Rainbow Blitz has everything a young stallion looking to make their mark on the world could want; a renowned and well-off family, connections and the drive to push himself beyond everypony else.

But he still feels like he's missing out on something. Something's he's dreamt of since he was a foal.

More than anything, Rainbow Blitz wants to be part of a joust. There's one small problem though, he's a Pegasus and only Earth ponies are allowed to compete. Despite this seemingly insurmountable restriction, he remains hopeful that one day he’ll compete in front of the crowds at one of Equestria's grand tournaments. Maybe if he’s lucky he’ll find himself at the birthplace of jousting; the fields of Prance.

Maybe a little luck is all he needs.

If you asked Big Macintosh what he liked about a pony there would be very little about Vinyl Scratch that would fit the bill. That's probably why he doesn't really like her. You might even say he detested her.

Then again, he hardly knows her.
Nothing that a bit of forced confinement can't fix.

Written for the Straight Shipping group 'A disagreement of sorts' competition. Yes, I couldn't think of a better name, sue me. Also written on a very random prompt from a friend who sarcastically said 'I ship it' when he saw a picture of Big Mac and Vinyl somewhere vaguely near each other.

Soarin bit his lip in annoyance. "That's blackmail."
Surprise smiled innocently. "Oh is it? I didn't realise!"

An opening of an art exhibition featuring the Wonderbolts premieres in Canterlot, drawing crowds of enthusiastic upper-crust ponies along with two much less enthusiastic Wonderbolts; Soarin and Surprise. Readying themselves in for a long and boring night of photos, autographs and hanger-oners, the unexpected arrival of a guest opens a door to Soarin's past; a door Surprise is all too happy to pry open a little further...

“Dashie, you can talk to me about anything. Problem at the academy? What is it?”
She looked him squarely in the eyes. “Soarin, I’m really not sure if this is normal… and I don’t want to sound stupid… But…”

Just because you're friends doesn't mean everything works out all fine and dandy. What happens when a unforeseen hiccup puts a new strain on Soarin and Rainbow Dash's relationship? An old acquaintance with only the eyes for a certain blue flier enters town? An early and unexpected meeting with a certain parental figure?
