TSD and Looking-glass Status: Complete · 5:59pm Feb 1st, 2013

Well, I'm about to do it... as soon as I post this blargh, I'm going to post the final chapters of both "The Sisters Doo" and "Through the Looking-glass and What Pinkie Found There" and mark them as complete. My very first fanfiction epic is almost over. It's surprisingly emotional for me.

I'll quickly address the main concerns that many readers had with TSD's ending. From what I've gathered, it was 1) rushed and 2) Dinky's character was too important for how little time she had spent in the rest of the fic. I agree with both of those things, but I feel I ought to communicate an important fact or two with the wonderfolk. As many of you know, I'm leaving for Italy to serve a mission which severely restricts my internet access and the types of activities I'll be allowed to do over a two-year period. Writing and uploading fanfiction is definitely not allowed, but I really wanted to complete these stories for all the people reading them. I'm very proud of everything I've published, but if I had more time I would have lengthened the ending and written a second side-story called "The Daughter Doo: Honorary Cutie Mark Crusader" which would have documented Dinky and the CMC's adventures getting to Haissan.

As it happened, I ran out of time, and I thought you would be okay with inventing their part of the story on your own. But I forgot how seriously the majority of FiMFiction takes its art, and I apologize for that. In my mind, "Sisters" + "Looking-glass" + "Honorary CMC" would have made one story altogether, and Dinky's addition in TSD21 would have made more sense. I often forget that you, the readers, don't share my knowledge of what's coming up next. Heheh... well, I guess we write and learn, eh? My next epic will be better.

Also, many of you criticizing Dinky's wisdom seem to have forgotten the effects of the tumtum tree. But I digress.

I hope you enjoy the final conclusions, and please leave comments with your thoughts, good and bad. I'll be sure to incorporate the lessons I learn into whatever stories I write when I return in 2015.

I might get one or two more blarghs out before I leave. Until then, arrivederci, wonderfolk.

I haven't read this, and now I feel ashamed.

DON'T GOOOOOOOO!!!!! WE NEED YOU MORE!!!!!

Also, many of you criticizing Dinky's wisdom seem to have forgotten the effects of the tumtum tree.

I thought all it did was make you more uffish? :rainbowhuh:

It's really silly that they don't even allow you to write stories for two years. You'd think they'd encourage creativity.

I wonder how the tumtum tree got its name. Is it, like, the throat or rather stomach of the world? If it was stated in the fic then I'm afraid I forgot.

In my mind, "Sisters" + "Looking-glass" + "Honorary CMC" would have made one story altogether, and Dinky's addition in TSD21 would have made more sense. I often forget that you, the readers, don't share my knowledge of what's coming up next.

A very fair point. I'm glad you realized we lacked the knowledge you had and found the points raised fair. That said, don't feel hesitant to write The Daughter Doo: Honorary Cutie Mark Crusader when you come back :pinkiehappy:

Have fun in Italy, Ponky. You will be missed.

Ditto.
They're on my read later list.
If you look at my profile, you can probably tell it's pretty full.

I'm very proud of everything I've published, but if I had more time I would have lengthened the ending and written a second side-story called "The Daughter Doo: Honorary Cutie Mark Crusader" which would have documented Dinky and the CMC's adventures getting to Haissan.

Oh come now...there'll be plenty of time for everything once you get back, dude.

Well, in case I somehow miss your last blog before you head out to Italy, I'll just say this:

God go with you, buddy. :pinkiesad2:

Or, to be geekier about it...live long and prosper.

God dammit, i'll have to read faster!
Gotta go fast...

Good luck in Italy mate. See ya SpacePonky. :pinkiesad2:

782505 Dunsparce is the name, reading speed's my ga-- ok sorry.

Ah, well as I mentioned to you before, you aren't the only author leaving for their two year journey. I wonder if we can pull together a nice welcome party for y'alls' return. You will be missed, but we understand that duty calls!

Controversial ending? I'm three chapters behind in TSD and two in Through the Looking Glass because my computer's motherboard failed. I need to catch up ASAP!

If you're still here by the time I'm done catching up, you'll probably get a PM from me.

Great work, Ponky. That's all I have to say.

782387 It's Missionary work, they are technically already letting you travel and experience parts of the world you normally wouldn't and have all your expenses paid for, under the condition you do as you were promised. One is there to serve and help with whatever assistance is given. It may seem unfair, but it's something that goes above selfish wants and needs. They still allow ways to stay in contact with families and letters are always allowed.

I could still see Ponky dishing out a few long letters and having friends and family post their stories of what it's like up there. But, who knows what schedule he'll have. I for one would love to see pictures of his days in Italy and all the cool things he winds-up doing there.

It's only like 2.5 seasons of Ponies before Ponky's eventual return. Let's hope we've all grown a bit and manage to stay together as a community by then, after all, can't let Ponky have all the fun in life!

I wave goodbye. Have fun but not too much.

My the road rise to meet you, and the wind be always at your back! And always remember, home is where the ponies are!

brb, crying

I wish you nothing but happiness and success over the next two years, Ponky. The times that we chatted were always an absolute pleasure, you are an awesome person to talk to and a tremendously creative mind, and I am extremely happy that I was able to get to know you over the past few months.

What you are doing is awesome, and I'm sure that it will be incredibly rewarding for you. And in two years, when you return, we will all be happily waiting to welcome you right back into the fandom. We might even have cake!

783118 It's not selfish to want to keep in contact with friends over the internet and create content yourself. It's just one of the staples of being human. But he agreed to it, so it's his choice. I just think it's really silly.

I almost wish he could send his parents his username + password and secretly send snippets of his stuff through post. And maybe his parents could send a print out of our messages of good will and stuff to him.

If the guys he's helping search his mail, ignore this idea.

TSD will always be one of my most favorite pieces of pony fiction, fanfiction in general, and really fiction in general.:pinkiehappy: I just hope you know that even if *knockonwood* this fandom dissolves or dies down in the intrevening years that all of your fan/friends here will still love your work and really you as a person (because you're just so darn cool). With hope we'll all be here still to welcome you back in our flying cars and riding our hoverboards and with our pants inside out and whatever else Back to the Future II said 2015 will be like.:derpytongue2:

Really I wish you all the best. I'll be praying for you over there. Just have fun and help people. Those are two things you seem already very good at, so it shouldn't be too much trouble.

I haven't finished Looking Glass yet to be honest. I might save that for a rainy day, or an 'I need a smile' day.

I'm sure I'll be saying bye to you again, but you are and always will be my friend. When life get's ya down you know what you gotta do (just keep swimming). I'll quote more movies if ya like.

I've only just barely learned about you, Ponky, but I'll miss you before I even get to meet you.

TSD is very next on my list of things to read, though, and has been for a while now. I'll promise to enjoy it while you're away.

thanks for the ride Ponkey. it was loads of fun and i throughout enjoyed it.
hope you have a good time on your journey and i eagerly await whatever adventure you will have for us when you return.
till then, see you starside.
