Stoics follow the logos, that is divine true reason. Marcus Aurelius was much the same, letting not the world tarnish him with expectations of something more than reasonable. It makes sense for him to say such a thing, as it is ridiculous to be surprised when true reason is attained. He also spoke of caring not for what is outside your control, as it has no precedence in your life. Instead you must focus on what is in your control and act accordingly.

Your friend has good taste. I'd love to hear your thoughts if and when you get around to reading it.

I recommend reading if you have not yet.

Well... I've already been recommended this book by one of my closest friends some... months ago, but kept postponing reading it. Now with your remindful recommendation, I guess it's time for me to finally get to reading it. :twilightblush:

How ridiculous and how strange to be surprised at anything which happens in life.

Upon this quote from Marcus Aurelius is that which I have stumbled merely yesterday while reading this story (good stuff, btw).

If you'd like, perhaps after finishing reading Meditations, I could message you to share my experience and eventual thoughts upon it. :raritystarry:

The Meditations is one of my favorite works of philosophical writing I have read. I look to it for guidance when the days grow weary and long. I recommend reading if you have not yet.

Hope you're doing okies, friend. 😇

Nice quote you got there in your bio. :moustache:
