college is hard · 7:08pm Sep 9th, 2013
I suppose that I went into college thinking that things would be easy, seeing as how I've always been able to handle myself academically without too much worry. And man oh man was I wrong. Maybe a lot of it is because I'm trying new things, like taking an engineering class, but I'm going to need to put in a lot more work than I thought would be necessary if I'm gonna do as well as I want to.
Lab reports will be the death of me.
Anyways, I guess my reason for posting this is half me explaining why I've been so quiet lately, half me updating you guys on stuff you don't care about, and half me just wanting to say that I'll write when I can (yes, there's one and a half reasons). Because honestly, I really, really miss writing the way I could in the past. I haven't had a steady schedule in ages, and I guess that's okay for something that's more of a hobby than anything, but I really want to get back into the swing of things at some point--however far down the road that point is.
And I guess that's it for now. It was good to post something again and mark 600+ social notifications as read.
Until next time,

Good luck, I hope you don't have to go far for your classes or at least not everyday.
Never, never, never go into classes, especially college, with low expectations of difficulty. Most of the time you'll end up getting the full force of it without expecting it. Be prepared to dedicate most of your time toward it, and you'll find that either it's what you're gonna be doing or you'll have more free time than you thought. It can vary greatly. College is a big challenge for many; just be ready.
But most importantly, don't let pony fiction get in the way of your life. All of us coming here and sharing and reading is a hobby and mainly for fun. For example, I have editing I do for other authors, but I put real life work first.
With all the possible stress of college (stress level may vary), the last thing you need is worrying about putting out a fic on time. Even if that means stopping writing entirely, that's okay. You can't make a living off of writing pony fics, but you can from a college education. Obviously I'm taking it to the extreme, but I'm just trying to make a point.
It may sound odd to discourage a writer I follow to write, but you're more than that to me, just like most people on this site and in this fandom. We, as bronies (and knowing eachother more than just strangers), are all friends. We may not know eachother in real life but thanks to this wonderful community all of us can connect on a much deeper level. And I would much rather see you succeed in life than see you write a bunch of entertaining fics.
That was my spiel. Maybe it helped, maybe you didn't need it at all. I just felt like putting it out there. Thanks for listening.
We support you! It gets better, trust me.
