Was excited for a side story, an offshoot or alternate story plot, but this is a bit confusing. I guess kinda how the order of the Star Wars series is? But this story is opening up 6 months after contact was made. I was kinda hoping you would do first contact, and work from there. I see it as a massive plot hole that you could fill with whatever you want down the road, as you continue to write. Rather than building off of what happened first.

Introducing the remnants of some kind of forerunner-esque alicorn civilization is a novel idea though. Someone should look into that.
1493065 The reason the story starts six months into the original Machine and Might story is because not much happens between first contact and then. When the Vector first arrives they notice some oddities on the moon but basically don't give it a second thought until they return. So it doesn't follow some kind of star wars style pacing with the originals and prequels. It just happens to start 6 months in and there is nothing to fill before that. Hope this clears things up a bit.
