I actually really like this. Only thing I would add to the end is something about discovering how love doesn't hurt. (Personal experience.)
Ohai, Subsolar. It seems I've finally gotten around to stalking you and reading some of your work. I've been meaning to read your work, seeing as you review some pretty good stories on that little 'Drifting Rambles' podcast you do with our mutual buddy, Bats.
I very much enjoyed this little scene. It was warm and feels-y. And because of its super shortness, it gives me ideas on how to incorporate this scene into a larger work.

One small request good fellow. Could you start tagging each chapter in the chapter title, so we know what we're getting into before we read each chapter? It's something I've notice other authors of these short little fics do, and it helps those like me who'd rather stay away from the grim/dark stuff.

The element of magic has broken free of it's confines, and Twilight has learned she has to merge with it to contain it again, only she'll lose herself in the process. After heading off on her own to hunt it down, Rainbow catches up with her just as she finds it.
Kind of reminds me of another fanfic where a Sonic Rainboom was needed to destroy Discord, but Rainbow would be annihilated in the process, and she had to say goodbye to her love interest right before the act.
Second person threw me a bit because NO I DON'T WANT TO BE A HERO! I is FERRET!
But I feel it hit a nerve somewhere. Nice job.
