shorts! · 5:45am Jan 22nd, 2014
I've been working on my next story for a while now. Level Dasher and I have been editing for... three weeks... four? I don't even remember anymore. I forget that editing takes at least as much time as writing it. And my next story is my longest yet.
I didn't want to wait forever, so while I had a little free time I wrote a short: "The Double Entendre." Turns out, writing a short is REALLY hard. Everything has to be set up in as few words as possible. I did enjoy it, and the nice response I've gotten from it in the... hour or so it's been out.
Well, Level Dasher and I are putting the finishing touches on my next story. Expect it to be released soon. I still liked doing the short story tho, especially in the comedy genre. Maybe I should slip a short story (less than 8k words) in between the longer ones?
What do you prefer to see in the stories you read? 5k words, 25k words, or 250k words?
It's not the size; it's how you use it.
To me, a story of any length can be good as long as the author knows what they're doing. Although I pay more attention to genre and description than to word count when looking for a story to read, so take that as you will.
