After her suicide attempt, Sunset Shimmer wakes up unable to move. She can barely remember why she did it, but after reflecting on her mistakes, Sunset’s sure she deserves to die. But, she failed spectacularly. Despite the fact that she can’t feel anything, life continues to torment her. It’s a fate worse than death. She has to get out of this.

This story is easily in my top 5 sunset depression fics. I'm on my 4th reread and I have no clue why I haven't reviewed it yet.
Her friends reaction to what happened is incredibly important for these kinds of stories and you display it perfectly. two of my favorite examples of this are when applejack enters the room she repeats "sorry" over and over again, implying she is the one who made the passing comment earlier In the story. being able to reflect on an earlier hint like this is something that most writers tend to overdo but you pulled this off very well.
And the positioning of the characters is exactly what it should be. to elaborate, rainbow and aj are the tough/protective/leader types so it makes sense they would be the ones to rush to sunsets side after entering the room. pinkie and fluttershy are more emotionally fragile so it makes sense for them to be in the back, with rarity as a more emotionally mature figure keeping pinkie and fluttershy away from the scene and providing support. it makes perfect sense for the characters to behave this way.
There are tonnes of other little examples that I'm not going to go over because this review would be longer than the actual story, but to summarize, this is probably one of the best portrayals of these characters I've seen in a fanfic.
Finally there is sunsets position, and this is the icing on the cake. when starting off this fic readers know theres two ways it can go, either she is actually paralyzed and this is going to have a happy ending (well, happy as it can get being a vegetable) or shes dead and this is going to be depressing. sunsets reflections and doubts before the arrival of her friends are perfectly done, and when her friends do show up her insistence that shes still alive and the realization that she isnt had a fantastic emotional impact. in general, portraying sunset like this was an excellent move.
