first off welcome back I've been taking a break for almost a year to catch up on fanfiction stories and only recently came back to read some more stories and catch up with those that were updated (the few that did) .
first off I will lump together the short prequel with this review and I got to say holy moly is this a good story, honestly near perfect imo......... in the first arc . in the prequel and the first 13 ish chapters the author sets up who anon is, how he acts, who he's friends with and who he interacts and also as the story goes on shows us how he's got to be friends some of them (that are not the main 6 or supporting cast holy shite) and shows how it lead to him reuniting a family after saving a griffin which lead him to finding his first love in equestria . which also further establishes how anon acts and that hes the standard "assshole with (generally) a heart of gold" when interacting with the griffin family after saving Canadian bacon.
id give the prequel and first 13 chapters (or the first arc) as a 9/10....
butttttt got to say the whiplash i get when it suddenly turns into a drama show with anon and whisk relationship relevance in the story ballooning too much when it should be a c plot at best imo all while check listing tropes in said relationship combined with fucking the equestrian WORLD WAR happening in the background with all the problems that come with it on top of the author doing the trope of friendship is magic character cast meat riding the mc (anon) even worse which is boring as shit id rather see anon interact more exclusively with the ocs like segway,whisk,lucky runnner and co from his job and social life not ponies i already see done in other fanfictions a million different ways but i guess its makes getting popular way easier when you include all the fandom favorites and makes it way easier because now you don't have to develop the fim characters since they already have a established characteristics ,traits, and history and have already gone through their character arcs.
as of chapter 21 id give it 6.5/10 still a good read but its starting to wear on me abit as imo the author is fumbling the bag imo.
