I have a few questions...
Is this set in an alt universe where Twilight will not become Princess of Equestria? Why, and how? And, who's the "Queen" of Equestria? If Celestia, why simply keep Twilight to be an "administrative princess"?

Good thing that you were not trying to explain Chaos theory, sans Discord. A scientific explanation of Chaos in the pony universe without Discord would be like making a car move with no engine, nor use any magic to make the car move.

Yes, in this AU, Twi will never rule Equestria, but the name of the pony on the throne (it's not Celestia) isn't strictly relevant to this tale. I suppose the term "administrative princess" leaves something to be desired, but that was the best i could think of, and I could be open to better nomenclature. On this planet you might think of Anne, Princess Royal. Technically I suppose she could become queen if Chuck and his progeny all croaked (probably some others would need to die, too), but realistically it is just not gonna happen. Ann herself has influence and Royal Duties, but she doesn't reign over anything. If Twilight had been speaking more precisely she might have said that she was, "effectively out of the running."

Ouch this certainly adds damper on things for him, I hope Twilight finds sound way to treat him to find joy in life again. Nice dramatic chapter keep it up.
I know that feeling when the MC found himself being drawn into the scene that he was looking at in that water portal thingy; I often feel drawn into the sky, like I was falling into it.
Sigh... At this point, I wish to see him remain in Twilight's Equestria. I mean, f*** going back home. Right?
