I'm not really sure what to say, so... quoting Wanderer D's signal boost:
In short: a needed surgery that is expected to probably go fine, but best case scenario still have a painful recovery. They're looking for some help getting a comforting Starlight Glimmer plushie, and could likely do with some general encouragement.
(I got to this a bit late, late enough, it looks like, that when I in the process of composing this blog post checked for additional details, I discovered that the plushie had already been fully funded. :))
...Well.
GroaningGreyAgony's mother has passed
...I don't appear to have had the best timing with that signal boost.
They're still making the trip down, though. ...Less of a hurry, now. But still things to take care of.

Things are bad at the moment; we are in the red and don't yet have solid prospects for getting out. The temporary fix I mentioned is looking shakier than I thought and we're having to seek cheaper housing.
Without meaning to be grim, anything you can do would be wonderful
The full blog post is rather long, which seemed to me like it might put some people off and/or be too much for the time they had available, so I picked out a couple of paragraphs that I thought summarized the financial need well enough:
