Indulgence

T

For Equestria’s sibling sovereigns afternoon tea was long ago a treasured treat, a private weekly ritual in which they could both let their hair down and catch up. With Luna’s banishment however this of course came to an end. Even long after her return though this remained so, with every malevolent force on Equis (as well as quite a few benevolent ones too unintentionally) seeming to conspire against them sharing in cake and conversation. Finally though, following the chaos of Cadence and Shining’s wedding, they’ve managed to steal some time for themselves, and both are determined to make the most of it. For the Princess of the Night in particular there’s something of her sister that she’s been desperate to ask.

At a basic level future implies change, sometimes big, sometimes small, and quite often imbued with the concept of progress. Therein is what makes the future a tantalising place, somewhere to be dived into and discovered. With this however it is important not to simply discard the past or to look upon it with a darkened eye, rather what gave it its sweetness should be remembered and maintained. In a possible future Equestria, altered in many ways by war, tank combat is a national sport and martial art form, but friendship nonetheless remains magical.

(Trashy crossover concept inspired by the awesomeness which is Girls und Panzer and finally watching Season Five to its finale quite a while ago)

Although they may seem as permanent as either the Sun or Moon, any single story can take on a great myriad of forms, each as infinitely changeable as the next. They start with as many guises as there are perspectives on events, gaining ever more facets and different flourishes with each retelling. This is most true of the grandest, those tales which have passed into myth and legend, stories of betrayal, banishment, regret, and the way back.

Great thanks to Haphazard for pre-reading.

This story is a sequel to À partir de Bourgeons à Fleurs

Everything happens for some kind of reason: action begets reaction, one link in the infinite unseen chain pulls another along and so on, and stuff therefore happens. In this however there is only mechanism, lacking either the solid grounding of purpose or the soaring motivation which follows from it. Moreover, although the cogs of this machinery are on display we are in few ways their operators, making all events accidents, happy or otherwise. Through this deep sea of chances to find something more is a great blessing, one that must be held onto tightly, guarded fiercely, and treasured fondly.

(Pre-emptively: this is not truly a sequel, nor is it meant as such, rather it’s more a really short, waiting room writing, diptych scene thing)

Great thanks to Haphazard for pre-reading.

Also thank you to anyone who reads my stuff.

Notes:
• Title: Accidents (spelling same in French/English) (likewise for other chapters)

Tartarus: for innumerable millennia Equestria’s premier maximum security penal institution, a place of incarceration and torment for the worst of the worst, impregnable and inescapable. Or rather mostly inescapable. Following the high profile escape of Tirek it has been decided that there is a desperate need to reform the prison, with a new focus on rehabilitation as opposed to simply containing its inmates, and who better for this unenviable task than the Princess of the Night.

(Random little one-off thing)

This story is a sequel to Filetages Fatidique et Fleurs de Soie

Life goes on in Manehattan, as a great city generally uncomprehending of the minutia in its own existence. In its vastness therefore the minor opening of a new boutique may easily pass unnoticed. For its two creators however, having found each other by chance, the event potentially marks a new beginning, fresh possibility and the tip of the iceberg of what together they might achieve.

Familial bonds are the strongest we carry with us, ever following to bring light to any darkened path we might walk or to be our safety lines in our furthest travels. They create us, mould us, in many ways guide us, and fundamentally they make us whole.

This is a quartet of mixed vaguely cuddly stuff loosely connected through the themes of motherhood and family. (Minor warning: A light in the darkest places contains a small amount of violence but I don’t reckon it warrants the gore tag).

Dedicated to the toughest b*tch on the planet.

Dreams are the truest mirrors to our inner selves, our hopes, our dreams, but our demons also dwell there, succoured by our fears and faults. A dream may therefore be both balm and cage, in reflection excising us of our ills or else trapping us with them in forced proximity. However, just as we are not always alone in our dreams, so too sometimes are the monsters which would make us prey within them far more than incorporeal.

Chapters (11)

Cities are faceless places where anypony can go to loose themselves or else be lost, either by choice or against their volition. The sweeping metropolis of Manehattan is no exception to this rule, being well filled with the hidden and the hiding, pulled there by its promise. For two such as these however, living in amongst the ivory spires, a chance encounter will potentially open up a brighter world.

Chapters (11)
T

Ortus:
‘My coming would have saved you, set your people free in ways they cannot see. War would have tested them: broken the weak with its violence, yet allowing the strong to arise.’
-Legate Lanius, 2281

To live is to be a slave we only choose the nature of our bindings. In a meaningless world, corrupting and devoid of all hope, the choice is clear.

(Originally meant to be a one-off, this is kind of a very short origin story, but lays the ideology on quite thick. Warning: gore tag added as this contains some light goriness and alludes to willing self-mutilation.)

Vita:
‘Home isn’t where you’re born into this world.’
-Speculator Ulysses, 2281

The story of a couple held apart by the necessities of societal rank and social norms stealing a few precious moments to celebrate their one year anniversario.

Occasus:
‘I survived because the fire inside burned brighter than the fire around me. I fell down into that dark chasm, but the flame burned on and on.’
-Legate Joshua Graham (disgraced), 2281

The inevitable conclusion for those who live by the sword and have given up all hope for their world’s redemption.

After finally reading Fallout Equestria by Kkat and loving it I gradually threw these together for no apparent reason (each one written randomly when majorly stressed out). In general these are ponified Caesar’s Legion in the Equestrian Wasteland, based around my main pro-Legion playthrough of Fallout New Vegas, discussions (arguments) with mates about this decision and a stupid picture I drew of a main OC and Legate Lanius as a ponified couple (above), one of the many weird results of these conversations (arguments). (Triptych story consists of Ortus, Vita and Occasus, meanwhile the Memoriam are more like individual scenes)

Massive thanks to Haphazard for pre-reading whatever this is meant to be and getting me over my aversion to crossovers.

Also thank you to anyone who reads my stuff.

Notes:
• Title: Conqueror of My Heart (Latin)
• I have not yet had the chance to check out stories in which others have already inserted the Legion into the Fallout Equestria universe. This is not meant as a serious attempt to insert the faction; rather this is a really basic ponification based on conversations.
• Sketch used as cover art used base by XxPartyingxX (http://xxpartyingxx.deviantart.com/)
• I’m marking this as complete for now, but may write more in the future depending on how I feel.
