and it's just a mess. The re-write is most likely going to get rid of the slice of life stuff and stick with the sex angle. Some people might not like that, but I just don't feel like it would work if it was any longer.
I'm thinking of giving it a bit of a darker flourish, because right now it's very generic HiE fare.
Having Twilight accidentally bring Toffee to Equestria? Boring, unjustifiable, not interesting to read. CMC stuff? How about every HiE turned pony story ever.
You see what I mean? So yes, I'll get onto that soon. I'm probably going to try and keep it at around 30,000 words or less.

2894146 It's still going to be similar just with less time wasting, so I don't really feel the need. The dark stuff is mostly going to be set dressing for the clop parts, which are still between Big Mac and Toffee.

How about a human-to-deer story? Or a story about Sombra possessing a human on earth while turning the human's body that Sombra is possessing in a anthro version of his body that looks like this (for the unedited version of that pic try searching these words "artist:bgn,king sombra,throne" on derpibooru with the Filters on all images mode). Or a story about Sombra's horn got to earth and it been found by a female human and the horn got on her head then transform her body it the body of Sombra and it turns out that her boyfriend it not only a fan of MLP: FIM he also is a big Sombra fan (that story idea is inspired by this ). Will post some more story ideas later.
