In two days I get to say words that I so love saying. I get to ask you to join me on a journey.
On Saturday the 26th of August, the prologue and the first chapter of this mammoth of a fic will go up. I'll repeat all the details on the post I make on Sat, and I've said some of this before: Expect one chapter every Tuesday, one chapter every Saturday. Expect chapters to average 10k words, but vary a fair bit.
Not called "2017 July Update" because the formal and predictable nature of those titles made me itchy.
Hello, dear reader-person! This is probably the final update before I throw a very, very, very long story at you. I don't have terribly much to say except to say "get ready", but I'm very good at using many words to say very few words. Right now, I'm sitting on hundreds of thousands of words and they're getting hot.
I'm getting a little frightened by some of the prices people are listing for pony plushies. Listen here y'all: Paying what, three, four, five hundred USD for a pony plushie is—
It's still May, right? Right. Good. I'm safe.
"Work on the story progresses". That's the canned phrase, and it holds true. If anyone thinks I'm sitting on my hooves doing nothing, well, I'm not. I don't want to go into details on exactly how much time and effort I'm sinking into this story, but the long and short of it is "a lot".
This'll be one for the ages: Have a brief update, with minimal words, maximum info.
* Story is going to be quite a bit longer than 300k. So that's a thing.
* While I have no ETA etc., the first draft is nearing completion, and I am perhaps four fifths done with it in terms of pure writing. Editing and feedback will be an extensive process, however.
Twilight, as was fast becoming a habit, lay wide awake for a little longer. She stared up past the rafters to the ceiling of the mill, thinking about nothing at all until Luna approached Twilight and leaned close. Her horn was softly glowing, the princess intending to shut the purple unicorn out from her dream.
Where do these months go?
Because other methods fail, I've started measuring time in uni assignments. The next hand-in is in ... three? Four? Five weeks time? The term papers are soon after that. Probably weeks, maybe months. I should really check, but it gives me two elastic, inexact units of time to work with. Better than months.
On today's agenda, two much-delayed links to others' works, and one status update. Let's get the words-on-words out of the way first.

I'm still writing hard. I have passed the size of a regular ol' book, and if I had to guess, I'm somewhere between halfway and two thirds along. Guessing never works out, though, because some segments expand, some contract, and some ideas are dropped. I also feel compelled to mention that length and quality are, as always, unrelated, but hey, it's an update.
