Burst Stream never knew his father. Ever since he was five, his dad disappeared one night and was presumed dead. Now he's back, and he has a surprise for his son. A step-brother. One who seems to hate Burst's guts and everyone he holds dear.
For most of his life, Burst had no father to raise him. And despite that, he grew up relatively happy. For all he knew his father was dead. That is, until he came home one fateful afternoon.

"WHOA!", Venus Bloomer had just felt the huge spike of duel energy that came from the CHS Grand Tournament! He had green and yellow hair and brown skin. His usual outfit was blue jeans and a t-shirt with a flower on it. "Someone must have just had one heck of a duel! Any place with duelists like that could be a sweet place to hang! What do you think Black Rose?" Black Rose Dragon materialized.
"I think you're right.", She said with a serene voice. "And it looks like there's plenty of legendary dragons there too."
"It's settled then! We enroll on Monday!" Meanwhile, another duelist had sensed the enormous surge of duel energy. A boy with purple hair, grey skin and wearing dark jeans and a t-shirt with a wolf in the middle of it.
"You feel that Dragoon?", Night Fang asked. Destiny End Dragoon materialized.
"I did. I also sense fellow heroes there. It'll be good to catch up with them.
"Then I guess we're headed there.", Night Fang said as he wagged his wolf tail and his ears perked up. "I just hope no one finds out my secret."
"Still thinking girls would think you're from a teen romance novel?", Dragoon teased.
"You kidding? The last girl I tried dating wanted me to walk around shirtless at all times!" At the same time, another duelist had sensed Burst's duel energy. But his intenions were far less noble.
'So there is another who wields the Blue Eyes. Soon I shall show him the true power of Blue Eyes!', the figure chuckled darkly and the shadow of a dragon flashed as lightning cracked the sky! 'And I have father to thank for giving me this chance...'
Adagio was in a pretty good mood for once. Especially since she had big plans for today. "I've decided Sonata. I'm going to ask out Burst Stream!"
"Uhhh, 'Dagi? He's already taken by two girlfriends. You know that right?"
"Which is why I'm going to duel him for his hand!", Adagio said with a confident smile.
"Good luck. He's completely undefeated. I'd like to see you last two turns against him.", Aria said flatly. Adagio turned her attention to the shrine she had made of him after she first saw him. "Why do you even like him so much?"
"He's cute and he has a good singing voice. So if I can get him to like me, I can get my beautiful voice back. It worked for Sonata."
"Yeah, but Ace actually loves me. And last I checked Burst isn't interested in you!", Sonata said. Adagio paid their advice no mind and went off to find Burst."This is going to backfire on her isn't it?"
"Totally.", Aria said with a smirk. "And we get a front-row seat."
When lunch period hit, she challenged Burst. "If I beat you, you have to go out with me."
"And if I beat you, you have to stop trying to seek a relationship with me.", Burst said with an annoyed look on his face. 'This is one of the few drawbacks to becoming famous.'

"Ladies first! I summon Opera the Melodious Diva in attack mode and end my turn. Your move.", Adagio said with a wink.
"I draw. Nice! I reveal one Blue Eyes White Dragon in my hand to special summon Blue Eyes Alternative! Now I'll play Trade-In to discard a level eight monster from my hand! Now I normal summon Keeper of the Shrine and banish him to special summon Red Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon! Then I'll use his effect to revive the Blue Eyes White Dragon I sent to the graveyard! Now I use Alternative's effect to destroy your monster! Blue Eyes and REDMD, attack her directly!" Adagio braced herself as she was hit with the full force of the dragons' attack! "I end my turn."

"Looks like I can't hold back anymore. I draw! I play 1st Movement Solo! This lets me special summon a level four or lower "Melodious" monster from my hand or deck! I choose Serenade the Melodious Diva! Now I'll tribute her to summon Mozarta the Melodious Maestra! Now I discard a card to activate Lightning Vortex! This wipes out your whole field! Attack him directly!" Burst didn't even flinch as he took damage. "I end my turn."

"Time to end this. I play Harmony Absolute and send Blue Eyes White Dragon from my deck to the graveyard to summon Blue Eyes Absolute Dragon! Attack her monster! Absolute Neutron Blast!" Adagio cringed as the last of her life points were depleted. "Look Adagio. You seem nice, but I'm happily involved with Celestia and Moon. Please move on from this obsession. For your sake AND mine."
"Fine.", Adagio said with a defeated sigh.
"Told you that you wouldn't last two turns.", Aria said with a smirk.
"Shut up." Adagio was back at her locker coping with how foolish she had acted. Venus Bloomer seemed to notice her, and decided to see if there was anything he could do to cheer her up.
"Something got you down?", he asked with a kind smile.
"Just getting over a stupid crush."
"I'm sure you look a lot prettier when you're smiling." Adagio chuckled at hearing this.
"Thanks. But I'm not exactly in the best of moods." Bloom used his powers to grow a flower instantly, and he handed it to Adagio.
"Here. A little something to help you smile again." Adagio blushed lightly as she took the flower. "Name's Venus Bloom. What's yours?"
"Adagio.", she said with a small smile. "Thanks for the flower."Meanwhile, Aria was in a pretty good mood of her own.
"Can't say I didn't warn her." Aria was so caught up in her good mood she didn't notice someone was directly in her path and the two bumped into each other. "Ow! Watch it!", she snapped as she caught sight of who had bumped into her. Night Fang was recovering himself and was in awe of her appearance.
"Ack! Sorry! Please don't be mad!", Fang said as he gave her puppy dog eyes. Aria's frustration faded almost instantly.
"N-no. It was my fault. I should've payed attention. What's your name?"
"Night Fang!", Fang answered cheerfully. He was so happy he hadn't even noticed his ears had perked up.
"So are you doing cosplay or soemthing? Those ears on you look kinda cool." Fang panicked and decided to go along with her reasoning.
"Uh, yeah! Pretty neat huh?" Aria smiled as she scratched one of his ears.
"I'm Aria. Aria Blaze. See you around Night.", she said with a smirk as she left. 'He's kinda cute.', she thought to herself. Adagio and Aria rejoined Sonata who was sitting with Ace, and she and Ace picked up on the blissful looks on their faces.
"So I take it you both met someone special?", Sonata teased. Adagio and Aria blushed!
"D-don't be ridiculous!", Adagio huffed.
"As if I need a guy!", Aria said while flustered. Ace and Sonata just smiled.
"Don't worry you two! We'll be your matchmakers for as long as you need to get those special somebodies!", Sonata beamed. Adagio and Aria groaned. This was going to be a long week.
"Well that was a fun distraction from the daily grind.", Burst said with a small smile. The rest of the day dragged on, but things looked up when Celestia and Moon met up with him at the school's entrance. "I take it you two would like to head for my house?"
"Quit reading our minds.", Moon quipped. As the three of them headed for Burst's house, Celestia brought up a burning question.
"Burst? I've noticed something. It was when you enrolled. You don't seem to have any father. Did...something happen?" For the first time, Burst's face actually looked sad.
"When I was five, my dad disappeared from my life. He didn't walk out, or cheat on my mom, he just up and disappeared on trip for work. The police presumed him dead, but despite that I still grew up pretty happy. This is the first time I've ever told anyone.", Burst said with a sad smile. Celestia and Moon held him tight.
"It must have been hard.", Celestia said. "How did you get past the fact you might never see him again?"
"Nothing I could say or do would bring him back, and I realized that he'd want me to be happy. And I know I've got good friends, and even better girlfriends to stand by me.", Burst said with a loving smile.
"You know Burst, if you showed me a picture of him I could give all the time you never had with him in your dreams.", Moon offered.
"I appreciate that Moon, but I've moved on. It's better this way." The three of them arrived at Burst's house, but Burst noticed that a car was parked in front of his home. An expensive looking one by the looks of it. "I don't think Pegasus planned another surprise visit...", Burst said as he went to the door. His mom opened it, but she had tears in her eyes and a smile on her face. "Mom? What happened?!"
"It's..see for yourself..", she said barely containing her tears while she was positively glowing. Burst entered his home, and found two people waiting for him. One was a boy about his age with short hair styled in a spiky look. And the other was an older man. One who looked like...
"Burst...", the man said as he went up to get a better look at Burst."How long was I gone? You're all grown up..." Burst's heart was pounding. Before him stood a man he hadn't seen in thirteen years. One he had thought long since passed.
"D-dad?", Burst said as his voice cracked. "Is...is it you?" Burst pulled his dad into a hug. "I thought you were dead! Where were you?"
"Well it started on that night I vanished from your life. I was on a trip for work and our boat sank. Then a woman found me, and took me in. She got me up on my feet again, and I found a job at Kaiba Corp.'s divison here in Canterlot. Eventually I married the woman who helped me, and I also became the father of her son. Burst, meet your step-brother. Blitz Surge." The boy stood up. He had the same eyes and hair color as Burst, but his skin was a very dark grey and his hair was styled in a look that was identical to Vergil's from Devil May Cry.
"Hey bro!", Burst greeted. However, he was met with a cold stare from Blitz and a nearly emotionless response.
"Likewise."
"Anyway Burst, Mom tells me you've become quite the duelist! You're the current and reigning champion if I've heard right!", Burst's dad said with a proud smile.
"It's all true!", Burst beamed. "I've won Duelist Kingdom and Battle City! But I don't plan on becoming king of games. That honor belongs solely to Yugi Moto."
"Hmph. How foolish.", Blitz said. He then turned his gaze to Moon. "Pleased to make your acquaintance.", he said as he gave Moon a longing gaze.
"Why are you looking at me like that?", Moon asked.
"I'm attracted to power. And I can sense much coming from you. My step-brother wouldn't mind if I borrowed his friend for a bit would he? I'd love to get to know you better."
"He would.", Moon said sternly. "Me and Celestia here are his girlfriends. And while your offer is flattering, I must decline. I'm happy with Burst."
"What could a whelp like him give you that I can't?"
"That's enough Blitz.", Burst's father said. "We're not even here for an hour and you've decided to insult my son, your step-brother. I don't expect you to like him, but I do want you to respect him."
"A commoner such as him and the old maid that's his mother? They're beneath me.", Blitz said arrogantly. "And as for you 'brother', I've heard you use a Blue Eyes deck?"
"That's right. He's my favorite monster, and one of my most trusted friends." Blitz let out a chuckle. "What's so funny?"
"The fact you view your monsters as your friends. All they are is tools for power. That's all I see my Blue Eyes as. How could someone so soft like you be a champion?"
"Maybe his kindness is his strength.", Celestia said defensively. "It doesn't hurt to treat your monsters as friends. It's because of his bond with Blue Eyes that Burst has saved the world."
"Really?", Burst's father asked. "My son the hero. Who would've thought. I take it you've saved the world at the tournaments you've won?"
"Yup. The first one I had to destroy the villain, but at the second one I was able to save the villain and give him a fresh start."
"You should have left him to his fate.", Blitz said coldly.
"That's enough Blitz!", Burst's father scolded. "You've been disrespectful for all the time we've been here! I'm so sorry all of you. You've been insulted for long enough. We'll take our leave."
"No dad. Not yet.", Burst said. "I wanna see how good my step-bro here is at dueling. Maybe he just needs to be humbled and he'll mellow out."
"Duel an amateur like you? Fine. I'll prove you aren't the champion with my superior mastery of Blue Eyes!" The two went outside and activated their duel disks.
Burst: 8000 Blitz: 8000
"You're the guest, so you get to go first.", Burst said firmly.
"A foolish mistake.", Blitz said with a smirk. "I play Kaiser Sea Horse in attack mode, then I activate Swords of Revealing Light! I end my turn."
"I draw! I reveal one Blue Eyes in my hand to special summon Blue Eyes Alternative! Then I play Twin Twisters! By discarding one card, I can destroy up to two spell and trap cards on the field! And I choose your Swords of Revealing Light! Now I play Return of the Dragon Lords to revive the Blue Eyes I sent to the graveyard! Now I'll attack your monster with Alternative and attack you directly with Blue Eyes! White Lightning!" Blitz was shocked when his defense crumbled and he felt the force of Burst's attacks! "Then I'll set a card and end my turn."

"How could scum like you deal me so much damage?!", Blitz growled.
"Heh. For that cool demeanor you had, you're actually quite the hot-head aren't you?", Burst said jokingly. "Come on dude! It's only a game!"
"Fool.", Blitz said coldly. "I play Chaos Form! I tribute Blue Eyes White Dragon from my hand to ritual summon Blue Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon! Destroy Alternative! Chaos Burst!" Burst braced himself as Blue Eyes Alternative was destroyed! "I'll end my turn by setting a card face-down. There's not a monster in your deck that could best Chaos MAX.", Blitz said with an arrogant sneer.

"The duel's not over until the last card's drawn! I draw! I play Cards of Consonance to discard White Stone of Ancients and draw two cards! just what I need! I play Harmony Absolute! I tribute the Blue Eyes on my field to bring out Blue Eyes Absolute Dragon!"
"WHAT? What is this?!"
"You'll see!" A humanoid looking Blue Eyes descended from the heavens clad in platinum armor with gems on the armor of his wings and helmet. "Meet Blue Eyes Absolute! Once he's on the field he gains 300 attack for each monster in my graveyard! There's three in my grave, so he gain 900 attack points bringing him to 5900! Attack Chaos MAX! Absolute Neutron Blast!"
"I activate Magic Cylinder! Now you'll take his attack points as damage!"
"I don't think so!" Blue Eyes Absolute knocked Magic Cylinder out of the way like a toy!
"What?! How is this possible?!"
"Blue Eyes Absolute is immune to all card effects!" Blitz braced himself as Chaos MAX was destroyed and he took damage! "I end my turn."
Burst: 7000 Blitz: 1600
"Impossible! No one has ever pushed me this far back!"
"First time for everything.", Burst said with a kind smile. "Just try having fun!"
"Spare me your prattle! I summon a monster in defense mode and end my turn! Your monster may be immune to all card effects, but it can't breach defenses!"
"I wouldn't be too sure. Blue Eyes Absolute inflicts piercing damage if he destroys a defense mode monster! Let's end this Blue Eyes!"
"NOOOO!", Blitz screamed as his life points dropped to zero. Blitz scowled as he got into the car.
"You were kind to him even when he was vicious to you.", Burst's father said with a smile. "That alone makes you a true champion. I'll see you again soon Burst."
"Bye Dad. It was nice having you back in my life.", Burst said with a smile as he hugged his father goodbye. Blitz scowled as he watched the exchange. And as they left, Blitz's mind was stirring with dark thoughts.
'So you're the one who had that powerful Blue Eyes aura 'brother'? I refuse to believe that you're that strong! I will have my revenge for the humiliation you caused me! Mark my words, you will fall at my hands!'
"Sonata, I don't know why I'm putting up with this.", Adagio groaned.
"Easy. You saw a guy you might like, and Ace and I are going to help you get him!", Sonata beamed. "So what's his name?"
"Venus Bloomer. He seems sweet, and he even cheered me up a bit after I got my rear handed to me by Burst."
"Good! Good! So is there anything else you got on him?"
"Well I caught a glimpse of a deck box on his belt. So I guess he's a duelist. Why?"
"I think we've got a winning first date idea.", Ace said with a smile. "You're gonna duel him for your first date!"
"It's not a date! I'm just trying to get to know him better.", Adagio said defensively.
"Suuuure.", Sonata said with a smile. "So Aria? Who's the guy you bumped into?"
"His name's Night Fang. He's alright I guess. He gave me the puppy dog eyes when I bumped into him, and I think he's into cosplay or something cause he was wearing what looked like wolf ears. And I'm not interested in him as a boyfriend.", Aria said flatly. "I think he's a duelist too because I saw a deck box on his belt."
"Perfect!", Sonata said as she wrote down the last of the notes on their prospective boyfriends. "The best time to ask them out would be this Friday! Have fun lovebirds!"
"WE'RE NOT IN LOVE!", Adagio and Aria shouted!
"You're in denial!", Sonata chirped as she and Ace walked off. Adagio and Aria went to their lockers when they ran into Venus Bloomer and Night Fang.
"Hi there Adagio! Didn't expect to see you so soon.", Venus greeted.
"Oh! Venus! Nice to see you too!", Adagio blushed lightly upon seeing him. "Hey...I was wondering...are you free this Friday? I've got nothing planned and, I thought we could get to know each other better."
"Sounds nice. I've got nothing planned." Venus then kissed her on the cheek! "See you then!" Adagio's face was flushed red! Aria on the other hand was about more laid back with Night Fang.
"Hey Night? You free this Friday? I don't have a lot to do, and just going home sounds pretty lame."
"I'm completely free. Hope I can help you have a good time! Trust me, you won't be disappointed!", Night Fang said with a smile. Aria gave a small smile back and scratched his ear again.
"You must really like wearing those ears."
"You could say that.", Night Fang said as he pulled her into a quick hug. "Gotta go!" Aria was blushing and she clutched her chest.
"Adagio? Are you getting the same type of feeling?"
"Uh-huh...I think it couldn't hurt to see where things go with these two.", Adagio said with a small smile. "But it's not like we're going to wind up falling for them!"
"N-no! Of course not! Happily single!", Aria said with a nervous smile. The two continued to deny the simple fact Sonata had brought up, and went about the rest of the school day.
"Hey guys!", Burst greeted his friends. "You'll never guess what happened yesterday!"
"Don't keep us in suspense darling!", Rarity encouraged. "Tell us everything!" Burst told them about how his dad had disappeared one night when he was little, and how he had showed up yesterday. "How simply heartwarming!", Rarity said as she blew into a tissue.
"This is great man! I'm happy for you!", Inferno cheered.
"Thanks everyone. But I wish he was the only one who came. He brought my step-brother with him. His name's Blitz Surge."
"What's he like?", Sunset asked.
"Imagine the complete opposite of Burst.", Moon said sternly. "He was pretty rude to Burst and his mom, he tried to make a pass at me, and he was also incredibly arrogant. I've half a mind to make him suffer through the worst possible nightmare I can think of! Fortunately Burst put him in his place after he beat him in a duel."
"Sounds like a real varmint.", Applejack said.
"I don't know why but he seems to hate my guts for some reason. What'd I ever do to him? Well, besides beat him in a duel. The minute he was close to losing he lost his temper!"
"He sounds scary.", Fluttershy said as she hid behind her hair.
"I oughta slug that creep the second I see him!", Rainbow growled.
"I must agree with Rainbow Dash. Such a brute has no business being related to you. Blood or otherwise.", Rarity added.
"He sounds even worse than when Dark Ice was controlled by Dark Mist. Namely because this guy was acting of his own will.", Ace said. "Have you heard him give a speech about getting more power yet? That's always a sign he might be evil."
"Ace, I knew the second I sensed his energy. He's bad news, and it looks like he has a duel partner that reflects that perfectly. And it isn't the Blue Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon he has. He's got something far darker lurking inside him. It was faint, but I could feel it all the same."
"So what's this jerk look like anyway?", Shadow asked.
"Well he's got white hair like me, but his skin is dark grey and he's got the same eye color as me. Why?"
"Because I think he's headed this way.", Starlight said as she pointed to Blitz as he was walking towards them.
"So. These are the low-lives you associate with?", Blitz asked with an emotionless look on his face.
"You know, people might be willing to talk to you more if you weren't so condescending.", Burst said with a frown. "Why are you so much of a grump?" Almost out of nowhere, Pinkie showed up.
"HI! You must be Blitz! Do you like parties because I was planning on.."
"Shut up.", Blitz said coldly. The whole hallway was silent! Nobody had ever been that mean, especially to a nice girl like Pinkie! She started to tear up the moment he said that.
"Alright! That's it! AJ! We're taking this jerk down!", Rainbow charged at him, but Blitz dodged with almost no effort.
"Foolish girl.", he said as Rainbow fell form the momentum of her charge! "You're not worth fighting.", Blitz said with a sneer. His bad attitude was enough to send Fluttershy over the edge!
"That's enough! Just what gives you the right to treat everyone so horribly?! You...", Fluttershy cut off her sentence when Blitz shot her a death glare.
"Go on. Finish. Just know what awaits you should you continue with your pretty little speech.", Blitz said with a vicious smile as he brushed her face with his hand. Fluttershy was terrified! Fortunately, she didn't have to wait long for someone to come to her aid. Burst began advancing toward Blitz, and readied his fist. Pinkie then put on a song that fit the situation.
Burst punched Blitz so hard he was knocked to the floor. "What's your problem? You've talked down to me, my mom, and my friends!" Blitz just snarled and charged at Burst! But Burst dodged him quickly! "So you show your true colors."
"Shut up!", Blitz snarled as he made another swing at Burst! "I hate that stupid smile of yours! The strength you have disgusts me! You're no champion unless you're alone!"
"I'm sorry you think that. It's lonely at the top Blitz. And I am a champion because I have people to fight for and care about! You're just mad because you feel alone! Calm down, and we can work this out! I don't want to hurt you."
"Tough....I DO!"
"I'm sorry it came to this.", Burst then stood still as Blitz charged at him. He then sent him reeling with one punch! "It's over." Blitz was snarling at Burst as he walked away. He was so enraged that he hadn't even noticed that everyone in the hallway had recorded him! "You can't hide your true self now.", Burst said sternly as he gave him a look of pity.
'Soon. Soon I will destroy you!', Blitz thought with a scowl on his face.
The rest of the week was pretty quiet, and Friday had arrived before anyone had even bothered to check the date. And since it was the day for their dates, Adagio and Aria were panicking on the inside.
'Have to look good! Can't so anything stupid! Don't want to make a fool of myself in front of him!', Adagio mentally panicked.
'Please don't let Night think I'm antisocial! I'd really hate to see him break out the puppy eyes again!', Aria mentally pleaded. Soon enough, their dates arrived at their house.
"Ready Adagio?", Venus Bloomer asked with a smile.
"As ready as I'm going to be.", Adagio said with a nervous smile.
"Hey Aria! Ready for a good time?", Fang said with a grin.
"Sure. I'm down for whatever.", Aria said with an actual smile. The two former sirens left for their dates, and Ace and Sonata looked on with proud smiles.
"I hope they find happiness with those two.", Ace said.
"They grow up so fast.", Sonata said as she blew her nose. The first stop on their date was the duel park.
"Hope you're not expecting an easy duel.", Adagio said with a smirk.
"I never do. Time to show you how sharp the thorns of my plant deck are!", Bloomer said.

"Ladies first.", Bloomer said.
"Why thank you.", Adagio said. "I set a card and summon Opera the Melodious Diva! Now I can special summon Canon the Melodious Diva since I control a "Melodious" monster! And now I can also special summon Sonata the Melodious Diva! Once she's on the field all fairy-type monsters on my field gain 500 attack and defense points! I end my turn."
"I draw! I summon a monster in defense mode and set two cards face-down! I end my turn."
"My move then! I draw! Sonata will attack your face-down monster while Opera and Canon attack you directly!" Bloomer shielded himself as his monster was destroyed and he took a hit right to his life points! "That's all for now."

"Not bad! Now it's my turn! I draw! I summon Twilight Rose Knight! Now that he's on the field I can special summon a level four or lower plant type monster from my hand! Now I'll tune my knight with the monster I special summoned to bring out Black Rose Dragon!" In a flurry of petals, Black Rose Dragon appeared on the field!
"She's beautiful...", Adagio said in awe.
"Maybe. But you're the one who captivates Venus Bloomer.", Black Rose replied.
"And she's pretty powerful too! Once she's synchro summoned I can destroy all cards on the field!" Adagio braced herself as a storm of petals wiped out her whole field! "Now I activate Thorn of Malice and equip it to Black Rose! This boosts her attack by 600 points! Attack her directly! Black Rose Flame!" Adagio winced as she took damage from Black Rose's breath! "I set a card and end my turn."
Adagio: 5000 Venus Bloomer: 3500
"Not bad. I draw! Nice! I play Polymerization to fuse a Melodius Maestra and a Melodious Diva in my hand to fusion summon Bloom Diva the Melodious Choir! Now I'll attack Black Rose Dragon! Now for Bloom Diva's special ability! She can't be destroyed by battle or card effects and I take no battle damage from attacks involving her! And when she battles a special summoned monster, I can inflict damage in the difference of their original attack points to you as damage! And if I do, I can destroy that monster!" "I'll have Bloom Diva attack to deal you 1400 points of damage! And since Black Rose was special summoned, she's destroyed. I end my turn."

"Well there's not much I can do. I end my turn.", Bloomer said with a defeated smile. "Have at me."
"You accept defeat with grace.", Adagio said with a smile. "I like that in a guy. Attack him directly for game!" The two of them then watched Aria and Night Fang duel.

"You can have the first move. I'm not the type to nag about ladies first.", Aria said.
"Thanks! I summon a monster in defense mode and set a card to end my turn! Your move!"
"I draw! I summon Command Knight to attack your monster!" Command Knight charged at Night's monster, but was pushed back by its high defense! The resulting bounce made a dent in Aria's life points! "Pretty sturdy monster you've got there. I end my turn."
Aria: 6500 Night Fang: 8000
"My move! I play Destiny Draw to discard a Destiny Hero and draw two cards! Now I summon Destiny Hero Doomlord! Next I'll activate the field spell Dark City! Now I play Over Destiny to special summon Destiny Hero Dasher! I'll have Doomlord attack your monster, and since his attack is lower he gains 1000 attack during damage calculation! Now Dasher attacks you directly!" Aria winced as she took damage from her monster being destroyed and from the direct attack. "I end my turn."

"I set a monster in defense mode and end my turn."
"I draw! Nice! I tribute my three monsters to special summon Destiny Hero Plasma from my hand! Now I'll activate his effect! I equip one monster you control and add half of its attack points to Plasma's! Your monster had 2000 attack, so plasma gains 1000! Attack her directly!" Aria braced herself as she felt the impact of Plasma's attack! "I end my turn."
Aria: 1100 Night Fang: 8000
"Pretty good monster you've got. Too bad he can't do piercing damage! I set a monster in defense mode and end my turn!"
"I draw! I summon Destiny Hero Captain Tenacious! Now I play Fusion Sage to add Polymerization to my hand! Then I'll play Fusion Tag to make the name of one of the monsters on my field the same as one of the fusion material monsters listed on the fusion card! I play Polymerization to fuse my heroes into Destiny End Dragoon!" A fearsome looking monster descended! "Now I'll activate his effect! I'll destroy one monster you control and destroy it! Now you take damage equal to its attack! And that's game!"
"I couldn't even get a scratch on you.", Aria said with a smirk. "So where do we go from here?"
"I say we head our separate ways. You two have fun on your own.", Adagio said as she grabbed Bloomer's arm.
"Fine by me." Aria and Night grabbed a bite to eat and spent some time working up a conversation as they went home. "You know, whatever costume you made must be pretty high-end. Those ears of yours almost look real."
"Uh...about that? They kind of are. And I also have a tail.", Night said nervously.
Aria was shocked! "Wait...you mean those ears are real?"
"Uh-huh. And it felt pretty nice when you scratched them. You don't think I'm a freak do you?" Aria laughed.
"Night. My family and I came from a world full of magical talking ponies and we tried to take over the school. You're pretty normal by comparison." Then an idea came to her. "So who's a good boy?", she said as she rubbed his stomach. Night was howling in laughter!
"I am! I am! Now please stop! I can't take much more!" The two of them soon wound up against each other.
"You're cool Night.", Aria said with a smile as she held his hand. "You were right when you said I wouldn't be disappointed." Aria leaned in and kissed him! "You're also pretty cute when you try and give me that puppy dog stare. I think that's why I fell for you." Night was so happy his tail was wagging!
"Thanks Aria.", he said with a grin. "I guess I fell for you when I first saw you." Something clicked inside Aria as Night said that. "And I'd gladly be yours. If you'll have me." Aria smiled and scratched his ears again.
"I'd love that.", she said as she kissed him goodbye. Meanwhile, Adagio and Bloomer seemed to be hitting it off pretty well too.
"I never got the chance to ask you Venus. How did you manage to get that flower you gave to me?"
"I'll show you!" Bloomer led her to a field. "I can manipulate and grow plants.", he said as he made a garden of flowers in an instant. Adagio was in awe of how beautiful his work was. "Still, no flower compares with how beautiful you are." Venus them wrapped his arms around Adagio. "Especially when you smile." Adagio was blushing!
"I don't think I've ever met a guy as sweet as you before." Venus smiled as he kissed her.
"And I've not met a girl like you." Venus escorted her home, and gave her a flower before he left. "A little something to remember tonight by." Adagio smiled as she put the flower in a vase to admire it before she went to bed. The next morning, she and Aria woke up and realized they'd gotten their singing voices back while they were in the shower! "Well, it's official. We owe Sonata big time for setting up that date."
"That's twice he's beaten me! Twice I've seen that blasted smile of his!", Blitz growled. "I have wealth, and I have power with my cards! So what does he have that I don't?!!" Blitz then saw mental images of Burst's friends, his girlfriends, his mom, and lastly he saw Burst's father. And he scowled at the sight of them. "Friends?! Loved ones?! Why would I need those! They're chains to hold me down! The only way to truly be strong is to win alone!" Soon a dark swirl materialized in the same room. "What? What is this?" Blitz reached his hand out to the swirl and it started to condense and he sensed something. "Power. Great power." A dark smile appeared on his face. "Power to make Burst kneel before me!" A low chuckle escaped his throat. "Power to make every duelist fear me!" Blitz then started to laugh. "Power to make them all bow before me!" The laughter grew louder and darker. "And power to destroy Burst and all those that dare oppose me!" The darkness fully formed and an evil looking Blue Eyes White Dragon materialized and gave Blitz a silent gaze that echoed his desires. "Heh. Heh heh heh heh heh. AHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHHAH!" The dragon let out a blood-curdling roar! "So who is the dragon that wishes to bestow me his power?", Blitz said with a wicked grin.
"Blue Eyes. Blue Eyes Darkness Dragon. I seek vengeance on the rest of my kind. Especially the Blue Eyes who is partnered with the one you wish to destroy!" The dragon really did look like an evil Blue Eyes White Dragon. Only his scales were pitch black, and his eyes were the darkest shade of blue possible. His wings were torn and battered. And his claws were almost like blades.
"Well then. This is the first time I'm going to view a monster more than just a tool....partner." Blitz let out one last cackle of evil laughter as he pictured his future victory. "Soon Burst. Soon you will fall!"
The weekend had come and gone, and Pinkie Pie was strolling about CHS with her trademark smile on her face. As she walked, she checked in on the current relationships her friends had. Burst, Celestia, and Moon were doing perfect as always, Inferno and Rarirty were just as happy as when they started dating, Gold and Sunset were positively glowing with happiness, Shadow and Starlight were pretty much inseperable, Rainbow Dash was being more affectionate towards Steel, and she had called up Indigo Zap to see how things were going with Dark Ice. Indigo said things were going just as good as ever between the two of them. Pinkie beamed as she went to check up on Ace and Sonata. When she asked them, Sonata decided to bring up an interesting development. "Oh! I thought you should know Pinkie, Adagio and Aria have boyfriends now! Two new relationships to keep tabs on!"
"Really?! Thanks for telling me!" Pinkie ran off to find Adagio first. She and Venus Bloomer were hanging around her locker.
"You sure know how to treat a girl. I think I lucked out in getting you.", Adagio said with a smirk as she kissed Venus Bloomer. "See you around handsome."
"See you soon Adagio.", Venus said with a smile as he left for his classes. Pinkie smiled as she documented the relationship in her notebook. She then moved on to find Aria and Night Fang.
"You are going to see me after school right?", Aria asked with a smile.
"I'd be an idiot not to.", Night said with a grin. Aria scratched his ears and rubbed his belly.
"Good boy.", she giggled before she kissed him.
"Awww! How cute!", Pinkie said. Aria and Night nearly jumped at hearing her come from completely out of nowhere!
"What are you doing?!", Aria nearly screamed.
"Just writing down the newest relationships of my friends so I know how to patch things up if you ever hit a rough spot!", Pinkie beamed. Before Aria had a chance to say thanks, Pinkie rushed over to Night and rubbed his belly.
"Ha ha ha ha hah!", Night howled. "Aria! Ha ha! Please get her off me! I can't stand this much longer!" Aria laughed at the sight before she managed to pry Pinkie off of Night. Meanwhile Ice thought he would surprise Ace and Shadow with a visit. But when he set foot on CHS, he felt an evil presence. And he was in shock at seeing where it was coming from.
"Burst?!" Blitz turned around. His skin was now pitch black and his eyes were dragonic.
"So you know my step-brother? Then allow me to send a message though you....", Blitz said with a dark smile.
"Hmmm. Something's not right.", Burst said with a serious look on his face.
"What's up Burst?", Inferno asked.
"It's been days since I beat Blitz in the hallway. And since then, we haven't seen any activity from him."
"Maybe you drove him out?", Sunset asked hopefully.
"I don't think so. I can tell he's not one to quit easily. I could see it in how savage he became when I fought him. I can't shake the feeling he's planning something. And whatever it is, it can't be good."
"You don't have to go it alone Burst. We're ready to fight alongside you all the way.", Ace said with a smile.
"Thanks everyone.", Burst said with a small smile. Soon Ace got a text from Ice telling him he was waiting at the front of the school. "It'll be nice to see Ice again. That should take our minds off of Blitz for a moment." The group went to meet Ice, but when they got to the front of the school they found him wounded!
"Ice, what happened?!", Ace said in shock.
"Burst...your step brother sends his regards...", Ice said weakly. Ice was rushed to the nurse's office, and he was patched up in almost no time. "Thanks for getting me fixed up. That duel was the most painful I've ever fought. I barely won..."
"Ice. What happened?", Burst asked. Ice's face turned serious as he recounted his duel against Blitz Surge.
Earlier that day...
"I sense a powerful dark monster had bonded with you as well.", Blitz said with a smirk. "Why not join me? I'm sure we could make every duelist fear us."
"No thanks.", Ice spat. "You know, darkness doesn't have to be evil. Red Dragon and I are proof of that. You could try to change."
"I don't want to.", Blitx said with a sneer. "In fact I enjoy causing pain to those beneath me! But the one duelist I want to destroy is Burst! And since you seem to be his friend, you'll be the one to send the message of my vengeance!" Blitz then activated his duel disk.
"If you want to hurt my friends, you're gonna have to get past me first!" Ice activated his duel disk!
Ice: 8000 Blitz: 8000
"I've got the first move.", Blitz said. "I summon Vanguard of the Fallen Dragon! I end my turn." A black dragon wielding a spear with a jagged edge appeared on the field. But the odd thing was that it had no attack or defense points. "I end my turn."
'Why would he summon a monster with no attack points in attack mode?', Ice thought to himself. "If that's the case, I special summon Kaiser Vorse Raider since I don't control any monsters! Now I summon Phantom King Hydride! I tune my Phantom King with Vorse Raider to synchro summon Red Dragon Archfiend! Destroy Vanguard of the Fallen Dragon! Absolute Power Force!" Blitz smiled as his monster was destroyed. "I'll set a card and end my turn."
Ice: 8000 Blitz: 5000
"Since you destroyed my vanguard, his ability activates! I can add a dark dragon type monster to my hand! Just as planned.", Blitz said as he added the card he wanted. "Now I summon Fallen Dragon Maiden in attack mode and end my turn." A female monster that appeared human with a black dress appeared on the field. Like Vanguard, this monster had no attack or defense points.
"This is too weird...", Ice said as he drew a card. "I'll attack your monster! Absolute Power Force!" Maiden was destroyed in a blast of flame!
"I don't like this Ice. I can literally taste the darkness coming from this guy.", Red Dragon said.
"I see it to Red. I set a card and end my turn."
Ice: 8000 Blitz: 2000
"And now it ends.", Blitz said with an evil smile. "Now that Maiden was destroyed, I can special summon a dark dragon-type monster from my hand! I summon Blue Eyes Darkness Dragon!" A horrifying roar was heard as a large black dragon descended from the sky. It's wings were tattered and worn. And its eyes were a haunting shade of dark blue, and seemed to radiate evil intent as it stared coldly at Red Dragon Archfiend. "Now his effect activates! I bet you're wondering why I summoned monsters with no attack or defense points? Simple. Blue Eyes Darkness Dragon gains attack points equal to the difference in our life points! Bringing him to 9000! Attack Red Dragon Archfiend! Dark Burst!" A blast of dark purple energy was fired from Blue Eyes Darkness Dragon!
"Not so fast! I activate Mirror Force! This'll stop your attack and destroy your monster!"
"I don't think so! Blue Eyes Darkness can't be destroyed by card effects!" Blue Eyes Darkness continued his attack undeterred! Ice braced himself for the damage headed his way, but was shocked to see Red Dragon was still standing! And he looked like he was in pain! "I end my turn. As for why your dragon is still standing, Blue Eyes Darkness doesn't destroy monsters. He makes them suffer by halving their attack points! But once he attacks, his attack points go back to normal.", Blitz said with a sadistic smile. The battle damage had Ice pretty roughed up Ice a bit, but he wasn't finished yet.
Ice: 2000 Blitz: 2000
"At least we're even in terms of life points. I switch Red Dragon into defense mode and end my turn."
"That won't save you. Attack him again! When Blue Eyes Darkness attacks a defense mode monster he deals piercing damage!"
"Aaagggh!", Red Dragon groaned in pain as he was hit with another blast of dark energy!
"I end my turn.", Blitz said with a dark smile. "Your pain is just beginning."
Ice: 1500 Blitz: 2000
Ice was panicking, but then he noticed a rainbow-colored flash go off on the top of his deck. "Huh?", Ice said as he drew the card. His eyes turned dragonic. "Just what I need! I play the spell card Synchro Harmony! This lets me send a tuner monster from my hand, deck or field and non-tuner monsters from my hand, deck or field, or banish them from my graveyard for a synchro summon! I'll send a tuner from my deck and Red Dragon on my field and tune them! Come on out! Red Dragon Archfiend Ascended!" Red Dragon emerged from a pillar of flame wearing brilliant scarlet armor and boasting 4500 attack points. At the same time, Ice sprouted wings like Red Dragon Archfiend's! "Red Dragon Ascended can't be target or destroyed by card effects! Destroy Blue Eyes Darkness Dragon! Ascension Power Force!"
"You just got burned!", Red Dragon roared as he wrapped his fist in flames and decimated Blue Eyes Darkness Dragon with a mighty punch!
"I end my turn."
Ice: 1500 Blitz: 500
"Blast! I forfeit!", Blitz hissed as he began to teleport away. "Give Burst this message! This is only the beginning!" And he vanished without a trace.
Now...
"And that's how we got here.", Ice said as he finished retelling his duel. "I tell you Burst. This guy is rotten to the core."
"And we thought he was bad when he first showed up!", Sunset said with a worried look on her face.
"Looks like his monster reflects how ruthless he is.", Gold added.
"I say we find Blitz and teach him a lesson!", Rainbow said.
"How could someone do something this horrible?", Fluttershy cried as she helped clean up Ice.
"This guy's bad news Burst. I knew it from the second I looked at him. He's pure evil!", Inferno said.
"So what're we gonna do?", Ace asked.
"We take Blitz down.", Burst said firmly. Everyone was shocked! They'd never seen Burst this angry before! "He's attacked one of my friends, and he's made it clear he's got no intent of changing his ways. And he's acting of his own will. Not like when Ice was controlled by Dark Mist." Burst then sighed. "I just wish there was another way, but I can't let him hurt anyone else. It's time to duel."
Burst was telling his mom and dad about what Blitz had done, and both were understandably shocked by what they heard. "And that's why I'm going to face him. I have to stop him before he hurts anyone else."
"I should have known this would happen.", Burst's dad said sadly.
"Why?"
"When his original father died, he was left alone with his mother. He isolated himself everyone in order to be stronger, and it was from this that he believed that only the truly strong needed no one. He even isolated himself from his mother, and made himself cold to the point of being nearly heartless. And now it seems that it's finally boiled to the surface and revealed the monster he truly has become. I don't know if it' possible, but all I ask is that you try and save him. I see him as my son just as much as I see you."
"...I'll try." It began to storm when Burst left, and the rain was light when it fell. Blitz had left a message for Burst. Telling him where to meet for their destined battle. And that he had surprise to show him. Burst arrived at what looked like an arena full of dragon statues and found Blitz waiting for him.
"You showed up.", Blitz said as he turned to face Burst.
"So what's the surprise you were so eager to show me?", Burst asked. Blitz cracked a dark smile and snapped his fingers. Burst was shocked to see that his friends were imprisoned in a barrier! "Let them go! I'm the one you want, so leave them out of this!"
"Oh I'm not holding them hostage. I just want them to watch as I make you suffer.", Blitz said with a dark chuckle. "Let's not prolong your defeat!" Blitz activated his duel disk.
"Don't do this Blitz. You can turn back from this. You just have to want me to help you.", Burst pleaded.
"I don't want to turn back."
"Then I don't have a choice." Burst activated his duel disk.
Burst: 8000 Blitz: 8000
"I summon Axe Dragonute and set a card face-down! I end my turn.", Blitz said.
"I draw! I summon Maiden with Eyes of Blue and play Trade-in to discard a level eight monster and draw two new cards! I end my turn."
"My turn. I attack your maiden!" Axe Dragonute charged, but was blocked by Maiden's effect!
"Since you attacked I get to use Maiden's effect! I special summon Blue Eyes White Dragon from my deck!"
"I'll end my turn for now."
"I draw! I summon White Stone of Legend and tune it with Blue Eyes to bring out Azure Eyes Silver Dragon! Now I play Return of the Dragon Lords to revive the Blue Eyes in my graveyard! Azure Eyes destroys your monster while Blue Eyes attacks you directly! And since Azure Eyes is on the field my dragons can't be targeted or destroyed by card effects until the end of the next turn! I'll end my turn now." Blitz braced himself as he took damage!
"Way to make a dent in him Burst!", Inferno cheered.
"You got this man!", Ace shouted.
Burst: 8000 Blitz: 4500
"How touching. They think you'll win.", Blitz said with a dark smile. "Now to show them how wrong they are! I play Double Summon to bring out Keeper of the Shrine! Now I tribute him to summon Blue Eyes Darkness Dragon!" Blitz's dragon let out a terrifying roar as it took the field. "Now he gains attack points equal to our difference in life points! Attack Blue Eyes White Dragon! Dark Burst!" Burst winced as he took damage, and saw that Blue Eyes was still standing with only half of his attack points! "What's most satisfying about this is that your monsters will suffer with you! Blue Eyes Darkness doesn't destroy his enemies when he attack, but he does sap them of their strength until they have nothing left!", Blitz said with a savage smile. "And the worst is yet to come! I end my turn."
Burst: 4500 Blitz: 4500
"I draw! I reveal a Blue Eyes in my hand to summon Blue Eyes Alternative! Now I'll use his effect! I target and destroy Blue Eyes Darkness Dragon! What?!" Even after Alternative used his effect, but bounced off of Blue Eyes Darkness! "I'm guessing your monster can't be targeted or destroyed by card effects. I end my turn."
"Now to further your pain! I play Stop Defense to switch your Blue Eyes back into attack mode! Make him suffer Blue Eyes Darkness!"
"Aaagghhh!", Burst and Blue Eyes screamed in pain as they endured the force of Blue Eyes Darkness's attack! The damage was so intense that Burst was knocked to the ground!
"I end my turn.", Blitz said with a savage smile.
"Come on Burst! Don't give up yet!", Sunset shouted.
"You can beat this guy! Hold on for a few more turns!", Moon shouted.
"Get up! Don't let him get to you!", Celestia said.
Burst: 3000 Blitz: 4500
"Nnngh. The duel isn't over until the last card's drawn.", Burst groaned as he got to his feet. "I draw! I play Harmony Absolute! I tribute the Blue Eyes on my field to bring out Blue Eyes Absolute Dragon! Now I play Dragon Shrine to send a normal dragon from my deck to my graveyard, and I'll send another dragon since I sent a normal dragon! Attack Blue Eyes Darkness Dragon! Absolute Neutron Blast!" Blitz shielded himself from the light that came from Absolute's attack! "I end my turn. This is your last chance to surrender."
Burst: 3000 Blitz: 3300
"Never. NEVER!!", Blitz growled! "I play Soul Charge! By paying 1000 life points I can special summon Blue Eyes Darkness from the graveyard! Now I'll equip him with Megamorph! This doubles his attack! Attack Blue Eyes Absolute! Now you lose!" Blue Eyes Darkness fired its attack, but Blue Eyes Absolute was still standing and Burst had taken no damage! "WHAT?! Your monster should be gone! I end my turn!"
"Blue Eyes Absolute can't be destroyed by battle and I take no battle damage when he's attacked. This is because I've got friends and people I love to back me up! And as long as I remember that I'm never alone! This is my power!" Burst then activated his dragon powers! "Now to end this! I play Twin Twisters! I discard a card and target up to two spell and trap cards on the field and destroy them! I choose Megamorph and your face-down! And the card I discarded was a dragon, so that give Blue Eyes just enough power to win this!"
"NO!"
"Now your monster's attack points fall to 3700. End this Blue Eyes!"
"Absolute Neutron Blast!", the two of them shouted together as they fired a blast that destroyed Blue Eyes Darkness Dragon!
"NNNOOOOOO!", Blitz screamed as he was engulfed by the light! When the light faded, Blitz was out cold and the barrier that trapped Burst's friends dispelled.
"You showed him!", Inferno said as he and the others congratulated Burst on his victory. But Blitz was far from defeated.
"No..no...NO! It should be me! It should be me where you are!", Blitz screamed as he gazed at Burst being surrounded by his friends. "YOUR LIFE SHOULD BE MINE!"
"And why's that?", Burst asked calmly. "Last I checked I was the one who proved himself by facing great evil and triumphing over it."
"Because I orchestrated the evil you defeated!" Everyone was in shock at hearing this! "It was all so perfect! I gave Sombra and Tirek Zorc and the Wicked God Cards so they could try to conquer our world and the monsters'! I'd then defeat them when they came into power and save the world! Everyone would call me a hero! I'd be adored by all! It should've been me! But every time YOU showed up! YOU defeated them and robbed me of the glory and fame that should've been MINE!"
"Then you wanted to be a hero for all the wrong reasons. I don't fight for glory or fame. I stood against evil because I wanted to, and because it was the right thing to do! And I could care less if no one ever thanked me for it! And now that I know you deliberately almost put the world in jeopardy, I'll never forgive you!" Blitz growled and summoned a katana that looked like it was modeled after Blue Eyes Darkness Dragon. "So that's how far you wanna go." Burst then summoned his own weapons.
Blitz charged at Burst and took a swing at him, but Burst blocked it with his own sword. "My life is mine. You've got your own.", Burst joked. Blitz just snarled before he tried to knock Burst back.
"Well I want yours too." He then sent our a wave of darkness from a slash of his sword! Burst countered with a wave of light from his own sword and managed to land a few shots from his blasters on Blitz!
"What are you gonna do once you have my life? No matter how hard you try, you could never be me!" This only enraged Blitz as he began to just slash away like a wild beast!
"SHUT UP!" Blitz took to he air with his wings and fired an orb of dark energy right at Burst! But Burst destroyed it with a charged shot from his blaster! Burst flew up to Blitz and caught him off guard with a punch to the gut, and sent him hurtling toward the ground with one strike from his sword! "How can a weakling like you beat me?!"
"Simple. I don't have delusions of grandeur and I don't have a lousy temper.", Burst quipped as he fired a barrage of shots from his blasters! Blitz could do little more than deflect them, and that let Burst get up close and knock away his sword! "Give up now. Don't make this any worse than it needs to be.", Burst said sadly. "You can change Blitz. You don't have to be like this!"
"Spare me your advice!", Blitz snapped. "I like being this way. And this isn't even my full power!" Blitz doubled over as he began a monstrous transformation! He grew claws, his teeth sharpened to razors, and he looked more and more like Blue Eyes Darkness Dragon. "Now to finish you!" Blitz released a huge blast of dark energy that knocked Burst back! He took a moment to savor Burst lying on the floor. But as he tried to deal the finishing blow, a huge surge of power pushed him back!
Burst was surrounded by a blue aura that was crackling with energy! Soon he delivered a powerful uppercut that sent Blitz flying! Blitz recovered, but was knocked back to the ground by Burst again! Burst landed, and Blitz started to make a mad charge at him! Burst then began gathering energy in his fist! "This fist of mine shines with great power! It's light tells me to defeat you! Take this! Friday came sooner than anyone thought, and a rumor was circulating through the whole school. Students were talking about some sort of performance that was going on today at lunch and that Burst would be performing. "So what do you guys think Burst's up to?", Ace asked.
"Well, he's probably going to sing.", Inferno speculated. "That's what we've all done together to celebrate our victory. And if Burst's performing solo, I think we're in for a treat! He got a new drago arm that looks like an electric guitar and you don't need amps or cords to rock with it!"
"That sounds awesome!", Rainbow squealed! "Now I'm really excited for whatever Burst had planned!"

"We'll find out at lunch period today. Burst made sure to get us the best seats!", Sunset added. Soon lunch period arrived and everyone gathered at the stage that was setup at the cafeteria. Burst walked out carrying an electric guitar that was modeled after Blue Eyes White Dragon, and the whole crowd cheered. Burst waited for them to quiet down before addressing them. "You ready CHS?!" Burst then began playing and started the song by belting out two words.
