Well, I certainly liked this story! Can't say I've ever thought of the story behind Shining's Cutie Mark but I look forward to finding it out! Everypony seemed to be in character and you've revealed just enough to leave me wanting more. I didn't spot any spelling or punctuation errors but I admit I'm not the best at that so there might be a few.
Very sweet story. Had me choked up a bit. I can definitely imagine that Shining got his cutie mark from protecting Twilight, just seems to be the nature of their relationship.
Well, if that wasn't a big ball of heartwarming, I don't know what was. Sure, it was a fairly cliche premise, but who says cliches have to be bad? Excellent work, mate.
