Saddled with nearly a billion bits of debt, the Flimflam brothers and Trixie have come to the conclusion that gainful employment is a sucker's game. With the Crystal Empire recently rediscovered after a thousand years, though, it is possible that another ancient city, lost for about as long, might be about to re-emerge. Of course, when it does, the Elements of Harmony will doubtless be dispatched - but if they could just find it first, they might be able to reap the rewards before they show up.

The chances of failure resulting in humiliation and/or death are high; the chances of musical numbers, equally so; but they have to try. The alternative - working - is just too terrible to comprehend.

(This is a sequel to Flim and Flam Save an Orphanage, but that story probably isn't required reading if you're good at picking things up from context. Just know that it's set early in Season 3 and that the events of Magic Duel did not and will not happen, and the rest should be easy to work out.)

OH LORDY, HERE WE GO AGAIN! :pinkiehappy:

I can't wait to see what kind of adventure Trixie, Flim, and Flam have gotten themselves into! Not to mention the possibilities of 'Old Donado'.

However, they must be wary, for I assume they might come across the WRONG lost city. Namely, the medieval city of Tambelon returned from the Realm of Shadows, ruled by the Nefarious goat-necromancer Grogar.

Because if that's the case, then the only music they'll be listening to will probably sound like this...

I'm not sure if Flim, Flam, or even Trixie can work with bagpipes...

Oh. My. God.

Despite the previous fic being cracky as all hell I did love it so and i'm sure i'm going to love this one as well.

Rated T for Teen, because wow, that chapter didn't end in the same place it started.

Glad to see some of my old followers back (Hi Grimm! Hi AngryDesu!), and welcome to everyone just getting on board! I hope I manage to entertain you somewhat.

I'll admit, it was a real close thing between "the Road to Old Donado" and "Flim and Flam and the Magic Schoolcarriage", featuring Miss Cheerilee as Miss Frizzle and Zecora as Professor Maximillian Arturo (who would actually be from Sliders, but whatever). "Flim and Flam Rob a Casino" was sadly abandoned some months ago.

I'll also admit, I know where this is ending but not necessarily every stop on the way. So more than some of my other work, I might be prone to seizing on certain audience suggestions if they tickle my fancy. Consider yourselves warned.

Hello to you too, KFD! :pinkiehappy:

I happened to experience a bit of nostalgia the moment Trixie broke out in song...in that particular fashion...

And as for that hole, they should be on their guard if they find it leads to the sewers...Alligators and such, you know.

Oh boys, boys boys boys. You just never catch a break do you?
As for Trixie... well, at least she knows her showmareship talents weren't wasted (much) on this adventure!

Rated T for Teen, for implying even remote similarity between bad parts of Equestria and a certain video game series that routinely pushes the boundaries of M for Mature.

"The Hub" is not a horse pun. But it is a real place in the town that is the subject of the original horse pun, and it also counts as a specifically, though non-equine, My Little Pony pun. Therefore, it went in.

Additionally: If the main musical number of this chapter is obscure to you, see:

Furthermore, if the secondary musical number also eludes you, see:

Oh, I knew right away about the march of the Winkies. I was even more delighted with the Main Musical. That was good-thinking on their part to start singing, which would no doubt confuse a demonic entity that has spent the last few centuries away from Equestria...

I liked the battle between Grogar and the modern-day police force. I always enjoy seeing a magical, medieval force take on something from another time.

Though now I'm imagining Grogar isn't too happy with his 'Minions'...So I guess the princesses better get busy cleaning up the mess before he respawns or something...

Rated T for Teen, because even the chapter title is suggestive! Kind of.

Broken into two parts, but part two should be out pretty soon - possibly tomorrow.

Fear of being watched by Ducks, obsessed with the number thirteen, and sugar-teeth?

Trixie's an interesting mare...

And I feel the spy may be up to something especially sinister with that potion... May I venture a guess that the nature of said potion is similar to a substance known as Formula 86?

So, uh... Tomorrow, huh?
Ina all seriousness, this is amazing thus far. And If anyone can do a good Trixie voice, I would pay to hear them sing that song. That was awesome, and completely out of left field, and it's given me good hopes for this story.

Rated T for Teen, because innuendo.

Real life was...very thick on the ground these last few months. Not bad, just very busy. Graduating is like that.

This isn't my strongest material, but...the important thing is that the adventure must continue. Flim, Flam, and Trixie WILL get to Old Donado.

... Oh god.

Are they trying to con reality?
By pretending to be a male version of Pinkie Pie?

That's...

Holy crap that's a genius idea to be playing with in a fic.

Well, if anypony could con reality, it would be Pinkie Pie, even as a guy. :rainbowlaugh:

And as far as being shipwrecked, they were relatively lucky. I mean, there's all kind of things that could have gone wrong on that island. At least there isn't a Caliban-Pony skulking about... But then again, I suppose the Flimflams going nuts can be just as bad.

Rated T for Teen because Carriage Callow is not a good role model for very young children.

This is a awesome story and you should feel good for writing it. :pinkiehappy:

He may not be a good role model, but he's a thoroughly written character. I really liked his explanation of the universe's spirit.

Rated T for Teen, because getting this meta can seriously damage a younger writer. I should know.

I've also started updating Summer of My Human Soldier again, in case any fans of my comedy want to know what it looks like when I take my writing semi-seriously.

I cracked up at 'Gem-mining Midgets'. :rainbowlaugh: Though I'm curious; what was that song they sang?

Interesting to see where they go from here, now that they have a flying machine...

Also, having personal experience with this, do they know that pine sap is VERY flammable?

"Look Down (Prisoners)" / "The Work Song", opening track to Les Misérables.

And with your accurate points about the actual, non-cartoony properties of pine sap, you're sounding more like Fancypants! The minute Fancypants' version of reality takes hold again...well. Yeah.
