Twilight Sparkle has always enjoyed studying, and magic is her special talent. It's only natural that when she combines the two her enthusiasm is rivaled by none. But when she lets her her enthusiasm get the best of her and her magical studies go a little too far, things get out of hoof. Will Twilight be able to handle the consequences?

Good spelling, good grammar, good punctuation, interesting premise, your sir get a favorite :pinkiehappy:

Passes my grammar nazi inspection, good start but I'm not exactly sure where you'll go with this.
For now have a mustache: :moustache:

I'm always up for a "omigosh what did twi do now" story.

I'm glad you approve. I hope I don't dissappoint. :twilightsheepish:

I can't promise that it will go the same direction you may be expecting, but I thank you for the mustache. I like mustaches. And it's always good to have the approval of a Grammar Nazi. :raritywink:

Mr. Nazi? A semicolon after inspection with an 'it's' would have been more appropriate.:scootangel:

Color me intrigued.

Oh dear. You're not going to have her summon a human, are you?

1729838 Probably just the run-of-the-mill cthulhu.

1729838 I'm not a fan of most HiE stories, and I don't think I could bring myself to write one either... :rainbowwild: I won't say *what* it is... Just that it isn't a human... :trollestia:

1730020 Cuthulu Fhtagn... :scootangel:

I like the story so far, and I'm quite interested to see where you are going with it.

Twilight really should be careful if she's going to try out those summoning spells; calling in a full grown dragon or something in the middle of Canterlot to burn down the castle—or any part of it—would probably not be a good idea... dl.dropbox.com/u/31471793/FiMFiction/Twilight_Sparkle_lolface.png

Keep up the good work!

An interesting story. It doesn't rush to the action but doesn't feel like it's being too slow getting to it.
A great pace and a great telling. I look forward to more.

Well...this won't end well :twilightblush:

Silly Twilight, you should have stuck to bunnies and birds.

You do have a firm grasp on hooking. Actually, that phrase is probably too easy to misconstrue, so I shall elaborate. I was speaking about leaving a hook to draw one into the next chapter.

2878147 Thank you, my good brony... I'm glad to hear that I'm doing something right. :raritywink:

ALL BURN

I'm surprised that Twilight doesn't see the value in starting with the simplest possible spell in a school of magic she has never even heard of before. What does she have to lose? A few minutes scribing some runes and summoning a bird before moving on to something "intermediate" doesn't seem like that much of an imposition, and she seems like too much of a neophile to not enjoy the thrill that comes from doing even the simplest thing you've never done before as part of learning more.

I'm not complaining; it's a story hook, and I can suspend disbelief for it (at least she didn't try to jump straight to the expert-level spells), but it still seems like she's channeling Rainbow Dash a bit.

In any case: you've definitely got me hooked, and I look forward to seeing where you take this. Right now I'm wondering whether she got the spell wrong and summoned fire instead of water, or whether she got water right and got overconfident, or whether water went horribly wrong and she went full Sorcerer's Apprentice trying to fix it with more summons.

2986533 I know this is a much delayed reply, but I shall give it nevertheless. Thank you for pointing that out to me. You are absolutely right, :pinkiegasp: I can't believe I missed that! I can totally see her relishing in the experience of starting small; she's just the type of pony to do so. I will keep that in mind for future stories, but for the sake of this one, let's just assume it's because she's excited :pinkiehappy:

Also.... Let this serve as evidence to any who still watch this... This story is not abandoned... simply back-burnered. :rainbowdetermined2:

Life rears it's ugly head, ya know? :ajsleepy:

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it.

And yeah, that's exactly what I mean: she wouldn't go straight to the hardest thing she thought she could do, she'd work her way through the rest of it because learning is fun and being successful at a bunch of new things in a row is even more fun, and that's a great high to be riding when getting to the harder stuff.
