Sunburst didn't expect Pharynx would be so interested in the gift he'd brought for him. He, of course, knew the changeling was Genderfluid, but still, he didn't think Pharynx would be so eager to try it right away. But it does give him the chance to be philosophical with the usually snarky General.
There's a lot to unpack about just the color of the gift itself.

Thank you! I'm glad you like it!
that does make sense! as does Changelings being genderfluid
i can imagine the more practical Pharynx saying this gruffly
it is a very good line! showcasing Pharynx's want of vulnerability is very thematic
ha, this type of marveling is very relatable!
title drop, and a great one, too! i'm terrible at coming up with this aesthetic symbolism stuff as a writer, so i am always impressed when another writer does it well
aww, absolutely adorable exchange here!
and the motto comes around full-circle as well, very nice
i love how loving and intimate these little actions are! this entire section was great
ha, perfect ending! some real intruding little brother energy right here!
oh wow, that is such great art! i love it so much!
i have to admit, Sunburst x Pharynx seemed like a completely random ship out of nowhere to me at first, but you did a great job selling it here. Pharynx's conflicting needs to seem tough as a warrior and let himself be vulnerable is prime shipping fuel, and this detail-oriented and earnest Sunburst worked well to bring that vulnerability out of him. and the lovingly rendered fluff was a joy to read. thank you so much!

Thank you so much for the nice comments, I'm really glad you liked it!
This is brilliant. I love the concept of Pharynx sitting next to Thorax’s throne, observing the life like Mufasa (The Lion King score will forever be a score reserved for the Changeling Hive especially) around them while Thorax does the polite little whatevers.
He’s observing everything, silently, like Rainbow Dash when she flies in Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3. Or the aforementioned Mufasa. Or Scar, depending on his mood.
His whole duty is to protect the Hive while Thorax helps emotionally. Sure, Thorax can observe too, but it’s Pharynx that puts it all into doing so, perfectly still like prowling leopard and absorbing like a paper towel. As expressive as both, too.
It could also be compared to Celestia and Luna’s dynamic in Twilight’s Seven, with the protective protocols Shining had put into place. While I feel like overall, Pharynx would put similar preparation into his defences as Shining, he’d still want to do them himself.
Pharynx, as both General and Prince, is the sole protector of the Hive. He’s strong and still and surprisingly humble. He’s sat next to Thorax’s throne—while Thorax gets the title of King—put to the side, but he’s still there. Still there, still watching.
He may not share as much of the limelight as Thorax does, but his duty is to the hive, and the hive is his duty.

Finally, somebody gets it! That is exactly what I intended to convey, thank youuuu! Also, yes, the Lion King is the perfect score for the buggos

I try to convey it in my own pieces, too, as much as I can.
And hey, Mufasa is Pharynx, on some level. Maybe Kovu.
Simba is Thorax.
Zira is Chrysalis.
Spike is Timon and Pumbaa simultaneously11317488
Yes to all
