As mean - and sometimes confusing - as those EqD people are about fanfics, they do know what good music is in the community, and I want my stuff up there when I get to it.

1519990 I think they had other issues beyond that, such as the letter itself, which they linked in my ban notice. They also an offhand (completely and obviously sarcastic) comment that I made in the IHEQD forum about the pre-readers, which was never meant to be taken seriously. The fact that it was in response to another off the wall sarcastic comment should have clued them in to that.
But maybe omitting the names would've helped.

Like, professionalism is a treasured virtue for site staff and all, and maybe it's not entirely to EqD's credit that they didn't handle this with the utmost of it, but, uh...
To be fair you kind of did publicly post your rejection letter and subsequent reply in multiple public places, adding on a lot of mocking commentary as you did so. I mean...
Not to mention you named names from private correspondence, which... uh, isn't very sporting behavior at the best of times, and even less so when you're including mocking take-thats in public.
By all rights it seemed you'd hit a point where any reply they could make to you would either be conceding the point (unlikely, since they did have a couple legitimate grievances, despite possibly not being articulated very well in the rejection) or else you'd post their response up in a public place and encourage people to point and laugh.
That strikes me as a catch-22, and I'm not terribly surprised EqD didn't want to play that game with you. It's great to expect professionalism from EqD, but if you play a game of publicly mocking the letters they send, it's hard to argue you were being very professional back.

If you decided to not completely make a scene and whine about your rejection like every other subpar, EQD denied author in this fandom, then maybe you wouldn't have been banned from the site.
Also, there are other authors who have been banned than you, so your badge is about as useful as the plastic police badges at the dollar store.

I agree with you on all points, except for one.
Why would EqD care about someone publicly mocking them? That happens all of the time. In fact, I do it all the time on places that aren't on my blog posts. XD Most of the time, it is for fun, of course. I have been rejected already, and I agreed with them on all points. I had nothing to fight about.
1520267 EQD has rejected many of my stories before for reasons that were never applied to other fics. I have documented these instances both in my previous blog post as well as in other posts around the site (such as IHEQD); it's not hard to find the threads which document instances which happened to me as well as other authors.
Their pre-reading process was inconsistent and often applied different standards to different authors depending on who was the pre-reader.
This instance was just the latest in a number of instances with EQD.
Is it possible that my stories are all complete crap and that's the only reason why they rejected them? Yes, it's possible. Unlikely, and objectively unprovable given the subjective nature of art, but I will concede that it's a possibility given said subjective nature.
But if that's the case, then why were all of the stories that I pointed out accepted when they had the same or even worse flaws than mine? There is a demonstrably provable double standard at work in the blog's operation. Though I can look past these slip ups once or twice, the fact is that their operation is consistent only in one thing: its inconsistency.
However, even given all of this, I can understand that EQD is not primarily a fiction publishing house; it is a news site. 90% of fan fiction readers, I would say, browse Fimfiction primarily, and maybe some of them glance at EQD sometimes.
Again, getting onto EQD would be nice, in the same way that getting into some Ivy League College would be nice, and I'm sure all of your friends will look up to you for a while, and maybe you will get a few employers to give you interviews and not toss your resume into the pile with the stack of the other sixty.
But, at the end of the day, once you get out into the real world and start working, it doesn't really matter what school you went to. EQD can give an author a headstart, and again it's really nice, and good for you if you get on there, but if you only end up getting into UCLA instead of Stanford, UCLA's still a decent school and nothing to be ashamed of.
That was a complicated analogy, but the bottom line is yeah, I was banned from EQD, but I'm still doing alright here on Fimfiction.

Sure, it might have been a bit inflammatory, but this is the internet. That thing was positively sparkling and clean in comparison to most of the discourse on this thing. Anyone who thinks EQD is in any way 'Professional' and thus deserving of professional courtesy needs to get their brains examined.
