Hitchin' a ride

E

"Twilight, let me tell you something. Life isn't about being ready for every single possible situation. You can only think so far ahead, and you can't go through life fully prepared for whatever it may throw at you. It's impossible to know everything, you just need to be good enough at faking it to get things done."

Cover art is from that one anime with the really confusing chess matches.

Not exactly what I was expecting, but an interesting take.

The ending is brilliant. Because of course knights do move in a circle.

In most timelines, Celestia is very good at chess.
However, if you ever play Fluttershy, don't play 3 games with her. She'll use the first 2 to study your playstyle, and then beat you everytime after that.

"Ah, a fifteen. Unfortunately, it seems your little piece shall be exiled," The princess swiped his pawn and set it aside, "I regain 200 life points, and draw a prize card. Your move."

UHHHHH

“Well, the little pony piece moves uh...” She scratched her chin, “It like… Moves in a circle?”

NO NO NO! lmfao great story

The only way Celestia could have pulled more of a bluff, is if she had Kong as a Butler, serve. :trollestia:

Glad you liked it! Unfortunately, we may never know how the horsey piece truly moves :fluttercry:

Yeah I could see Celestia being pretty good at it, but I prefer the take that she just makes things up as she goes along. Mostly just cause it's kind of a meme.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it

Okay I give up, what's the reference?

The Kong quote is when he is Darling Darlas (?) bodyguard in the animated movie, Cats Dont Dance.

My first thought on seeing the title though, was a certain chess game with a certain anthropomorphic representation on a certain fantasy flat circular world carried through the cosmos on the backs of four star elephants, standing on the back shell of a cosmic turtle.

Ook? SQUEAK!:twistnerd:

Ah okay, that'd be why I missed the quote.

Regarding Discworld though, definitely a series I've been wanting to get into once I have the time.

"I apologize Minister, did you forget your dice set? I'm certain I have one around here somewhere you may borrow." She smiled at the Minister.

One of her guards brought over a set of dice and passed it to him, which he wordlessly took with a puzzled expression. He rolled, glancing at the dice as they sat upon the table.

"Ah, a fifteen. Unfortunately, it seems your little piece shall be exiled," The princess swiped his pawn and set it aside, "I regain 200 life points, and draw a prize card. Your move."

Calvinballchess?

I came here expecting a chess class thinly veiled as a fic. It wasn't that, but I think this is better

REMIND ME AGAIN, he said, HOW THE LITTLE HORSE-SHAPED ONES MOVE.

Lol bringing back the days of reading my dad's old Calvin and Hobbes compilation books.
10973003
You mean that one really long Pizza Hut commercial with the revolution and the anime girls?

Man I wish I was good enough to write out a detailed chess class, but that's a bit beyond me.
