If nothing else, indolence will be my undoing.

"True warriors do not follow paths, they make them. It is not just their desire, it is their nature." -Nicholas Kerensky

In the year 3057, Cadet Flynn expected himself to become a great MechWarrior in the Wolf Touman someday. One that's life would be retold through the Remembrance, one that would put the Jade Falcons in their place, one that would stand upon Terra when the Clans stopped biding the time Comstar had forced them to endure five years prior.

However, when his aspirations are decisively ended, he soon learns that when one opportunity for honor and glory closes, a new one opens. Now Flynn must forge his own path with nothing but his skills, his will, and his Firemoth in his quest to find the people most important to him.

*BattleTech crossover partially inspired by The Thessalonica Legacy by Dashukta, Mechwarrior: Equestria by faktopus, and a training mission in MechWarrior 2*

*Originally titled "My Little Dasher" as what was intended to be a harmless reference to to ROBCakeran53's epic, My Little Dashie. This fic is otherwise unrelated to that story*

Hmmmm... So, the Grey Death Legion wont be making an appearance in this story?

2466808

Probably not. I just noticed that there are few (and by few I mean one) other BattleTech/MLP crossovers featuring the Clans in a significant way (that I know of) and I wanted to change that. I am sorry to disappoint you.

If you could also give me your opinion on the story so far, I would appreciate it.

2467973 Well, it is on my Read Later list. I would have read it, but I have been working on my own HiE story, which I just started writing today. Later on tonight, I am certain I shall be looking at this one.

Myself, I find that I preferred the old school mechs, with the Maruader being one of my personal favorites, as well as the Locust for scouting missions. (If you cannot have massive PPC's and a 120mm autocannon, you better be like a GSX-R 1000 with your legs! LMAO!)

I'm not sure why people are hating this. Some parts seem a little over the top, but I think the 2nd chapter is pretty solid.

2469086 2467973 I think people are hating on this because of the title's similarity to "My little Dashie". You would do well to change the title, I think. Aside from that it seem pretty well written and enjoyable! Good job!

Thanks for the heads up. The title was meant to be a reference to the story, and when I thought it up I saw no harm in it. (Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right?)

But if it is really that big of an issue, I would gladly change it as soon as I can think up something.

Actually kinda suprised here, I thought we were going to be waving goodbye to the Clan Homeworlds for the time being to focus on the action in Equestria.

You should check out battletech wiki's pages on the clans. I don't see any errors so far in how you have portrayed him. I'm interested in seeing how a fire moth will hold up in equestrian. He is lucky he has an energy heavy load out.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I am already well aware of Sarna and it is a wonderful research tool (unless you are referring to something else, in that case I would love to see it). More importantly, I am also glad to hear some reassurance from readers - especially fellow BattleTech fans - such as yourself about my portrayal of the Clans. The boost in confidence should help motivate me to write the next chapter sooner as well. So once again, thank you.

You know i would be great to see AJ face when she find out that Big Mac tobles with nuse red hreat lol:rainbowwild:

oh dear... this will be interesting! Btw, i'd really be happy if you could make a list of the ponified names of all of the Battletech Factions! also, its not battletech but... deviantart.com/art/Reaver-Titan-Want-354892499

I am loving this. Great work!:rainbowlaugh:

“Please do not call me 'sugarcube'. I am trying not to call you 'stravag'.”

Ok, I giggled.

I'm also going to go out on a limb and say that Lyra considers this to be a light recon mech.

I laugh so much when I read this!
The setting of the ultra serious mech warrior getting dumped in with our favorite ponies is brilliant and I applaud your execution.

While I consider myself to be a Davion loyalist, I say that this is quite good and am looking forward to more!

“See? You can scream with no mouth!”

Pinkie! Damn! Stop breaking it! :rainbowlaugh:

Why didn't he call out on his comms that remote pilot had engaged? Did he try and I missed that part?

Flynn began to step forward towards the counter, most of the horses returning to their meals and games without uttering a peep.

Finally! A "realistic" take on HiE! The ponies deal with various species regularly, so it would be no surprise to them to be visited by a species they have never seen before. The human might just be like "screw it, I'll just take it in stride".

reigniting the fire of the Star League

Gotta wonder how they are so loyal to the Star League (while they were still the SLDF) considering that they were basically just seconded units from various star nation militaries.

Lyra being a crazed fan of BattleMechs was forgivable, if somewhat unnerving. But the way she referred to presumably the Free Worlds League by that alternate name downright made no sense.

It'd be neat if the pony MechWarriors from their literature show up. :pinkiehappy:

Why didn't he call out on his comms that remote pilot had engaged? Did he try and I missed that part?

The thought never occurred to use his comms because he could not have if he tried.

His instructor did not hear him however, the minimal communications suite inside his Firemoth could only receive signals standard.

What I was trying to say by that line was that the Firemoth's comms extremely bare bones. That he could receive signals, but not send them. It was an attempt to justify the one-sided communications between the instructor and the player character, and I was actually going to address that poor design decision in chapter eight. I should have made this more clear.

To be frank, the knowledge that others want to see more of this almost a year since the most recent chapter was published is kinda refreshing. It is also a serious reminder to take another look over my work and get back into gear with writing stuff in general. Thank you.

A very good chapter, cannot wait to see where you go with this :pinkiehappy:

2467973 please for the love of God finish this story and I read it your talented

Why is it when I find a good batltetech crossover majority of them are unfinished, I hope you finish this at some point.

I find it surprising that even after all this time, I still get favorites and people insisting on me continuing. I suppose I should be proud I managed to make something that does that.

I have considered it, thinking of how I would continue where I left off while accounting for the enormous game changing events of the show that happened since season four. I kind of lost interest in the show around the end of season five and even if I decided to ignore that and go the alternate universe route, I am not satisfied with my original plot route nor have the passion to make a new, fleshed out one. If I do find the drive to finish this, it would be a couple modest chapters plus a time-skip epilogue for the purpose of closing what I have in a satisfactory manner.

I cannot guarantee you that this will happen, but hopefully this response will answer both you and anyone else who may still be interested of how things are. Thank you for the review regardless.

No worries, it’s hard find good battletech crossovers at times. Some my favorite ones are ones unfinished. Such as halotech and mech effect. Not most popular sci-fi genre but I’ve I did enjoy growing up as read some books and enjoyed them. With latest games I’m hoping it will revive the genre in some fashion. Personally hoping for another cartoon series. Anyways I did enjoy fic and it makes me think my own what if ideas of two genres meet. I do look forward To the day when you come back to this fic. Or least blog/forum discussion of franchise ^^
