Almost done, yay! (or maybe not)

    Hi guys and gals.
The good news is that I finally finished the final chapter of After Destiny.
The bad news is that I absolutely hate its last scene. It gives no closure and pacing is weird.

    Subtle differences

Human fiction: "Curses, I didn't expect a thunderstorm right now."
Pony fiction: "Curses, I forgot there was a thunderstorm scheduled right now."

    Human fiction: "It's a 6 hour drive, or a 1 hour flight."
Pony fiction: "It's a 6 hour flight, or we can take Twilight-Train."

Human fiction: "The mailman lost my mail."
Pony fiction: "The dragon burnt my mail."

    [no title]

Ending WRR turned out to be a great decision. I'm now leaving my comments in the stories themselves, where I can actually interact with the authors and they become much more useful. It also helps me think about how I'm writing as well, and how I can invite comments to my own stories (well, the two of them), something I sorely miss. I'm inclined to believe my WRR is gone for good.

    I have over-estimated myself

Progress has been excruciatingly slow but fiercely steady. I'm getting like a dozen or two words in every day. I'm finding the time to write, even if it's not very much, and when I do, it's hard to concentrate and get momentum. I could call it writer's block, it probably qualifies many people's definition. I could actually cop out, polish my first three scenes and call it chapter 2 of 3. But I

Weekly Reading Report V, 312 Games Ponies Play, and other fic indication blogs · 5:07am Feb 12th, 2013

Hi everypony

This week started slow but finished fast. I got a grand total of 187681w. I noticed I was just focusing too much in continuing existing stories but I'm glad I have read mostly new things for the past three days, however it didn't amount to much I really think I can indicate (plus it's late and I'm tired), so tonight's WRR is going to be a shortie.

Lighthearted and fun indication is going to be Pinkie and the Brain by Mad Derper, a one shot with almost 4kw. Note that it's different than the fic with the same title by ItsDoctorWhooves that I mentioned last week, because this one actually does have Brain from Pinky and the Brain. It explores the first reactions to what would happen if Pinky and Pinkie Pie swapped places. It's quick, it's fun, and very amusing.

I Love Changelings hive buzzes about Hard Reset by Eakin, for which I read the first 25kw yesterday (which counts) and the remainder today (which doesn't*).
It's your standard action movie time loop thing. Very well written, very well characterized, and a true page-turner! But it's not particularly remarkable from a creative standpoint… until the time loop is finished. And then I notice that there's still like over a third of the fic to go and it's about post-traumatic stress disorder. It sounds boring, doesn't it? But I swear, this is the most gripping part of the fic. After watching Twilight break bit by bit, and, in a way, breaking along with her, just to stop the world itself from breaking, it's impressive how it's much more difficult to mend afterwards… This was great, it truly was.

* My reading week is Monday through Sunday. This is my self-imposed arbitrary rule and I will abide rigorously.

…yeah, that's all. On Games Ponies Play, I will have to say that it was also a rather unremarkable episode, except for the incredibly satisfactory link with Just For Sidekicks, and that Rainbow Dash on glass ceiling gag. Oh Celestia did we laugh at that. I have to say, though, in the place of that judge, I'd definitely fail the city. Ordinary tourists treated like crap? That's no good.

So, I was just checking my notifications as usual and I just recently started following Wanderer D, right, and then I saw this review blog. And I went wooooowwww, this is so awesome! Several people write long reviews and toss pictures! *_* Nice! But… but… but I can't compete against that! Then I went all emo (*pulls mane over most of face*) and my little commentary blog is worth nothing, I'm still to get a comment, and blah blah blah…  And I decided, hey, you know what? I'm doing this for myself. This is my journey. And I'm feeling better about my life, more in control of it, by creating my own little spontaneous routines like that. And I do count the words, because that's what I'm interested in (as mentioned previously, I like numbers). I do just write a short comment on what I think the story is worth, because that's how quick I like stories described to me before I investigate further. And I don't add pictures because, well, whatever, I'm lazy ok? I'll probably figure some way to automate this part eventually. In short I like taking this Monday night 40 minute break to toss words into the void, because I like how it makes me think. And that's it.

On my writing, because I promised I'd talk about this today. The truth of the matter is I didn't strictly write a single word. I did however check my existing notes and planned. I reminisced how hard it is to write Zecora. And I edited two chapters for friends start to end. So yeah, not a total failure of that particular goal, but still a failure. Next week it won't be so! ò.Ó
