This is a what if story.
What if Celestia had found each of the main 6 and had train them together to take on Nightmare Moon?
What would be different, what would be the same? This is my take on it.
Also the there all human, why? Because.

If only....

Chapter 1

Princess Celestia was annoyed, frustrated, and worst of all bored. Unfortunately for her boredom along with the annoyance and frustration had become a daily occurrence in her Day Court as of the last couple century or so. What was originally designed to be a forma where all people, of any ranking, could come to express their concerns and problems to her, the ruler of all the lands, had descended into a political battle grounds, where piety lords and ladies attempted to get one up on the others noble houses, through any means they could. This particular day was no different, as lord Rich Mint was pleading out his case on why a farm from his home town should be force to sell its land to him. Rich Mint was a short, plum man who originally hailed from a quiet small town near the border of Equestria, to which his family owned most of the land. As of recent years though he had been spending most of his time, and his family money, here in Canterlot. Which explained his want of one of the few lands not held by his family in his home town. Celestia’s information network had already told her all of this before Lord Rich Mint had even started to talk. It had also informed her that the farm was, beside being a semi-profitable business, was also located on some very promising looking mineral samples. So it was no wonder to Celestia at all why Lord Mints wanted this land. She had also decided before he even got two sentences into his very well written, overly wordy, speech to denial his claim. His boring and long winded speech had absolutely no legal backing at all. It basically boiled down into ‘I should get it because I want it’.

Celestia had to hold back a heavy sigh as the 58 minute of Lord Mints never ending speech passed by. Sometime she had to wonder if her people thought she was an idiot or a fool. For some reason they thought that if they use enough long, fancy words, and spoke an incredibly long time, that she would simply just give them what they wanted. In all the time that she had ruled, which was a very long time indeed, it has never once worked, and yet they continue to take up an enormous among of her time with it. It almost made her want for the old days, back when Equestria was still struggling to get a foothold in this world. Back then people didn’t have the time to waste on fancy speeches. They didn’t have the time to stand around all day, blowing hot air, and listening to other whine about how Lord so and so slighted them at a party, or that Lady this and that was selling gossip to a local news rag. No they had things to get done and action to take. Back then things were much more directed, and though there are certain things in modern time that Celestia wouldn’t trade for all the gold in Equestria, there was something to be said about people mindset back then. The Day Court back then was much more about solving problems, and less about keeping peace among minor houses of right, and though sometime people did come to her with a genuine problem though time were rare as a blue moon. It sometime made her wonder why she had ever even made the noble houses. At the time it had seem like such a good idea.

“Erhum” A guard to Celestia left cleared his throat, Visual, she believed his name was. A tall and stacked man who had been on her royal guard for many of years now. No longer in his youth, as when he was first station at the castle, but no less of an impressive sight, with his big muscle from years of training, and stoic faces. He was by far one of the most perfect examples of how a guard should be, quiet, but alert, blending into the background, but seeing all. Which it why she was surprised that he had made any sound at all. Looking at him, a questionable look mirrored on her face, he very slightly nodded his head in the direction of her court, a movement so tiny that in less you knew the man, and were looking very closing at him you wouldn’t notices it at all. Pausing she turned back toward the group of people that were there to buy for her time. Their they all stood, quietly looking at her, waiting, a look confusion with a little concerned echoed on all of their faces. That is when Celestia realized that it was her they were waiting on. At some point during Lord Rich Mints’ speech she had drifted off into her own thought, and not even realized when he finishes talking. They all started at her expectantly, it wasn’t very often that she slipped up. The last time in recent memory, or what Celestia consider recent memory, was about 120 years ago, and it had taken a good 10 years to recover from that slip. She had to play this off just right, or it would mean many late nights for the foreseeable future to fix it, a task that she did not wish to undertake. So quickly she composed herself, playing it off as though she was deep in thought weighting all the choices before her. In reality there was only on choice, sadly enough there was usually only one choice. Most of the decision placed in front of her were never very hard, almost anyone with any kind of moral code could do this. Sometime, and only ever to herself, and never all that often, but sometime Celestia wished that something would happen, something different, some that would shake up everything, make things exciting again. No she did not wish this wish often, but as she sat there upon her throne, all the nobles of Canterlot waiting on her voice, silently inside her head, as she pretended to be deep in thought, she wish that something grand and unexpected would happen, and then her school exploded.

So it begins...

To be completely fair it wasn’t the whole school that had explode, but one tower of the school. After an extremely loud boom, followed by a rainbow that streaked across the sky, the tower where the entrance exam were being held, exploded with a blinding white light followed by a dragon tearing through it’s roof. While everyone in the Day Court stood, mouth hung open, as a fully grown dragon stood where the top of the tower should have been, Celestia had already sprung into action. Leaping off her throne, she teleported herself to the base of the tower, already she could feel the sheer amount of magic just pouring off the building. Whatever had happen inside had use more magic than Celestia had ever felt in the use of a single spell.

“You just had to asked for something more exciting to happen, didn’t you.” Celestia scoured herself under her breath. Guards came running up to her armed to the teeth, unsure of what to expect, or what would be asked of them. Celestia stopped them, holding up a single hand, her wings out as if to say ‘go no further’.

“Wait here, the magic is to strong for you just yet, I will go in and see what is causing all of this.” She said never once looking toward the Captain of the guard who she knew stood there now. Captain Ever Strong was wise and a good captain, but he was also an Earth bound, and the magic that the tower was giving off would overload even the strongest Mana bound let allow an earth bound. No for this one she had to go alone.

The second she enter into the magical field Celestia felt weighted down, as though someone had thrown a 100 tons of steel onto her back. Even with all her magic ability, and years of experience it still took Celestia an enormous amount of effort to make it to the top of the tower were the source of the problem was.

Finally after what seem like forever, or maybe that was a time effect cause by the magic, Celestia made it to the ruin doorway of the exam room. During her arduous journey she had plenty of time to wonder what had cause this out flow of magic. Was it attack on Equestria? So new high evil that she would have to deal with, alone. It wasn’t a pleasant thought. What she found beyond that ruin doorway was far beyond what she had ever imagined.

There in the middle of the ruin room, trapped in the center of a pulsing white ball of pure magical energy, was a young girl. A child who could be no older than 6 years of age. The energy around her pulsed like a heartbeat sending out magical energy that either changed or destroyed all that it touched, because of that, the once exam room was barely standing. From the broken egg shell around one of the large feet of the dragon Celestia could only assume that the dragon had very recently been hacked, right here in this room. This was extremely unusual, as age spell were some of the hardest magic, that only the most trained of the Mana bound had been able to use, yet somehow this small child had been able to pull it off. Granted that it was very obvious that she didn’t mean to do it, but that mere fact that she had the potential to do it was enough to give Celestia pause.

Slowly she made her way toward the child. Several lives all hung on the balance here. Their fates would all be determined by how Celestia handled the child. The closer she go to small girl the harder it became, the magic energy pushing back at her. Any person beside her would have already failed, of this Celestia was sure. By the time she made it to the child side she was out of breath, like she had just ran around the world...twice. Up close Celestia got a better look at the young one. Being this closed to her, the child’s youth really struck her. So young, yet so powerful. She could make out the child dark hair with a dark purple and a dark pink strike going through it. Her skin, a coffee cream color, was visibly pale, and her body twitched in pain every few second or so. The magic the child was casting was slowly and painfully killing her, Celestia knew she had to act fast or risk losing the child and all the life lines that were currently connect to her’s.

First Celestia center herself, pulling herself in to a single focused point, a calm and serene mind. Next she put a hand onto the child, not an easy task as the magic attempted to pull the flash off her very bones. Once she made physical contact with the child she force her own centered mind onto the child's. It was not easy to bring the child mind to a calm center, it was a swirl with emotions, the forefront of which was fear.

‘Calm my child, control your fear, do not let it control you.’ Celestia whispered into the child’s mind, and she could feel the immediate change. The fear slowly started to fade, being replaced by confusing and curiously. Already the child mind was reeling trying to figure out what had happen, what was going on, before she even truly regain control of herself, her mind was already organizing and reasoning out as well as it could with what little info it had.

Celestia found herself smiling down at the child as the magic slow abated, and everything converted back to it’s normal appearance, including a now baby dragon giggling on the floor where it’s giant foot once was. Celestia couldn’t help but feel excited, this child was perhaps the most powerful Mana bound to be born since Starswirl the bearded. All the possibility of what this child may one day do swam around her head. One thing was clear, she would need guidance, someone powerful to help her control her growing powers. Someone who could help steer her down the right path, and who better to do that then Celestia herself.

‘Yes’ Celestia thought to herself, as the young child began to open her eyes ‘This day had indeed become an exciting one, and something tell me this is just the start.’

The Ruined Room

When the child first open her eyes was a moment that would stick with Celestia for years to come. Her face was an open book as it went from confusion, to fear, and finally excitement as it slowly started to figure out what had happened, and who had brought her back from the edge of destruction.

“P..p..princess Celestia?” The your girl stuttered out, a mixed of admiration and confusion echoed in her eyes. Celestia lower unto her knees to look at the girl, who was attempting to sit up, at her level.

“You seem to have me at a disadvantaged.” Celestia told the young girl. A calm smile on her face as she waited for her to understand. For only a moment the child looked confused and then it was almost like a lightbulb went off in her head. Celestia could literally see the child figure out that she was asking for her name.

“OH right!” The child said excitedly. “I am Twilight Sparkle.” She quickly stood up as she introduce herself to the ruler of all the lands. A carefree smile on her face that only a child, who had no true worries, could wear.

“Well Twilight.” Celestia stated trying her best to keep for laughing at the young child’s exuberant. “You are a very special child. That was quite some spell casting you just did there.” Twilight blushed at the praise that Celestia had given down onto her, and then looked guiltily around the room.

“I’m sorry.” She said her small head held down as though she could not hold it up for all the shame.

“Sorry for what child? Surges happen, you are a Mana bound, and as your magic grows it will surge from time to time until you learn how to control it. True most children surges aren’t as...grand, but no one can hold it against you. All you need is practice and a good teacher, and I think i know just the person who can help you get your magic under control.” Celestia told Twilight.

“Who?” Twilight said her eyes wide in expectedly.

“Me.” Celestia said and held back a laugh as Twilight almost fainted from her excitement. Her eyes so wide that it look as though they took up her whole face. Celestia could see the thousand of question running from through the girls head.

“But first we must be sure your parents agree.” She told Twilight, before the child got ahead of herself. “And I think there is some other new your parents will want to hear about also.”

“What that?” Twilight asked already vibrating in her spot unable to hold in her happiest much longer.

“It looks as if someone has received their destiny mark.” Celestia told her, pointing to the dark pink star surround by 5 little stars, that now sat on Twilight’s forehead. Twilight’s eyes crossed as the tried to look at her own forehead. Celestia magically produced a mirror and held it in for of the girl so she could see.

“OH, MY, GOSH!!!” Twilight yelled and immediately run over to the two adults that were just standing off to the side, if Celestia wasn’t mistaken they were just plants a few seconds ago.

Celestia stood back and watched the charming family moment unfold. Twilight bounded around her parents as she happily showed off her new mark. Both parent smiled wearily down at her. Happy for their daughter’s achievement, but worry about what had just happened, and what it would mean for their daughter. They shifted their eyes to Celestia, and immently realized just who she was.

“Princess!” The women, Twilight’s mother, said and she and her husband quickly bowed. Twilight stopped her little hopping dance and tilted her head as she watched her parents. Then she turned toward Celestia and attempted a bow of her own, unfortunately for her, she wasn’t quite as balanced as her parent were and end up tipping forward and would have fallen over if not for her father quick reflexes. Celestia smiled at the loving parents.

“You two have a very special daughter…” Celestia pause realizing that she didn’t know the two adult’s names.

“Oh I am Twilight Velvet and this is my husband Night Light.” The women answer promptly, and with poised that came with training as one of the upper houses. If Celestia were to guess she would assume that she was a part of a minor noble house. Enough to be taught the proper way of the count but not high enough to be one of though annoying Lords and Ladies waiting for her back in the throne room. “Not to be rude, your Majesty, but what is going to happen to Twilight?” The mother asked as she moved said child behind her as if to stop the princess from any unwanted acts again her baby.

“As i was saying before, Twilight is very special, her mana bond magic is some of the most powerful i have seen in many years, but with those power she will need to learn control. We don’t want this to happen again, do we?” Celestia said and did a swiping gesture of the ruined room. Once again Twilight lower her head, her eyes showing how sorry she truly was. Twilight Velvet eyes hard and and drew in a deep breath, as though she was about to argue with the Princess, but Celestia cut in before she could even start “That is why i have decided to take her on as my personal student.” Celestia said and held back a laugh as the 2 mana bond parents’ mouth hung open in surprise.

“See, see i told you.” Twilight said, quickly changing her emotion to one of guilt to one of happiest, as she continue her happy bounding dance, and it took everything Celestia had to keep her composer, lucky for her she had years of training in just that.

As she stood there, watching the family celebrate in the destroyed class room Celestia saw the professor that had be conducting the test start to get up. She know that there would be much explaining to do for everything that just happen, but for once she wasn’t annoyed by it. She was excited for a change to teach someone who had so much potential in them. As that thought crossed her mind the very special necklace that she had worn around her neck for the last thousand years started to softly glow. At that Celestia always composed face fell away into that of one of shock and amazement. Quickly she recovered before anyone could see. She turned her gaze back to young Twilight, realizing just how truly special this child was.

One step Forward

Ch. 4

Celestia sat in her room deep in thought. The sun had long since been set, and the moon was high in the sky. After the day’s events Celestia was aware that she should be fast asleep, she really was very tired, but her mind would not let her rest. Before her on her table laid the necklace that for almost a thousand years she had worn. The necklace itself was simple, 6 shards of crystals, of 6 various colors maked up the stone that sat upon the golden chain. It had served as a remember to what could be loss if one was not careful. In almost a thousand year the necklace had done nothing be sit there, but today it glowed, and that changed everything.

“Guard.” Celestia called out to the man she knew stood stoically on the other side of her door. “Get me Engle Eye and Finder.”

“Yes, ma.” The guard called out from the other side of the closed door and Celestia could hear the footsteps of the retreated guard running off to comply with her order. If this meant what Celestia thought it meant then young Twilight really was a very special mana-bond and what she did at the school today was only a small sample of what her powers one day would be able to do one day. The possibility of what this all meant dance before Celestia’s eyes. This could mean the answer to a lot of things that had been plague Celestia for a while now. Things that had haunted her dreams and waking hours alike.

Yes Twilight could be the answer, but Celestia knew she couldn’t do it alone. There would be others. Five other to be exact. They too would need to be found, they would need to be trained. Together they would be great, and with Celestia there to guide them, they would be able to raise above all the challenges they would now be destined to face. For a second Celestia allowed herself to feel guilty that she was about the rob these children of whatever future the had planned for themselves. If she could she would ignore this obvious sign. Let them form their own lives, fulfilled their own desired, but she didn’t have the luxury to do that. Her kingdom need these children, and she would not let her kingdom down. She did take some solace in the fact she was going to give these children the best possible chance to succeed.

“Your Majesty.” A knock came from the other side of the door, bring Celestia out of her musing. “Engle Eye and Finder, here as you requested.”

“Enter.” Celestia said as she made sure she reflected the confidence and determination that a ruler should. Two men enter into her room. One tall with a sandy head of hair, and determined green eyes. Next to him was a shorter man with dark as midnight black hair with stormy gray eyes. Both man dress in light cloth, in earth tone and walked with quick, quiet steps. It was odvision by the way the walk and how the scan the room as they entered that they had, had some guard training, but neither worn the armor of the royal guards. Both men where earth-bond and very good at what they did. Each man had their destiny mark right by their eyes. Finders mark was a skyglass, well Engle eyes mark was a bird soaring above a forest. They stopped just 10 feet before Celestia and both got down on one knee to bow.

“You sent for us, your Majesty?” The one with sandy hair said. He was Finder, his partner with the dark hair would be Eagle eye. Celestia had used them on several occasion. They were the best when it came to finding, people or items, and as to this date they had never failed her.

“Thank you both of coming on such short notices. I have a very important job for the two of you. There are 5 children I need for you to find.” Celestia told them then held up her necklace. For a brief moment the moonlight hit the necklace allowing it to shine and glitter. In that moment Celestia almost didn’t want to let it go. She know they would need the necklace, it was the only way of finding the right children, but still she had, had it for almost a thousand years, it was hard to let go of something when it had been with you for that long. She sigh when she realized that the true reason she didn’t want to let it go wasn’t that she had, had it for almost a thousand years, but that it was the last thing she had for the one she had lost. Determined now she plunged forward, a lot rested on this necklace, more then anyone could truly know. “This necklace will help you find them. It will glow when you are close to one of them.” Finder took the necklace from her, and handed it to his parenter before speaking.

“What is it we should do once we find these children?”

“Bring them and their guardians here. Unharmed.” Really Celestia knew that these two wouldn’t hurt these children, she said it more because it was expected then fear of them coming to harm. “Start with the sort of that Rainboom earlier, I have a feeling that it will lead you to one of the children.” With that both man rose, bowing the whole time as they left the room, necklace in hand.

Now came the hardest part, waiting. Lucky she had many thing to occupied her until the two return. There were rooms to set up, people to hire and one young mana-bound who would be at the castle soon wanting to learn. No to mention she had a kingdom to run. The nobles wouldn’t like the fact that she run out on them and never return. That made Celestia smile. Oh sure she would pay for it tomorrow, but maybe, just maybe some of those self absorb nobles would learn some patients. She wasn’t holding her breath on that one, but it was a nice thought.

The Front Gates

View Online

‘The castle is huge’, was the first thought that Twilight had as she stood outside the front of the palaces, waiting not so patiently for her parents to catch up with her. Two large massive gates blocked her from entering into the courtyard of the castle. It had been exactly one week since she had accidently destroyed the exam room. A part of her was still surprised that a heavier punishment wasn’t give to her for destroying an entire room. She understood that it was a magic surge that had caused her to do it, but she got in trouble at home for not picking her toy off the floor, and to quote her mother ‘destroying her room’ and she had done much worse then leave some toy laying around to that exam room.

Before her 2 guards were standing at attention. Staring straight ahead, giving no mind to the young child standing right in front of them. Twilight inspected them as only a child could. They appeared quite stoybookest standing there in their shining armor, swords hanging at their sides. Yes they appeared to be quite ready to storm an evil castle, defeat an evil wizard, and rescue whomever needed rescuing. Very impressive, Twilight decide. Not as impressive as Shinny was, of course, but not everyone could be the best big brother in the whole world.

As Twilight stood there, inspecting the guards, her parents finally came, huffing and puffing, up the hill that lead to the castle. Twilight's father, Night Light, was struggling to carry Twilight’s over stuffed suitcase. Next to him walked his beautiful wife, Twilight Velvet, a worried look upon her face.

“Twilight! What have I told you about running off?” Twilight Velvet said sternly when she spotted her daughter standing in front of the castle guards. Twilight turned to look at her approaching parents, one of which looked extremely unhappy.

“You told me not to ever do it.” Twilight states sweetly to her mother. “But I didn't run off. I scouted out ahead.” She explained simply and then smiled. There, problem taken care of. She explained logically and rationally to her mother that what she did wasn't ‘running off’.

Twilight Velvet groaned internally at her youngest child explanation. She would have to have a conversation with her eldest child about not teaching Twilight all the military stuff he was learning in basic training. Really Shining Armor should be aware of how much his younger sister looks up to him, and everyone knows how she sucks up information like a sponge.

“Twilight.” Twilight Velvet said in her most motherly tone. “ You didn't listen, first when I told you not to run ahead, and then when I yelled for you to come back. What do you have to say for yourself.

Twilight at least had the good sense to look guilty. Her wide puppy dog eyes stared watery up at her mother. “ I'm sorry.” Twilight said in her smallest most pathetic voice.

“Very well.” Twilight Velvet relented and then turned to look at the guards. Her husband joined her on the other side of their daughter. She hesitated, ahead of her was a future she wasn't sure she was ready for. For the last week or so Twilight had almost been bouncing off the walls. It was all Twilight Velvet could do to keep the young girl contained. Twilight had talked nonstop able Princess Celestia. How amazing she was at all things. It caused a small pain of jealousy in her heart. Twilight Velvet knew there was no way for her to measure up to a princess, but was it too much to ask for her own child to look at her like she could?

“Hum...honey?” Night Light’s voice broke through her musings. It appeared as though they had been standing there from some time. Both her daughter and husband started at her. Both their faces showed with concern.

“Right.” Twilight Velvet stated trying to cover up her lapsed. “Shall we go then?” Twilight nodded her head excitedly and run up to guards, her parents following quietly behind her.

“Honey are you sure you're fine with this?” Night Light whispered to his wife.

“No I'm not fine with any of it” Twilight Velvet whispered back, with tears in her eyes. “But we really don't have a choice right now.” And with that Twilight Velvet came up to the guards putting her arm around her daughter in a kind of half hug.

“We're here to see the Princess.” Twilight Velvet announced not letting any of her overwhelming sadness leek into her voice. For the first time since the small family arrived the guards standing at attention in front of the main castle gates looked at them.

“Name and purpose?” The guard to the right asked in a quick sharp voice.

“Hum right, huh ah we are here by order of the Queen.” Night Light replied stumbling over his words. “I am Night Light, and this is my wife Twilight Velvet, and our daughter Twilight Sparkle.” Both guards turned and looked at the young girl. It was clear by the look on their faces that they knew who Twilight was. Twilight Velvet was very aware that politically speaking the news of what her daughter had done the other week had more than likely made it all through Canterlot.

“Right, she has been expecting you. Please continue inside. A guard on the other side will take you to the Princess.” The same guard who spoke before informed them, as his companion used his magic to open the gate. Twilight stood in awe at the display of magic in front of her. She wonder if one day she would be able to open though huge gates with just her magic.

“Come along now Twilight.” Her mother stated, her parent already walking inside as Twilight was watching the mana-bound work. “We mustn't keep the Princess waiting.” Twilight needed no other prompting after that. She quickly run up to where her parents waited inside the massive gates.

The First Day

View Online

Celestia was excited. The plan was moving forward. She had received a message from Finder explaining how they had located the young girl who had created the sonic rainboom. According to the letter the girl was also no more than 6, just like Twilight. The child and her father were on their way to Canterlot now, and would arrive in the next day or two. It was all very exciting. A child so young being able to put off a move that hasn't been seen in hundreds or thousands of years. Why she must be quite special. Just like a young girl of six being able to grow a dragon like Twilight did. There was no doubt in Celestia mind that Finder and Engle Eye had found the right child, and Celestia couldn't wait to meet her, but first she had another thing to take care of.

That thing of course was making sure Twilight Sparkle got settled and her parents were put at ease. The first part of that was easy. The young girl appeared in awe of everything she saw. Celestia had workers working none stop for a week to build the special wing of the castle for her plan. Everything the children would need was self contained in this repurposed wing. This included, but was not limited to bedrooms (six of them), a full sized bath, a kitchen with its own staff, a dining room, many many classroom, a library, and an outside enclosed area because sunlight was important. The reason why Celestia made this new wing instead of just using the ones the castle already had were many, but a main reason was the castle was huge, with many secrets, not all of them good, and Celestia was very aware of what a curious young mind could get into. By making a wing which had all the children would need she narrowed down the risk of them getting lost or hurt in the castle. As Twilight bounced and skipped around her new room in delight, Celestia turned her gazes onto Twilight’s parents. Night Light, her father, stood watching his daughter a small smile upon his face as he observed her antics. Twilight Velvet on the other hand worn a much more serious face. It was clear she was both worried and sad. Celestia came up next to the worried mother.

“You daughter is quite unique.” Celestia commented it the ways of starting a conversation. Twilight Velvet gazed at Celestia from the Corner of her eyes, but didn't turn to her.

“She is amazing. What you saw at the exam room was only the beginning of what my little Twilight can do.” Twilight Velvet stated in only the way a mother talking about their child could.

“I hope you realize I'm not taking over for you. You and Night Light will always be her parents, I will just be her teacher.” Celestia told the worried mother. Twilight Velvet needed that assurance. As amazing and talented her daughter was, she was still only six years old. Not many six year old went to live away from home, and it was killing Twilight Velvet to do it. The one thing that made her able to do it was that she knew it was the best thing for Twilight. Where Twilight Velvet was pretty decent at magic herself, she wasn't a teacher, and there wasn't a better teacher for her daughter then the princess. Now Twilight Velvet was like many of parents and only wanted the very best for her daughter, and here it was the very best, handed to her on a silver platter. So she smiled at the princess.

“Oh I am aware of that.” She stated calmly then walked over to where her daughter was calling her to come look at something.

***

~Many Hours later~

Twilight Velvet and Night Light were finally on their way home. Princess Celestia sighed to herself. In some ways that had been harder to deal with then a court full of nobles. Not that Celestia blamed them. The parents were trusting her with someone very dear to them. Celestia had promised to watch over her as those she was her own, but as parents they would still worry. It was a job of any good parents to worry, and from what she could tell Twilight Velvet and Night Light were excellent parents.

“Will you teach me how to raise the sun?” A small voice to Celestia’s side asked. It shockingly brought several thoughts to Celestia mind, the first of which was that she was alone with the small child for the first time in many, many years. It took longer than Celestia would have like to process Twilight question. By the time she had figure out what the girl had originally said she had already moved on to another question.

“Do you know all magic? Can you teach me all magic? How long did it take you to get good at magic? Why are there six bedroom?” The child continue asking questions without taking a breath, was that normal?

“Twilight!” Celestia interrupted before the young girl could start a new wave of question. Twilight stood quiet staring up at Celestia waiting. Celestia chose to answer her last question as it was the simplest. “ There are six bedroom because soon five more children will be joining you here to learn.”

“More mana-bound?” Twilight questioned, were there more like her she wondered.

“Maybe, or they maybe Sky-bound or earth-bound, we will have to see.” Celestia informed her.

“Why?” Such a simple question had such a complicated answer. Celestia consider how to answer, how much to let such a young child know.

“Because like you they are special, and together the six of you will do great things.” Celestia answered cryptically. Twilight thought on this for a minute or two then decided if Princess Celestia was saying then it must be true, so she nodded her head in detriment agreement. Celestia had to suppress a laugh at the adorable seriousness on Twilight’s face.

“Now Twilight there is one more thing I need to talk to you about before I must leave you for the night.” Celestia said as she summoned a box. The wooden box was simple but eloquent. Twilight stared first at the box, then back at Celestia. Celestia paused, she knew what Twilight reaction would be when she pulled the item from the box. She wished she could spare the young girl this, but certain thing were necessary especially until Twilight learned to control her magic. With a quieted sigh Celestia pulled from the wooden box a thin silver choker, with runes carved into it surface. Upon laying eyes on it Twilight’s face immediately showed fear. The young girl reactively took a couple of steps back.

“A...a suppression collar?” Twilight stumbled to ask, the hurt echoing in her voice.

“It is not what you are thinking.” Celestia tried to calm the child, it was a mistake to show it to her before explaining, she knew that now. Suppression collar were usually given to mana-bound criminals who couldn't be trusted to have magic anymore. The suppression collar made it so they weren't able to access their magic, this collar was different. “The collar isn't design to block your magic, just dampen it until I can teach you to control it all. The collar will make it so your magic surges won't destroy an entire room. It will be safer for you and for others to be around around. Also this latch right here means you can take it off at any time.” Celestia ended by demonstrating the latch. It popped open with ease.

Twilight thought, it would be nice to not destroy every toy she owned, and she didn't want to hurt anyone. Even though he father joked about really liking the taste of photosynthesis, it had scared Twilight a lot. What if they didn't turn back, what if they had been stuck as plants. Twilight didn't like to think about it. It would be safer, for the other kids and for the castle staff. Finally Twilight nodded uncertainly. Celestia lead down and fastened the choker around her neck as Twilight stood there eyes closed waiting. The first thing she noticed was a pressure in her head, not unpleasant just enough to reminder it was there. The next thing she noticed was on cold the silver felt against her skin. Twilight slowly reached up and touch the choker.

“It not forever, Twilight.” The Princess promised her, and for a second Twilight almost swore she saw a glimmer of guilt in the princess’s eyes, but then it was gone, leaving Twilight to wonder if it was ever there in the first place.

~Later that night~

Princess Celestia had left sometime ago, muttering something about paperwork and nobles, so now Twilight Sparkle sit alone in the rec room staring peevishly at a book she had gotten from the library. Well alone wasn't quite the right word. There was castle staff all about that she could go to, and Princess Celestia had informed Twilight that they knew to come get her if she was needed, but for all intensive purposes Twilight was alone. Now that she wore the suppression collar doing magic was harder. Pulling the book off the shelf had proven to be much more difficult the before, and now she sat looking at the cover. Twilight was aware should just use her hands to lifted up the book and turn the pages, but when one was use to doing thing one way it became hard to change that habit. Twilight was use to using her magic to read and now she was having difficulty doing that. Twilight scowled as she looked at the book, her fingers dancing lightly on the choker. She brushed passed the latch, it would be easy to open it. Princess Celestia did say she could take it off at any time. Twilight sat up.

“That right!” She said excitedly to herself. She wasn't breaking any rules by removing the choker, she was told she could. Twilight smiled proudly as she undid the latch the held the choker on to her neck. An amazing rush of power was the last thing Twilight remember before everything went dark.

“Will she be okay?” A worried voice pierced the darkness.

“Princess I assure you that she will be fine. It just magical exhaustion for the extrem out pour of power.” Another voice stated. Twilight crack open her eyes. A blinding light replaced the darkness, and soon that to receded to show she was in the infirmary. Twilight recognized it from the tour Princess Celestia had done earlier that day with her parents. The person talking with Princess Celestia was nurse Red Cross. A nice earth-bound who the princess had introduced her to when she had show Twilight the infirmary. Twilight remember that Nurse Red Cross soul mark was a Red Cross on the back of her left hand. The nurse had told her it symbolize her love of healing others.

“Princess?” Twilight question bringing the two adults in the room attention to her. Right away Nurse Red Cross went about checking Twilight’s vitals, as Princess came over to talk with her.

“Oh good Twilight you're awake. I am relieved.” Princess Celestia said with all sincerity.

“What happened?” Twilight asked confused.

“You removed the choker and your backed up magically energy overwhelmed you. I should have warned you that may happen, especially on high emotional days like today. I'm sorry Twilight, can you forgive me?” Princess Celestia expressed as she sat on the edge of the bed next to Twilight.

“It not your fault Princess I shouldn't have removed the choker. I just wanted to read a book like I did at home, sorry.” Twilight explain with big puppy dog eyes. The Princess laugh.

“Oh Twilight that is okay, I'm just happy you're okay. Now it's been a long day, why don't you try and sleep. Nurse Red Cross want to keep you in the infirmary overnight to monitor you.” Princess Celestia told her and then tunt Twilight back into to the infirmary bed. Twilight nodded and was soon back to sleep, she was still very exhausted.

Princess Celestia left the infirmary feeling very upset with herself. She had, had Twilight in her care for less than 24 hours and the young girl was already in the infirmary, it was not a good sign. On top of that the construction workers had informed the Princess it would take at least a week to fix the rec room. Princess Celestia realize she needed to do better, and she would starting with teaching Twilight how to control her magic surges. The Royal budget could only afford to fix entire structures a couple of time a quarter.

‘Yes’ Princess Celestia thought as she looked out a towards the moon. ‘I will do better for you.’
