That's actually how this was supposed to go as originally envisioned! That's the reason this took almost two years to finish.
There were overt hints sprinkled in the text that Sunset did have some residual lust for Shining Armor that Rarity would pick up on. When Sunset asks about Shining Armor's tongue game, Rarity originally offered to let her find out. In the ensuing discussion, Flash and Rarity would admit to hooking up sometime after he broke up with Sunset. A full-on swap would then ensue.
Recent developments in my life, however, have utterly annihilated any taste I might have once had for writing sexy adultery of any kind. It didn't feel true to either of these couples to commit such an act, especially Shining Armor and Rarity after the wringer I put them through in 'Wrong and Right.'
I'm glad you liked it! In case you missed it, 'Conned' also takes place in this universe. As to the future? I expect there's one tale left to tell for Flash and Sunset before I close the door on this universe for good.
