I know I said I was on hiatus until the holiday season was over, but then I got sick and missed a couple days of work. And... that pretty much sucks. So, I guess... on the bright side I did manage to read a few stories that I really liked and I thought I'd share with you all and hopefully, these stories and authors can get more recognition.
The Silent Type by MrAskAPirate

This is the story of Big Macintosh reacting to the world that is constantly changing around him. It has him reflecting on what his purpose is and how his sisters are growing up. It a nice short story that shows a lot of what Big Macintosh is thinking. A lot of thought and emotion went into this and I'm glad I read it. It's just a nice little story about accepting change and living for today. The story itself is pretty simple, but after a mess of over plotted stories that I've read (I'll get to that later), it was nice just to read something simple, but in my opinion effective. I recommend it. But don't take my word for it, check it out for yourself.
Wilted Roses by electreXcessive

Why do all romances end in death? Anyway, in this story Spike is in the hospital on his death bed and this is Rarity attempting to cope with his death. And... that's pretty much it. Its still good and I still enjoyed it. The length of the story I felt hurt it, but apparently he did it for a contest with his friend and the rules were a 2000 word limit. It's still pretty emotional and its still well written and even a guy who isn't a SpikeXRarity person enjoyed it so, I would check it out if I were you.
Teatime with Apple Bloom by TambourineBlossom

Category: Sad, Romance, Slice of Life
I don't who why Sad category is on here, but this story is a simple story about Apple Bloom having teatime with Zecora. Apple Bloom gets feelings for someone that isn't a pony and asks Zecora for advice. We see the story from Zecora's point of view and her mind begins to weave what Apple Bloom is getting at. I won't spoil the ending for you and you'll have to read it for yourself to find out. The story is pretty good and for the short amount it had, I think it did a good job. But don't take my word for it, check it out and see what you think.
