World War I and ponies; haven't seen something like this for a while.
Can I just say that this has the potential to be one of the greatest Human in Equestria stories written? Finally, one that doesn't share the trope of "They died and became a pony" or "Somehow they were transported to Equestria". Nope. This one takes place within the dreams of a simple man in the middle of ome of the greatest wars known to history.
And might Sky be named for the Isle of Skye, mayhaps?
