I think it might be a formality thing, like not calling them their first names cuz they’re students and need to address them as “Professor Rarity,” like they often do. So Smolder backtracks from first name basis, starting with Rarity, realizing, and then switching to professor.
Or, that just might be my overanalytical interpretation
I figured both rainbow and smolder have in common with each other they're both afraid to do anything girly stuff since both of them are like tomboys but sometimes they don't have to be embarrassed to show their feminist side

Finally letting myself relax, I wrapped my arms around the normally brash professor. Rainbow Dash seemed taken aback at first but returned the hug.

Aww this is actually a pretty nice story and it's really nice to see the kids again and it really shows smolder that she can actually open up herself that she likes cute things and love wearing dresses without being judged by other creatures and even Rainbow Dash also opened up as well to show her feminine side which both of them really Embrace that and not only that their friends were pretty happy for them again this was a pretty nice story keep up the good work
