Sometimes committing to the journey is harder than the journey itself. The path of a thousand miles begins with one step, but nobody counts the travel time between home and the start of that path. A minor oversight, I'm sure.

Step 1: Ponies

Step 2: Blog

Step 3: I guess I have a Twitter now, too. Actually kinda fun.

Step 4: ???

I write slow. :( Especially with distractions. Unfortunately, almost everything is a potential distraction. This blog entry is a distraction. Front page PTR data from patch 5.4 is a distraction. My wordpress blog is a distraction. GAH. If only I had a toggle switch for that "hyper focus" I come down with once in while. That would be super neat. Tell you what, I get things done when I'm in that phase.

Good news: Glasses make keeping my eyes on the screen much less stressful on my eyes (as opposed to my nose, right? Hyuk).

I've started on section two of my new piece. Part one isn't done exactly, but I feel like making progress on the meaty parts and filling in some bits later is likely to be my best route right now. It's not coming out until it's completely done anyway, so I guess the order I write it isn't all that important, right?

Oh: I'm (disappointingly) 1 for 3 on my declaration to do 1,000 words a day. I have commitment issues, but I'm trying. A little bit each turn. That's how a drill works. (Seriously, go watch Gurren Lagann right now. Shut up and do it. I don't care if you hate anime. It's a story worth knowing.)

Back to work.

Edit: Gurren Lagann is a distraction.

Nope, no lady chromosomes for me. And here's my old picture, since you mentioned it the other day.

Found the video. Turns out I had seen it before, I just didn't recognize the name. I had the mixed fortune of working in an elementary school computer lab for many years. It was rough sometimes, but I was able to help keep some of those creative avenues open by suggesting less cookie cutter lesson plans and assignments for lab time. They didn't always take, but it was worth a shot.

Somewhere, I like to think, there's an 8th grader who remembers making the awesome Powerpoint Presentations back in 2nd grade.

With that comment you will like Robinson's videos. Summed up he is pointing out how the public education system is set up as a factory to kill creative ideas. I am lucky enough to still have my creativity in tacked, at least in my opinion. Others say I'm an arrogant ass and that my be true as well. :pinkiehappy:

I don't think I've seen Sir Ken Robinson's video. I'll have to hunt that one down. I keep a close eye on their channel but sometimes things slip through.

"Every author has their perfect reader" - I really like that. It kind of takes some of the pressure off trying to please everybody. Do what I do, then find the people who enjoy my work. It's so crazy it just might work.

I'm trying to get back in touch with my creativity before I smother it completely. I've mostly ignored it in favor of the rigid disciplines; math, science and the like. They're all fine and dandy, of course, but nothing good ever comes from dramatic imbalances.

You replied with a link on one of Device Heretic's blog posts and rather than highjack his thread I would reply here.

I like what she says and it reminds me of the Sir Ken Robinson TED talk.

Stephen King says every author has is there perfect reader. I haven't found it but if you like what I've written enjoy it for what it is. Right now I write for myself first because I enjoy it and right now I'm recycling one of my old short story ideas into a plot for a fic on this web site. It's evolved and grown but I'm still doing it for myself not anyone else. However I do smile every time I see the reader numbers grow.

No hurry on my end. Between the planning for that story and the bits floating around my brain for the three others I should have plenty to keep myself occupied.

Ohh. I inspired you to write a story. I thought you meant that specific story.

Anyways, I should be able to read and edit sometime tomorrow or Friday, otherwise after the weekend. I suddenly have shit going on.

You are a very interesting person. Judging by the wit and prose found in your blog alone (which, by the way, gave off the air of a very intelligent person), I can project easily that you'll climb quickly to the top of the fanfic popularity ladder. Therefore, I wish to invite you to a group I have coming soon, that I will be active in both as Emerald Flight and in real life. I'm caking it the 'Revelation Revolution', or the RR. We will fight the ignorant and the stubborn, revealing the truth about everything and eliminating general stupidity from the Earth. Take on the challenge, and help me clean up the world.:pinkiecrazy:

Yeah, bro. If you need an editor, I'm helping split second with his story, but I'm still really free.

Oh I know. It's just me thinking out loud. Stories are coming as soon as this abomination of a semester is over. I have issues ignoring important things when I'm doing something more enjoyable - a touch of the ADHD, if you will.

I probably remember you. I'm following you for a reason, and I'm quite sure we've maybe-possibly exchanged comments on some story or another.

And since when can people comment straight onto the page? This site just gets better and better!
