Also clear case of the girls having plot armor as they each made it out alive while all their guards effortlessly were killed. What is it with people making the girls more competent than trained guards? Don't make it too obvious the girls are protected because plot.

just remind you. 1. the Main six have fought others villain's stronger than Commando Droids and didn't get close to death. 2. if this was a real crossover IDW wouldn't kill off the main six this early or ever in the story.
there would be some plot armor here and there, but I'm willing to make changes in the later chapters if it makes the story better.

I get plot armor is inevitable or rather you cannot have it not be a thing, but with clever or decent writing it's not blatantly obvious, which is my issue. The fact that all of the well trained guards were easily killed when they didn't even put up one iota of a fight, yet the girls just seemed to magically get through it with only minor injuries at worse is too laughable for me to buy.
Yeah, because of their deus ex machina and clever writing from the show that didn't make it obvious by having a group of well trained guards die in the same fight as them without putting up a fight, and yet they do. I get you can't have them die, but don't make it painfully obvious like you did here. You are better than that. Anyone is better than that. Have the guards put up an actual fight and only have a few die if you must have your tragedy. Also, when it happens don't ruin the mood by having Rarity bitch about her appearance when there are dead ponies in front of her that were protecting her ungrateful ass, or if you do have someone call her out instead of Fluttershy of all ponies cheering her up when there are again dead ponies in front of her. Like how only Celestia seems to care about that.
Those pesky tin cans will suffer dearly for what they did to the dragon lands.

Oops. you make a good point. Apologies if it made the mane 6 sound like they didn't care about the dead guards. I'll see if I can fix it in the later chapters along with better combat for the guards and make less of them die.
I hope the ponies can figure out a way to stop the droids for good before anymore lives are lost.

That was just a Crab Droid. And sure there is the Dwarf Spider Droid, AAT, and MTT in here too.
But, IF you have seen the more advanced land droids from the Confederacy/Separatists, like the IG-227 Hailfire droid tank, OG-9 Homing Spider droid, NR-N99 Persuader-class droid enforcer, J-1 Proton Cannon, Octuptarra magna tri-droid, and especially the Defoliator Deployment Tanks, and the Super Tank, etc..
And that was just the land vehicles/droids.
