Rarity suffers from panic attacks from time to time. They leave her exhausted and stressed, and she never deals with them the same way. Tonight... She goes for a walk.

Written as a Christmas fic for Silver Mint, featuring her OTP and a prompt for something romantic and slice of lifey. It went a little darker, but nothing at all too serious. Enjoy!

So glad you liked it!

This was really sweet and cozy. The descriptions were great and I could get into Rarity's headspace. I did notice an inconsistency, where the start of the story says Sweetie is in the Boutique, but Rarity later says she's out of town.

May have got a bit mixed up somewhere when I was juggling the two ideas. Thanks for noticing!

Meditative was the first word that came into my mind the moment I finished reading it. Intimate and delicate too, those feelings are present especially towards the end, but meditative first and foremost.

I was slightly reminded of Call of the Night by Kotoyama as I was reading this. It's a manga where the main character gets bitten by a vampire as he was wandering the streets at night. Though it starts off that way, the story soon shifts its lens towards both MC and vampire basically going on long walks in the night and meeting other like-minded individuals like them, vampiric or otherwise—night-walkers, as they're called in the story, each with their own reasons for being out and about at such a late hour.

Rarity here's a night-walker. She wanders the streets of Ponyville in the middle of the night. Whether it had purpose initially or whether it lacked it, it didn't matter. She wanted to take a walk, so she did, even if it was not exactly clear to her how it would help her with her panic attack initially. By the end of this first walk, however, she's found a good reason to. I'd imagine from here on out there will be many more long walks to come.

Past that comparison though, this was a very warm and comforting read. I think what really drew me in from the very start was the physicality of it all. You take your time with it, plucking out every tremble and gasp where you find it. The lengths to which you went about describing everything may be a bit much for some but I wholeheartedly think that it's necessary. You're taking us on the scenic route, all while elocuting to us the idea of patience, much in the same way Applejack reserves some for Rarity towards the end.

And I think that makes the ending a lot more sweeter, the fact that we see Applejack taking as much time with Rarity as Rarity did with her walk, if not more. It balances out neatly the idea of making time even when there seemed to be literally none, all while giving us a look into just how adorable RariJack can be, so much so that I'm almost kinda jealous at Rarity for having a partner as sweet as her.

So yeah, I greatly enjoyed this. This story felt like a warm hug, one that I didn't know I needed but slowly came around to understanding why I do. It may not be touching on anything profound, but sometimes we need to be reminded that the most profound things can be found hidden in the simplest of places. All we have to do is stop and take a look.

Thank you for writing this. Hoping for many more to come!

Thank you for the kind words! I do tend to ere on the purple prose a bit but I'm glad it gave the right impact here!
