    Do not adjust your sets

Hey all, sorry but this isn't Rust.

This is Handyman speaking, for those of you who don't know, I'm that guy who writes that fic with that other guy who does the things. Those of you who aren't laughing at the fact I now have an account with a batpony avatar, you have no soul and your first born child will be ginger.

That is the Question. · 11:02pm Feb 23rd, 2012

It is with a detached amusement that I find myself asking this question-

Why do we like ponies so much?

This is, of course, rhetorical. What's not to like? They're charming, adorable, technicolor balls of fun and sunshine. They always end up on top, with a smile on their face (regardless if Pinkie Pie is involved or not.)

We like that sort of thing, I suppose: The happy-go-lucky sort of character that just seems incorrigible in their endeavors to simply act as them-self .

Maybe that's it, then?

Maybe it's because ponies are always what they seem. They don't have to hide who they are, rather, they embrace it. They really couldn't hide their character even if they wanted to - it's stamped onto their ass, and it's not coming off anytime soon. A pony would never try to be somepony that they aren't. Accepting themselves as well as their nieghbors for who they are, and not only tolerating the differences, but embracing them!

It's just a wonderful, joyous, blur of good cheer and warm, cuddly feelings!

Right?

Wrong.

It's more that that. It's always been. We like ponies because we see ourselves in their hoofsteps. While they may live in a perfect world, they still have their problems, their trials and tribulations, their failures.

I like to think of each individual pony as one of the Greek heroes of legend.

While they have their greatest strength, they also have defining characteristics that prove their fatal flaw, as well. A pony may live in a place that is often associated with heaven, but each one carries a little bit of hell with them. An example...

Applejack! Strong, tough, never gives up! She'll sink her hooves into the ground and not budge an inch when her mind is made up! It is her greatest strength that is also her greatest flaw.

I offer no epiphany for you all, I simply wished to share my thoughts.

It's interesting... How we love ponies so much, even though at times, they are all too human.

We love ponies because we are awesome! first!

You know? I couldn't agree more :pinkiehappy:

Very well-said. I commend your musings.

I feel the urge to snap my fingers like at a poetry slam.

In the words of a stoned one: Deep, man, deep.

That's deep man, and true on sooo many levels.

How does the saying go again?

"I calls it how I sees it."

Ah, that's it.

After spending the past three years of my life with my literature professor, I thought the exact same thing. *claps*

Very Wise
Me Gusta.

i have no idea why i got sucked so deep into this fandom iv tried to quit but just like my attempt to quit eve online i went one week. for all i know im addicted to both to tell the truth i dont care:pinkiecrazy: i could be addicted to far worse things.

I never thought about it that way before, now I can't stop thinking about it that way.
My mind has been altered! :applejackconfused:

I think my brain literally exploded when I finished reading this. Purely amazing. I don't think there's enough room left on the scale for this to be 20% cooler. I can only stare at the monitor right now. :rainbowderp:
